Canadian Growers Group & Friends

your going to look for a soil still.. lol i tell you should grow in this .. i never use humidity dome put the hatched root seed in bear cup with hp pro mix water .. no feed 1st time .. then use general hydroponic ferts.. 5 or 6 bottles will do ..

maybe you need to add in Cal Mag... stops bud rot.. much more painful than stem rot..

I found it at Canadian Tire yesterday. Too strong for seedlings, though, but looks good.
For the 4 seeds that I just tapped, I just did what I did last year, which was very successful. Took all the nutes out of the promix, added a bit of Bokashi, Frass and worm castings. Hope the stems don't rot this time.

The worm castings should prevent the damping off. I start my new seedling in pretty bland soil, until the get established. Mostly old, used soil and perlite. After they break the surface I give them a very little bit of worm castings tea and give them a few days to set their feet.

baby seedlings would be fine in hp pro i do it all the time..

i would be into going the organic route.. but maybe not farming is back breaking work!
Not today dd. Miracle Grow has nothing on modern farming techniques. Subsistence farming was the norm in my youth, backbreaking but it made way more sense. Back to the land movement? Never went away in my world! Here's some food for thought, SUPERTUNIA®Bordeaux was developed by a local dude, it performs way better with chemicals, the breeding program was done that way. No dought cannabis is similar.

Hey... Odjob since you like farming and organic growing have you ever tried the Jadum gardening techniques. Love the method they use with black leaf mold earth from under tree brush and generating tons of microbial enzymes with it by putting it in a bucket with a cooked potato and water and let it ferment for a week or 2 and then pore and strain the liquid into a container cut that with more water to dilute it cause the stuff is really strong. You never have to by bottled nutes from the store again. You can make gallons of it at hardly any cost to you.

Yeah, but don't forget the stink! You know, full disclose and all that. :laughtwo:

The Jadam stuff smells like absolute death, at least for a while. It does mellow with age, but never does become pleasant.

Hi Scott... Promix Hp is safe to use for germinating and growing seedlings I do it all the time with no issues, There is nothing in it that will harm your plants its just peat moss, compost and perlite with some beneficial mycorrhizae found in any natural organic medium to help your plants grow. Another great way to start your seedlings are in rapid rooters on a Dwc bubbler no need for gemmating seeds in paper towel they can establish a good strong roots then be transplanted to whatever medium you want to grow in.

my back hurts way to much today ..

I find it to embarrassing doing manual labour with younger people, makes me realize I'm not doing that great. :laughtwo: Fermenting is cool but I don't do much other than sinking stinging nettle, stuff reeks! Favorite thing to do is going into the hardwoods and finding the spots where the wind collects leaves, the mold can be up to 2 feet deep! If I was younger I'd be diving into the cannabis industry head first without checking how deep the water is. More fun watching the greedy loose their shirt.:)

By worm casting tea, did you mean JMS? I have the castings.

Cheers

Pretty much, but I use it right after mixing the castings with rain water rather than letting them sit for any length of time.

You could also top dress with the castings and  lightly water in.

Well a pic of my attempted LST with these Sativa's Gt 3.0. internodes are far apart. Put these 2 seeds in water March 1 and put into 11/13 light schedule last Thur....
lol... Had the same craziness when Lst a Maui Waui plant... Glad to see some people are still playing with sativa strains!

same with fertilizers.. you should make your fertilizer solution and use it right away, don't let it sit for long time and use later.. the chemicals will come out of the solution.

Can you shake them to restore the blending or no, once they've fallen out of solution, that's it?

some chemical precipitate out of the soln.. they can not be blended back in.. so you dont really know
what your feeding your plants. chemicals bind and fall out of soln precipitation, your ratios are all changed..
i have seen the precipitate stick the the sides and bottom of my bucket... when left..
