what happens to the buds more importantly .. i dont know never grew in the cold ...

not ready for harvest.. only a few cloudy buds..

If the soil freezes your roots most likely will suffer greatly and probably die, the liquid running thru the plant will freeze too so no nutrient intake above the root zone, your leaves will wilt and fall since no water moves thru them and the crystallization of water will act like blades cutting tissues within the plant. The plant might take a few days to die completely but before she dies mayor stress so probably the plant will put more trichomes based on stress before it dies.

If you harvest after the stress you probably be good.

My 2 cents.

And good luck on everything plant is beautiful, harvest will be awesome.

Nothing - they will shiver and bounce back - at least mine did - it's undercover but still open.
That is the key difference. If you can keep the dew from landing on the plants and then freezing you can usually get a few more days, sometimes even a week or two. Same principle using a tarp or something.

We often get a few weeks of frost free nights after the first killing frost so a simple covering for a night or two can really extend things in my garden.

Buds can withstand gradually getting cold.
They build a slight tolerance.
Potassium Silicate helps cell walls withstand the cold.
Watering later in the day can help.
The extra water inside helps with cooler temps at night.
And a tarp over top at night is an option if it gets bad.
You need some time to finish.
I'd figure something out so you don't have to chop early.
Even poly over top would help.
Good luck my friend, we are all in the same boat.
Fingers crossed.
Take care. :passitleft:

Can't believe this weather this time of year as we have had only one day of light frost a couple of weeks ago. I am getting tired of looking at the weather updates for frost though. It looks good for at least another week but I will keep the heater on at nights in the green tent. Bertha is getting close to getting the chop but I do want to wait till she gets some amber going so I will wait some more.....so close....

My record is two frosts and plant still lived, never got past three(uncovered plants). Plants close to each other or next to trees seem to fair better in frost conditions. Watering at dusk will help a bit, but they drinking less and less anyway and frost is molds best friends when sun comes back out. So you either gamble we getting 2-3 weeks good weather or just harvest. October used to be worth gambling on for good weather and a week of growing weather does make a difference when you this close. But now that hell is starting to freeze over October is like betting on Canucks to win cup:)

The frost won't kill them but they'll need time to recover before they start making thc again. So you need few good days just for plant to recover plus days to start making thc again. Plus if you see water puddles freezing what's happening to your tricomes on plant, bubble hash.
Good luck everyone!!
