Camo's 1st Grow - Coco - LED - Lucas Autos - Poll Of Strain To Grow

See? lol.
That's about the temps I've gotten to also. If my tent hits 80+ I must be wearing a tanktop. Lol Summer is a whole new set of problems.

I haven't grown during the summer indoors and that what I'm worried about the power bill is going to be insane and running constantly.

You have the HP to keep the tent much cooler. Whatever your room is set at or is at is what your tent will run at. Example, at 66 deg room temp I can set and keep the tent at 66. But I run at 70-72 deg with no issues. My fan's at 1/2 speed will barely run its so cold in tent. Cooltube will keep heat bottled up near top center of tent. You gave two fans right. One pulling through cooltube and one changing air in tent right? Only one fan for cooltube will not cool tent only keep heat from building.

Mcdive how am I running half throttle? Talking about my vent fans speed? I have it cut down so it isn't so loud to hear if we have company. I will try running fan unplugged from filter (it's already unlpugged) and see if it makes any change to temperature. I don't understand it, I'm will you guys it's thought leds would only raise temps 4-5 degrees. I have no clue why I'm going from 66-88F in my tent. Maybe because it is in a closet ?

Brad with with these heat problems as of now I would hate to see how hot it runs during the summer ! The thing is my exhaust fan isn't really blowing out that hot of air.

I just know there is not point at all to germinate a bean if I can't keep my temps in my grow area regulated. I honestly thought it would be easier than this ! Especially since I went LED I thought there was little to no heat with them!

I'm trying the 710cfm in a little bitty 3x3 tent on full blast now to see if that does anything.
But yes baxter !! The thermometers & Hygrometer are directly under led. One is about 19 in under the other is about 33in under. As of now I'm reading 18in under led 88F and 33in under led 81F. BIG DIFFERENCE!

Led fans are about leds and accurite sensors are under leds to figure out what temps would be at canopy level! Is that right? Should I do it there or put the temp/ humidity sensor some where else?

Temps outside of tent are usually 70s and inside 80s . Sometimes at night the outside temp is 66, but I have tent running at night during coldest parts

I also have temp issues in my grow as I'm sure you remember. Temps usually sit between 26-36 celsius which is about 78-98F and although there were days they were unhappy, the temp wasn't the biggest issue. In Australia, temps average over 78F for 70% of the year and cannabis thrives outdoors in our environment. In summer we regularly get weeks where temperature doesn't drop below 35 celsius even at night and I know a few people who grow outdoors during that time with great success. So although the ideal is around 70-80, getting a bit higher than that shouldn't be a huge issue I don't think. (Many may shoot me down on this though)

My box is usually about 8-10 degrees hotter inside than outside when the door is closed, however with it open it is only about 1-3 hotter. Either way I think it may be due to the timber holding on to the temperature and without having any proper insulation I don't think it will be easy to bring the temp down without aircon.

Camo, when you take an 8" fan and put a 4" reducer on it, you now have, essentially, a 4" fan now. You greatly reduce the air flow. I can't address the noise factor, I don't have that problem here, but I'll tell you that one 8" S&P fan, split into two 6" short runs to two tents that have 1740 watts in one and 2400 watts in the other and I'm here to tell you I fluctuate 3-4 degrees @ 69 70 71 degrees outside the tent. Humor me. Take the reducer off and see what happens.

Just trying to help, Camo.

:peace: Andy.

First... This is a good range for humidity, and yes temps are a tad high, but not really a worry point yet. High 80's low 90's is not an issue unless the plants start to show stress, then you need to react. A lot of people think that all cannabis cant handle temps that high, but forget that most cannabis of the sativa side is an equatorial plant where temps regularly soar above 95F and into the low 100's daily, and the rest in the indica side grow best in the temperate zones just north and south of the equator where temps of 100+ are not uncommon for at least 10 to 15 days out of the summer.

What I'm saying here is, "Nature is hot, it's okay to have a little heat in your tent too."

Just try to keep it under 95 if you can and make sure that your plants don't show any stress because of it. Just listen to you your plants, THEY will tell you more than any frikkin forum, friend, book, or hearsay, or even I can.

Just as an example I have a cabinet with a 600w HPS in it for flowering. It regularly runs into the low 90s. I use that to my advantage and seal it off, run outside air to cool the hood, and enrich the cab CO2. The carious plants that I run in there have never suffered any ill effects from an extra 6 degrees boohoo, big whoopteedoo, the naysayers say I'm over temp, they smoke my nugs and never know the difference.

This, is just fine, as long as you listen to your plants....

Now... I do have some questions:

Is this your main extraction fan?

And is that this

If so, what can filter do you have?

Damn dude... 16 pages and no seedling? What's the hold up?

Get cracking bud! :cheertwo:

5 thank you for your thoughts and ideas on the tent temp situation. I think I have somethings going my way now with some new ideas and mcdive and jandre help.
Mcdive, I know you are just trying to help and I am very very grateful for it. I totally understand what your saying now, I will take the 4 inch reducer off the 8in ducting and see what that changes ! Although I'm sure it will change a great bit thank you again for that idea!!
My question is tho when the smell comes it will have to go back on because I got a 4in ipower carbon filter cause my tent is so small that is all I needed. I just wanted a big 8in fan so if I moved to bigger tents or could turn the fans power down if possible. I guess I'll just duct tape the ductwork to the 4in reducer & into the 4in carbon filter.

Jandre and blaze, dude I would already have seedlings if my first order of coco didn't get canceled and had to reorder the coco. I'm just waiting on it, I have no where else to buy coco for my grow or trust me I would have bought it already.
Jandre yes that is my main extraction fan, is something wrong with it?? And I have a 4in ipower carbon filter, it was cheaper and I only needed a small filter for my small 3x3 tent, just bought larger fan.

Yes like bax said the temp of the air that is being pulled in to ur space is what is going to really affect the temp of ur grow space. If hot air is being pulled in there's just air movement not cooling. Another thing to think about is wear you are taking your temp reading, it will pull a false reading if the light is beating down on it for any period of time. Just some things to think about, these are all things I had to change to get a proper temp reading and it to be wear I wanted or close at least

If you got the 8 inch fan for a bigger tent in the future then why not buy a nice 8 inch Can filter or the smaller Cab-lights for the future? If you have the money why not? You put the money in the size in the fan might as well cross it over to the filter in my mind. You gotta get germing though bro :cheertwo:

;) ;) shit dude idk, I was just trying to save some money. Guess I should a went ahead and got the huge filter. Just didn't want to drop the money,
Greedy me, I'll buy another filter bigger next time. If I get s bigger tent, cause I'm already crowded in top of tent as is.

Also yes, I'm afraid with the damn holidays my package will be late and not be here till next week. So I can't germ till I get coco from ups. Shit sucks !

Slayer dude !!I'm moving tent as we are talking cause I just don't feel safe where it's at. Also I think I can get better ventilation at this new location. Also I'll rig up some type of clip for Thermometer/hygrometer in middle of tent, I think leds beaten down on sensor is making hotter. But quick question?????
If it's making the sensor that hot wouldn't it make a plant that tall that hot too???
That being said because that's only like 16in above the pot and 17 in from LED. I can grow a 33in plant before I grow into my led. Right at 36in. So I guess i need to keep my ladies short for this grow with training and ponytail tech. I may can raise it a few more inches by removing clips! Securing leds straight to the bar of the tent

Okay, what is the rating on the carbon filter? The reason I ask, is because when you have a small filter, say 210 CFM, you have to have a fan that runs at 190 to 210 CFM to keep it from having "blow by". This is what happens when the air rushes by the carbon filter too fast for the filter too fast for the filter to effectively remove the odor and other particulates from the air and it literally becomes ineffective. If your small filter is rated too low for your fan, your filter will not work effectively enough to remove the odors from the air. Basically, I'm thinking you may either need to get a smaller fan for that filter, or a larger filter for that fan, or, get the controller for that fan to turn it down to the rating for your filter.

Jandre yes I have heard of blow by and was afraid that it would happen in this small fikter. But with the speed control and one of the best speed controlled fans. I HAD HOPED that I could get by with it. If smell gets to bad and the reducer and filter do not do anything I'll order and 8in Phresh filter.

On another note jandre got some good & bad news for you & everyone else!! Well I got the whole grow room moved and in a safer more sure area. That being said not only is it safer but in a better location as far as ventilation goes. I also re arranged the inside of the tent are tearing the entire thing apart and moving it. So once doing this again, I figured out I could get the lights just a little higher..... that being said I now have 41in of clear space between top of bucket and leds! Awesome awesome work I feel on my end! When I saw the 40in mark I was pure excited. I wanted to post a pic but some reason my phone is acting funny tpday. Temps are 79F &57% humidity in tent! RIGHT IN RANGE?

Bad new: still waiting on the coco.... I did not think it would take this long to ship. I'm bout to dig a hole in my back yard and use soil for this grow!

I hate to say it, but you need a larger filter. I have 2 - 6" filters on 1 - 8" fan to ensure good flow. You kinda went the wrong way. And when that filter starts loading up, and it will, that 4" filter is worse than nothing at all. No exaust at all. (Don't shoot the messenger! )
