Bud Washing

Radogast....I'm in Ohio ànd not sure how big harvest will be but should be around 400-500 grams. I know, not much but it was only one plant and it was supposed to finish in 9 weeks but took 13, and even then I could have let it go another week but got tired of looking at it and i needed the room and was out of :tokin::blunt::ganjamon:smoke, lol. I think I'm done growing in Ohio winters. I could really use those boveda packs, like today!

Only a one pound plant with solid buds. Let me know when to act disappointed :)

Looks like DP put some Boveda packs in the mail while I was wasting my time working for a living.

You deserve good buds, and I for one, am perplexed. Thanks for sharing your details in the cause of better bud production.

Thanks Dutty, you dont know what your act of kindness means to me! When you say cure vault you mean what? That's another new term.

I don't have any citrus right now so I put a damp paper towel on top of the jars then screwed lid down as best I could. Anyone have thoughts on my method? Any input would be appreciated!

Radogast. ...why are you perplexed? Because I got about a pound? I'm kinda surprised too, but she kept growing and growing and just got big buds, lol. Yea, while you were wasting time at work it looks like Dutty beat you to it, but i very much appreciate your efforts, I really do! :thanks:

your paper towel is fine.

I think he was complimenting saying a pound on one plant is good. :thumb:

Do not use orange or lemon peel

Citrus fruit always has lots of mold spores. I use lettuce to re-hydrate cannabis that gets too dry.
My buddies and I have tried may things but fruit usually carries mold. Leafy greens work really well and don't seem to seed spores.

Don't worry, over-dry buds are very fragile, but can be restored.

:Namaste:

I've used orange peels (long ago) and yes if left too long they can grow mold.
They also change the flavor of the bud (faint but there) which is good if you want it and not if you don't, lol.

I had forgotten about lettuce, it does work.

You could also lay them on a tray on a high shelf in the bathroom when taking a hot shower :)

Lots of ways to re-hydrate buds, just don't overdo it.

Anyone know where I can buy dry ice for making hash?

Is it just the things people put in their coolers to keep lunch cold?

Ok guys...you all know the trouble I has with dry buds, well last night I put wet paper napkins on the rim of my quart jars then screwed the lids down as best I could.

Today i took off the napkins and my buds were nice and soft!!! Wooooo hoooooo! Lol

So I guess I dodged a big bullet? Now I have a question.

What should I do now? The buds have been cut for 6 days now, should i leave them in the jars with boveda packs and store the jars away in a cool, dark place for awhile? Is there something else I could /should be doing?

My sincere thanks to all of you for your help!

Skybound, Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide. It looks like compressed snow.
It's not the stuff in plastic bags that one uses to keep food cool.

Don't touch it with bare skin, including hands.

I'm perplexed about how your buds got crispy so fast. It doesn't seem to be a common experience.
SO GLAD to hear your buds are recovering :woohoo::party::happybday:
I think a one lb/plant indoor yield is a respectable yield. People have done better, but one lb is one lb.
Even one lb wet is what, 3oz dry?

I would HATE top lose a full plant (one lb or 3 oz) after months of veg and harvest.
Even chopping the males after 2-3 months veg makes me sad, but that is expected with non-feminized seeds.
Bad buds from bud washing is NOT acceptable. I'm hoping you get a full recovery.

Some beverage and or beer distributors carry dry ice.
It is the stuff that is used in older monster movies to look like a boiling smoking beaker in a lab or a cauldron in a dungeon somewhere..added to water it is heated so quickly it 'boils' the water with the bubbles, and the 'smoke' is like a cloud..
It will give you frostbite quite quickly if handled with bareskin...and compared to liquid nitrogen? :) liquid nitrogen is so cold it makes an old witches boob feel hot. :)

You weren't the only one perplexed as to how it dried so fast, man, I was flipping out over the dryness, but my basement is about 20rh right now so that didn't help matters.

As for yield I'm thrilled with it, I currently have 16 quart jars filled with a little over an ounce per of fairly dried material.

I'm very happy to have saved it after all the love and care I put into her, I don't work so I had lots of time to spend with her, thinking that all that time was wasted really bummed me out to say the least.

Yea, bad buds from washing would have sucked big time, I'm sure it was operator error more than anything.

Thanks for the well wishes on a full recovery, I think I got lucky, now I better make sure I cure right, I'm a little worried about curing cuz I've never really tried to do that before, usually I just dried and smoked, obviously I wasn't doing it right, ugh!

So anyway, should I put jars in fridge or keep in basement for now? I don't really have the room in fridge tho. So I kinda have to do the basement thing and burp a couple times a day. :volcano-smiley::thanks:
