Buckshot's Perpetual Grow, LED, Pro-Mix, Evolving Feeding Routine

I am a therapist working with indigent, rural children and their families. I'm enmeshed in an incredibly impoverished community and it's getting worse not better. No employment available. I like these kids a lot but the job is getting to me. It's horrible right now - surrounded by so much need and suffering. Seems like there's no way out for these folks.

I have saved enough to pay cash for a home like Dennise, probably gonna be a lot more modest though LOL. Hopefully soon 'cause I cannot watch this train wreck much longer.

Then I will smoke weed every day, heal physically and mentally [has already been working] and maybe have another go-round in a different community.

We're all really fortunate that we have the ability to grow our own sweet meds - Now lets make it legal across the board America!

I'm a libertarian capitalist who hasn't voted for a Democrat in 40 years and who has been a self-employed retailer for 25 years, just so ya know where I'm coming from. :cheesygrinsmiley:

But we're developing a serious problem in this economy/culture. We're allowing barriers to be established, making it very hard for working people to move up. Smaller and smaller businesses are beginning to use corporate hiring and management techniques, which reduce costs but callously screen workers out of the system. Employees aren't seen as individuals as much anymore. Businesses restructure to take individuality out of the work process, which reduces costs. Those who have control of the workplace are doing well while those who don't aren't.

So ... don't forget to listen just because you took the big risks, worked hard and succeeded.

But hell, I'm old, a 20th century man. My parents were born during the Great Depression.
I knew I loved you for some reason....:circle-of-love:
its just hard now they wanna take more taxes every year
and the waste in government is appalling
I have first hand experience right now in the state level
there are 4 building inspectors including me in the department I work in theres other departments with their own inspectors etc.
the supervising inspector comes in late leaves early gets paid for 8 hrs
he uses vacation time and goes and does side jobs
the guy that was there the longest that's under him isn't really qualified for the job
the lady that was hired 5-6 months before me is very qualified for the job as I am
me and the other inspector look at the funding and the upcoming jobs and see there is no need for 4 inspectors they could do it with 2 but they would actually have to work most of the time
the reason I keep hearing why they wont let me go and I have to resign to leave is because they don't want to lose their funding
in no other job have I ever worked would they keep you if theres no work you would get laid off
something is seriously wrong with the system that they do that and its been going on for a very long time
there was always rumors but now that I see it firsthand I know it isn't
theres a bunch of reasons why im trying to get out now
here in Hawaii the rich buy up all the property making it hard for the normal person to be able to buy a home
the median price for a home is in the 600 thousand dollar range
no median income person can afford that here, its not only about how hard a person works I know cause I work damn hard at whatever I do
sometimes the way the system works, and a lot of people that have a lot of money come here and drive prices up because they all wanna live here drives local families children out just because they cant afford to live here anymore
its a sad thing, politics and bullshit
it doesn't help anyone

edit one very sad thing a lot of people I talk to and these are people not working for the state
like some of the construction superintendents I talk to while trying to get work from them tell me its always been like that didn't you know, ist the benefits good they say? no it isn't the benefits was cut back in 2012because of the economy so if your a new hire you get the new package which sucks and not having work to do and just sitting there is ridiculous, the head of the department started to keep me busy cuase he noticed that I don't like just sitting around doing nothing and I will and do say something about it, shit we all hear the rumors but if all these idiots are sure it goes on and no one says nothing then as far as im concerned they are part of the problem too, I myself talk to everyone who will listen including a rep from our state legislature, my district house rep, who is part of the labor and industrial for the state. now the problem is getting everyone as a whole population and saying something needs to be done instead of making the taxpayers pay for stupidity and the inefficiency of the government and its workers, its like when my wifes goes to work she sees 3 city and county workers sitting in the truck while 2 of them are working. shit just ain't right and needs to change badly
I agree with every word you are saying... It has affected my fella immensely... I was out of the work force long before this administration took over... thank God!.... I am lucky in the fact that I live in one of the most affordable states in the country... We have no state tax thanks to the tourism of Dollywood and the Smokey Mountains and you can but a house for a family of 4... 3 BR, 2B... nice house say 2000 sq ft on a acre of land around here for around $119,00. and my property taxes on the house and land are about $300 a year... Now the biggest issue with it is there is no work left around here.... It used to be all factory and production work and the factories are all closed down now... Everything has been sent over seas... We put Americans out of work to save money on production by sending across the ocean.... Makes no sense to me at all.... I also agree with your lady... One of my biggest pet peeves is seeing a road crew with 4 guys sitting or standing around watching the 2 guys that are actually working....:circle-of-love:

God bless you for what you do and the burden it must make you feel you are carrying... I doubt your will buy a more modest home... If so you might want to check out that cardboard box flying down the street... To say my house is modest is quite the compliment... It is a tiny farm house with 2 BR and 1B... I am land rich and house poor but we are slowly and I do mean slowly getting it like I want it... Tin roof and new siding... New replacement windows in the spring.... Kitchen gets done in the spring... Already getting the appliances... but it is just so much nicer when it is all paid for......:circle-of-love:

Sorry I hijacked your journal but I wanted to tell you good job too and thanks for the reps+.....:circle-of-love:

Sistah D my home is about 750 sq ft
all I could really afford that had a yard for my boat its tiny but we all squeeze in

well other than the ladies in the house my wife and sons gf
and my little one
my two older boys if I gotta go I just tell them to gtfo I gotta go lol

The older I get the less time I have to discuss that particular situation when it arises.....

LOL! Yeah.

So, you get out of your car in the bigbox store parking lot and the *ahem* situation arises ... :thedoubletake: Whooo ... that bathroom is a longggg frightening way off.

[Edit] *groan* Now I'm participating in junking up Buck's journal with political opinion and senior bladder jokes. Tsk, sorry. Got any pretty pictures to get us back on track, Buckshot? :cheesygrinsmiley:

I had a bunch of replies in here, but I think Buckshot has a grow journal buried in here :biglaugh:

:cheesygrinsmiley: I think you will be able to sustain yourself with that room you got going!!! :cheesygrinsmiley: Are you going to a prospective world area?
I must be doing something wrong then. Let's talk frankly. While not my primary motivation for growing, the $$ is a reality. This room is not producing much $$. The medical market in WA is pretty saturated. While I realize it's about who you know, all the dispensaries in Spokane are "stocked up". Just this week I made my first donation to a dispensary down there. I've been trying for months. I do have a few local patients that provide donations. That helps cover my utilities and such, but I'm still a long way from recovering my investment in hardware. I've made a few trips to Seattle to a guy that can sit at the farmers' market all day, but that's a loooong way. My back does not like long car rides. At 4-5 hours, I'm gonna be in a lot of pain. I have to move around. Anyway, Spokane is ~4 hours in the car round trip, so I don't mind that too much. Seattle is a last resort, but even there the donation amounts are low.

I rarely talk about it here, or anywhere, because I hate it. Money is the primary reason I got out of growing in the 90's, and it's the part I hate now. Do you get any $$ coming in to help defer your costs? Feel free to decline to answer. :Namaste: Because I hate the topic, I am always reluctant to ask, but you sorta brought it up. :blalol:

OK sorry I'm done bitching :blalol:

I'm not sure what you mean by "prospective world area". :hmmmm:

I also have been to places in our country that I did not know existed, where folks live in serious poverty as a rule and escape to anywhere like say the military, is like living like a King.

That's pretty much the county I live in. (fyi, NOT Spokane county. much much smaller/poorer)

I look at my friends with children and wonder what the kids would do if they even wanted to stay in the area. It's tough out here!

The bright side is, if I can adapt to living here, I can live in other impoverished areas. :thumb:
Even those in other countries.

This is the last I'll say on your thread about the whole living abroad thing...
Take my current situation, ie cost of living, as the baseline. My goal is to move somewhere that meets the list of requirements we're working on. Some we are sure of, warm, access to healthy food/fresh produce, and most importantly, I want my total cost of living to be cut in half. Our goal is to be able to put away 50% of my wages. That is the #1 driver of the whole idea (#2 being warmth). If I can't achieve that goal, 50% cost of living, its not worth it to me.

OK, sorry to have derailed your thread so much. Although I do like talking to you about it since you have experience in other countries. :Namaste:

I love ALL the discussion!!! I am so slow to type I will post this now... I have a lot to say but no energy to write it. I took one pic. I will post it but NOT to get the thread back on track

I love you guys!

This smells really nice

Pretty pictures!! :yahoo:

Now that I think of it, Buckshot, you're the best on the forum. You're serious about your photography and you grow some spectacular plants to photograph. I sheepishly have to admit that I have trouble voting for a POTM or NOTM if the photography is crappy. Thanks for your beauties!

Grade A member who's earned my respect as not only a grower & photographer but as a person as well.

You hit on something I've been thinking about for a while now, Hiker. I once referred to it as a paper tiger falling; the saturation of the market and bottoming out of the prices when legalization and kind pot are everywhere. As a smoker I would have been in glee to see this very cheap and easy to grow plant drop down to its true value, but as a grower I'm thinking if I go that route I better hit it big at first and make my money. Being growers, I know I'm not the only one who watched the legalization process for Colorado and Washington state unfold on TV and think to myself when I listened to the dispensary owner talking about all the people and money "See those prices you got there pal? You got four months at best and your day is done."

dude that prices that $hit must got me fug dup with Thurston Howell III

Good subject :cheesygrinsmiley: One I've thought about, too.

If a guy wants to make money growing and doesn't want to be a big industry grower, there will always be subscription/club boutique type opportunities. If I could have a dozen customers at an ounce a month, I'd be delighted. The key would be producing the very best.

So I'm all about learning the subtleties of this plant. That'll always be marketable. :cheesygrinsmiley:
