British Green's 1st 420 Grow Journal

Is it heated? How does it work? As I'm trying to figure out how to get roots without the rapid rooters or rockwool or peat pellets. And I like making my own stuff. Been looking up aeroponic cloners.

No it's not heated and the seeds have been started in rock wool cubes and once they break ground and get a set of true leaves and then I put them in the net pots with damp pebbles and onto and damp tray . Then I just wait and water the clay pebbles until they have legs and then I put them in the starter tub which is just a big tub with a air stone in it

Lovely pictures mate!
I have never used the paper towel method as I deemed it too old school for my liking.
I use root it/rapid rooters to germ my seeds, I soak the plug and the seed in water , then I put the seed in the plug and tear off a bit from the bottom to cover the hole and put in my veg box. They normally rear their heads within 48 hours.

Lovely pictures mate, gave me something beautiful to wake up to!

Good morning BG, everything's looking good bro :thumb: Good luck with the regs, I'll do a little girly dance for ya :)

As for not using plugs, I tried it once in my misty clone dome. I did my usual soak in water till cracked then into almost vertical paper towel. When there was a 1/2" tap root, I placed it into a little basket of pebbles & off it went into the dome. It did work this way but the humidity in the dome is shite for seeds so if I did it again, I wouldn't use the dome.
I wont do it again though, I prefer the root riots :)

Me and you use very similar methods to root out seeds . I just started mine in cubes soaked in a bottled water like buxton and add a drop or two of super thrive :)

Excellent! Im ust get some super thrive! I had super vit from hesi but I lost it...damn tiny bottles!

I've only ever had a sample bottle of super-vit, I got home from the store & it was empty :(

I noticed you said you add a couple of drops of superthrive to your seed water, 1 drop treats 3L, don't ya know :)

I'm just trying to cut out any medium that I don't need. If I can clone or seed without any root Riot or the likes that's what I'm after. I started the paper towel way in 2 small saucers. Then transplanted to root riot or peat pellets. Peat pellets in my opinion are shite. I've had tap roots explode from the top as its easier for it to force up than dig out. And I use root riot. But after several runs in top drip I get some alien looking mushrooms or something growing on root riot and rockwool cubes. That's why I want to do without them. Looks like I will have to buy a pre made cloner for my needs.

Morning gd :) random your cubes are growing fungus and mushrooms because they are two wet and have to much light on them . When top feeding try and keep the top of the cubes slightly higher than the drip ring and also try to build up pebbles on top of the cube so its not visible :) and then nothing should grow from them other than your plant's :) I grow in buckets and don't have a dripper ring

Good morning BG:)....sorry to hear of the shite weather for you and Skunny...it is also shite here....cold and storming outside:/......same with my pooch....go to let him out this morning and he just stared up at me like i was retarded or something:rofl:....had to force him out:)lol

Random.....you can build your own bubble cloner a lot cheaper than buying a premade one.....just get a container with a good top on it.....i dont think i would go any taller than about 10 inches......buy an air pump and big air stone......you can get the 2 inch net pots pretty cheap as well.....as far as rapid rooters......i love them.....but i use an aerogarden for my seedlings and clones now...i use the plugs that come with the aerogarden which are skinnier and longer then the rapid rooters....and dont contain any specials like the rapid rooters....if i am right they have something in them good for seedlings.......
I wonder if you have to much water pressure for the drip ring.....sounds like the plug is staying to wet if it is growing shit out of it....if you can cut the amount of pressure back then maybe a good idea....i will slip over to your yard in a bit and look at your set up:)

Happy Daze all:)

Good Morning bro......did you mean to say morning to me?.....kind of freaked me out...my first post was 2 minutes after yours:)lol....you got ESP or something bro?:)lol

Yea its precisely all that messing about the reason I switched back to hydro from soil. And I did a bit of research that clarifies what you say about light on them. My system isn't just a top drip though. Its a sexy converted Wilma. Which is now a top drip rcdwc. As I made bigger holes so roots could hit the reservoir. So I've got 4 11 litre pots and a 30 litre res filled with roots pmsl. But yea I hate all the farting about transplanting from this to that. Has that white chronic got WW in it?

How is it working for you? I'm about to put the 5 x 25l XXL system in my tent and this idea sounds interesting!
I like the idea of extra root space and turning it into a RDWC

Honestly I've never had such vigorous growth in veg from any system. The only downside to the wilmas is cleaning the res. Not good when roots are through the support table. So it takes time. But imho I think the wilmas are a blank canvas to do with as you wish.

Edit: And you know what they say a big root system helps develop fatter buds.
