Brightlight's Strain Fest: Organics & LED

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Good day Bright my word that DosiDo Dosida da da did me
And man I wish my Dedoverde had come out as good as yours wonderful thanks for the pics:goodjob:

Jaga....I had been meaning to ask you how you like the Dedoverde? It's a hearty strain...this one was hit with the pH issues but delivered some good herb for me. Yield was down due to the pH stress, but I got some very enjoyable herb. Not the strongest but plenty strong enough & is a "happy place" strain for me. :high-five:

Morning Bright...wow lots of cool stuff here. I've been away from here for too long. Congrats on the harvest ...lots of pretty tasty looking nugs and a really cool looking light. And ya ...can never have too much eh. keep up the great work bright...cheers and good on ya bud!:)

Thanks duggan. Always good to see you brother. Have a great time in Jamaica.....bring back some of that famed island herb to smoke with us. Heard it's legal there now....always wondered how hard it is to score some dank down there? Saw on a TV show a Jamaican grower who grows all US & Euro hybrids now, no more local strains. Those landraces are dwindling everywhere. :passitleft:

I'm waiting for the day that the reflective coating inside the tent is just one big Light Emitting Surface, like the new COB lights. Jut plug your tent in lol, and step inside. Looks like you're halfway there, you got the ceiling module lol.

Your D Haze looks amazing again. Your ECSDH looks unlike any of the ones I've seen. She doesn't look tall, so she's not like the clone pheno I caught once and lost. She is looking more like the haze pheno I had, but with longer fingers, less roundness to the leafs, and your fingers are thinner on the fans with longer petties. The bud structure looks like a middle expression of the two that I have seen. That would be my pick if I could wave a magic wand over them lol....so I think you got a winner. Soon enough!

Can't wait till she's done. :circle-of-love:

Your lights embedded/integrated into the tent is seriously a great idea! Fun to think about the yields & quality that would deliver. :lot-o-toke:

I appreciate your comments on the ECSDH. Very helpful. The buds remind me of the SSSDH buds except on the ECSDH they grow way down stem. Leaves are delicate, slim & not "thick" using your test method. The "long" petioles are very distinctive. I never saw that in any of the SSSDH's. She's quite short....only ~20". I may have set a record for how high I had to prop her up to attain any semblance of an even canopy. Her GG4 tent mate turned out to be an Amazon in height. Short but lots of lateral branching that all have good bud development down from the tip. Hope she will continue to fill out....sometimes my 2 gal. pots seem a bit too small to plump out everything on plants with a multitude of heavily branching laterals.

Still raining like crazy in Calif. Flooding is beginning here & there. Some reservoirs full for the 1st time in yrs. At the coast we're getting 35' storm surf.

You know you can get the best photos period under sunlight.. That light looks like a monster. What the hell is it? Plants do recognize green light,,, just not much, least not enough to flip a plants sex. And I can truly say that either. I have a green CFL in my flower rooms ceiling. I use it whenever I need to and haven't had problems,,, or had I. I've had rouge pollen before,, and a hermie or two. Maybe some strains use more than others? Well I'm going to be alittle shy around 420 for afew days.. Looking forward to coming back and seeing the light all dialed in.... Keepem Green

You getting them monster lights setup? Is there alot of weight. I've always entertained the idea of LEDS. Now I can see they wood be great especially in tents. I believe one could have maximum light and penetration. I don't even have a clue what that thing is. Are you going in a tent with it?
Well Dude I'm alittle burnt, you know whats up. But wanted to say Keepem Green

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Great to see you back NCW...admirable that you're posting so soon. The Brightlight 2 will be the primary flower light. It will go into my 4x4x8' tent. At 37" square, I hope to flower 9 plants staying mostly right under the light's footprint. It says it will flower a 5x5 area, but I always go smaller for max. light. It only weighs 23 lbs. By contrast Brightlight 1 has 2x4' footprint & weighs 37 lbs. BL2 will gets its 1st grow w/ the seedlings that are ~2 wks. old. :high-five:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Mornin Bright , hope your groovin along on this Sat. A couple people interested in getting LED's. Just a bit of advise with that. Get more or bigger than the manufacturer suggests...Doc and i are running approx. twice what is said to be"enough" We don't want "enough" OK...we want way too much, that way we take that huge limiting factor out of the equation. look at Doc's set up with his Gavita's or mine with all those pars...then look at the big fat, hard buds and colas we grow. You simply can't do that without loads of light. Ya ,you will grow buds , but not big and hard...it can't be done without lots of light ...among other things of course. Hope this bit of shiz helps...cheers gang!:thumb:

Nice to know Duggan!
Ok you Vets........ I installed a 220 line for my HPS lights for their own circuit. Can I run my LEDS on the same line, or HAS to be 110??? That will suck if I cant run them on the 220. its a single line just for lights. I had a single 110 line installed for the portable AC that I wont be using...... EVER!!! :) So Ive got it solved if cant get a 220 LED.
So Duggan my 5x9 tent is rated at 2000w so I could/should get LEDS that are over 2000w?
3 hrs on the computer and time to go do the tent!!! Great Day and Thank You Brightlight for all your help!!!!
Wait, what about my HPS timer? Will I need a different timer for LED? Oh my HPS's are 110 but the box is 220 I think. So I guess the question is .... I figured it out, my 110 leds will hook up to the 220 timer and line just like the HPS's!!!! Yes! just get the LED's and plung them suckers in the same timer and wham, Im good to go!!! Yes??

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

LED's are mostly 110 to my knowledge Dutch. duggan's correct....go w/ as many lights as you can fit & afford (light cost & electricity). There are multiple types of LED so look around, read up & then go for it. Some are for hobby, some for commercial. I'm a hobbyist but both my lights are used in commercial growing too, which was comforting & persuasive to me. For your tent size, I'd put multiple lights in there. Using my lights as an example & a good solid fit in your tent....4 BL 1's = 2080w or 3 BL 2's = 1950w. Dream set up. Just typing it is getting me excited. :goof:

Dutchess...keep everything on 120 if you can OK...it's a lot more versatile, and your not saving electricity costs by using 240 OK. BTW there is no such voltage as 220 ...it's 240 OK. With single phase ..like we all have in our homes...it's 240 v. coming in off the street. Your either gonna use 120 volts (one main line +the identified conductor ..or the "neutral") or both of the main lines + the neutral which is 240 volts. If that 240 volt line you refered to, is a three wire cable , your golden, cuz it will have three wires in it plus the ground of course. If it is ,you can use each 'leg' or hot wire with the white...that will give you two full 120 v. circuits to use and draw from...hope it's a three wire cable and not just a two wire . I need to know more to get right into it and sort you out OK. please PM me and we can do that if you wish! cheers eh....:)

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Here's a few in flower now & at 40 days.

East Coast Sour Diesel Haze
A pronounced & distinctive grapefruit fragrance is starting to boom out. I often have a hard time pinpointing exactly what I smell but this one is easy. Just grapefruit, nothing else really.

LA Affie
This is another of some outdoor favorites that I've been wanting to try indoors. A 100% indica. Hard to much find anything 100% anymore. Flinty, incense, spice, hashy fragrance is my take. Breeder says pure Nag Champa.....an Indian incense that I've not ever smelled. Scratch & sniff feature on computer would be nice. Upper lateral bud & some lowers in 2nd pic.

Gorilla Dosha
Gorilla Glue 4 x DoSiDo. My 1st crack at GG4. Robust sativa leaning pheno....had to top, which barely fazed her...then multiple super crops & she straighten herself out of all of them. Made a mess out of any canopy control. Almost 4' as it is.
IMG_317716.jpg

3 wk. old seedlings doing ok...some interesting strains....both old reliable stand bys like 818 Headband & Sage n Sour & more modern exotics...a velvet cookies cross & a Buckeye Purple cross. These will be flowered by the new light.

Still have a few more harvest day & dried bud pics of Dec. harvest coming up w/ some impressions on them. Enjoy your gardens & your herb.

:peace: :Namaste:
