I'm running:
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, Service Pack 1
Browser1: Google Chrome, Version 63.0.3239.132 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Browser2: MS IE 11.0.9600.18920
PC: Lenovo M Series 4GB RAM

I'm seeing the Gallery in both browsers in the green bar near the top of the page between 'Entertainment' and the search icon. It is visible whether or not I'm signed in. To get the Chrome version, go to the three dots in the upper right, click 'Help,' click 'About Google Chrome' The exact version of your browser will help the debuggers.

I just updated Chrome to Version 64.0.3282.186 (Official Build) (64-bit). It works as well.

The crap never stops. Microsoft has been fighting for market share since the beginning. It's made writing HTML and other 'net code a real pain from day 1.

I get this:

Google Chrome is up to date
Version 64.0.3282.186 (Official Build) (64-bit)
And yes, my OS is also 64 bit, so no conflict there.

Still no sign of GALLERY in the aforementioned menu bar.

Hey guys! Great work :). I’d really like to be able to see mine and others signatures on mobile version! That’s all that’s bugging me. I can edit it and look at it in settings but I don’t see them on posts. Anywho, keep it green!

Edit: pictures! Why are they so hard to post? I’d like one click to my phone gallery and post like it used to be.
Are signatures working on mobile for you now?

Is there anyone who voted no or undecided in the poll above, that might be ready now to change their vote to yes?

That would mean a lot to all of us working hard for you behind the scenes. :thanks:

I haven't been here long but I personally much prefer the new design.

Just the little things in the UI I have noticed like the arrows that appear near the scroll bar to go to the top or bottom of the thread, the alert notification, the auto collapsed quotes in replies, and a few others I am forgetting right now really make my experience from a browser on a PC much more enjoyable.

I don't use the site very much on my mobile device, but It seems to work fine there in a browser (never used the app)

The only complaint I would have, and it was an issue with the older version as well. Is that sometimes the site is a bit slow to load for me, especially media (seems to happen pretty sporadically) . So maybe someone is working on server side issues like that.

Either way I am spoiled and have a direct to home fiber optic connection and may notice things like that more then other users and I can live with it easily.

Love the site, keep it up. Thank's for all the hard work.

Cheers

One feature I would like to have is like a bookmark or favs for post in threads.... Nice to have info from a post without having to comb back through pages

You can do that from a desktop. Every post is numbered in the top right hand corner. Your post is #287. If you right click, you can open the post in a new tab or page. If you bookmark this, it takes you right to the post. The link string looks like:

"httpss://wwww.420magazine.com/community/threads/brand-new-forums-gallery.442691/page-15#post-3904800"

(Note: I added extra letters to this to get it to post)

Ian

I understand. It could be possible to add it as another option now or at some point. It will be added to our list to investigate.

Thanks

When we get blogs back you can track those posts in a blog much more easily.

At this point I'm having no issues other than getting a cancel button on the original post compose box. Having one in edit is invaluable. You saved me so much time yesterday with that. :hugs:

I'm finding the new platform easy to maneuver and so fast it sometimes makes me gasp. Lol! Thank you all for the time and effort you put into making our experience more pleasurable and stress-free. :circle-of-love:

Wishlist stuff- which has probably occurred to everyone anyway- I've read lots of wishful thinking on 420 in the past around the idea of having sort of indexing options in a thread -so we can organize journals and threads better. Anything more than 20 pages, or 200, gets daunting. Hardly anyone subs to a long journal- because they are just so linear.
How cool it would be if we could have the option to create an overlay that would allow more fluid access - options to organize by chapters, feeding/growth cycles, or whichever crazy way we personally want to divide up the pie in our own threads.
Just a more dynamic and editable overlay to allow us to jump around more intuitively- while keeping the linear journal/blob intact.
Make sense? I'm not a techie so don't know the proper terms. ;)
The search thread function and blog post function helped a lot but in a workaround sort of way.

Sue - I'm wondering if you are able to view the forum in desktop mode on either your phone or ipad?

How about allowing a thread starter to edit the first post in a thread without a time limit. Put in a limitation such that the post cannot be deleted, and revert to the last version if the poster attempts this. That would allow the author to create an index to the thread, or create a summary as the grow, or time, goes on.

Oh yeah - great idea. :thumb:
That along with well placed keywords and the use of the thread search function would be amazing.
Many people don't get past post #1 anyway. But they probably would if they could see the path and not just the mountain.

Another good thing about that editable first post idea-

As it is now the first post of a grow journal thread, which is usually meant to contain overall info about the grow, quickly becomes outdated and irrelevant, making the situation even more challenging for the one who just wanders in.
Not only are they potentially facing a mountain of info with no path, it may not even be the mountain they think it is.

The issue with apostrophes turning into weird characters should now be resolved, can you all please check to see if you can find any more, so I can take it off my list? :thanks:

Am I right in thinking this looks like an app now? i double hit icon and it gives me desktop option but it doesn't seem to change..
side bar menu works well, once you learn the where's and how's, seems easier than before.. aesthetics is everything though and it'll be a leave. The old desktop view was much superior. This is too squashed in. I'm sure you could get 20 or more words a line, now it's 7-10.. also, everything feels a little less personal. But dont worry bout my opinion, as I know it'll be a minority. Instagram is massive and this seems to have same screen sizing..

Thank you Amy, please do both. :thanks:
Then, can you please help us test for the things the developers claim to be completed? :cheer:

I'm working with a skeleton crew today.

Here you go:

Some of these you will undoubtedly already know about, maybe even all, but seeing as you asked (and Sue is busy doing other important work :battingeyelashes: , and I don’t know where TS is) I thought I’d step up and have pulled all of this from this thread to date, and from a few other conversations. Some are also already fixed I think.

Bug/issue: (in no particular order)
  • Display of tables inserted in posts was broken in the transition (leaving only the code)
  • Apostrophes in all pre-existing content were garbled in the transition. (THIS IS FIXED! Just checked it :thumb: )
  • lost lists of subscribed threads (now called watched). Not always clear if they have disappeared for some people or if it was a question of finding them on the new platform. If they were lost and there is no way of restoring them, is there any way of retrieving these lists?
  • Some folks are finding that their efforts to re-instate email notifications for watched threads are hampered by intermittent success (difficult to clarify and I haven’t been able to reproduce, which doesn’t mean its not happening!).
  • POSSIBLY?: can only upload one pic at a time on mobile devices - again a few have said so, but I seem to be able to on iPhone - perhaps it android specific.
  • When opening a conversation - if you hit the enter key while the cursor is in the title/subject field, it launches the conversation without even asking you to confirm. This is not good!
  • The “new posts since...” pop up while replying is buggy - sometimes there is not actually any new posts when this prompt pops up (I tested this and it was fine - but others reported it so it’s here)
  • Maybe not a bug so much as a request - but the little square you click in next to a list of threads is so small that, on my iPad I have to be sooo careful when trying to click it or it just takes it as a click on the whole thread link!
  • After collecting numerous multi-quotes, if you change view (ie from mobile to desktop or vice versa) it ‘drops’ them all
  • Undo function (keystroke, ie ctl or cmd+z) does not work on iPad (with bluetooth keyboard)- in either desktop of mobile view. (All other keystrokes seem to be ok). I have not tested this on the desktop PC.
Requests/suggestions: (in no particular order)
  • “Search within Thread” feature (many, many requests for this)
  • “Thank you” button (many for this too)
  • An option to “Collapse” once you have expanded a long quote
  • Retrieve lists of subscriptions from prev platform and either reinstate or provide to members
  • Editable (but not deleteable) first post in a threads
  • A way to view you’re entire list of watched threads on one page
  • In mobile view, the 3 dots that harbour the menu containing the Edit function - if there are no other items earmarked to be added to this menu list, could it simply be an “edit’ button instead
  • Composing
    • A WYSIWYG option when composing
    • A ‘Go advanced’ option similar to the old site that takes you to a new page with more space.
    • A cancel button next to the compose box that clears its contents (there is one when you’re editing, but there’s no way to clear the window during reply except selecting all text and deleting, which is tedious. This is particularly relevant seeing as the site does such a good job of saving your content, and also to mobile devices with no easy way to select all + delete). This had many requests also
    • There’s a visual ‘animated swipe’ type effect that the page executes when you select to “Edit” a post. This feature is irritating to the eyes for some (possibly many users). It would be visually more friendly if this ‘feature’ were removed.
  • A ‘bookmark’ post function within journals.
  • A jump to most recent post button at the start of a thread with no unread posts (so if there’s no unread, the “Jump to new” button becomes “Jump to latest” or some such.
  • Thread title to be hung off the top of the window on all devices so you can easily see which thread you’re in regardless of where on the page you are. This could maybe be something that appears when you scroll a certain way farther than there all the time (although the 420 menu currently does that so that might be a conflict.)
  • A ‘night mode’ (or similar) option
  • On mobile device - the username of the most recent post in the thread list (if you can fit it in!)
  • I’m wondering if there’s room to include an add media button when viewing threads. One that would dump folks on the “choose category” page It would eliminate a step or 3...
  • A drag and drop option for adding files upload from a desktop computer
  • Just want to include here that as I scanned for these points, a huge amount of praise, thanks and enjoyment was present as well. There’s heaps of new features people really like and many folks managed to work their way around quite successfully just by exploring (which was true for me too).
  • When the blog feature is being coded, please make them (infinitely?) editable, or have the option to be editable by the original author. (This has been flagged as an excellent possible tool for those who manage long lists of resource threads that need to be kept up to date)
  • WHen you’re ‘in’ a conversation, could that page have a link at the top somewhere to start a new conversation please.
  • Please make the little checkboxes next to thread lists a bit bigger (esp for mobile views).
