Boo’s Perpetual Grow Journal

Baby Yoda. Been waiting for months to sew his mouth on. I have the equivalent of writer's block - but for some who plays with yarn.

Also waiting for the new season..

Found this on ebay:

"Here instruction how to make waterfall bong: puncture a small hole on the bottom of an empty plastic bottle. Plug the hole by your finger, fill with water and place your filled bong cap on the top. Light the stuff and open the hole. While water drains the bottle fills with smoke. Remove the bong socket and inhale the smoke."

News to me...I'd never heard of them...
That is so bassackwards. Messy, too.
It’s a bucket bong.
Cut the entire bottom from a soda bottle.
Fill cap with flower.
Insert cut soda bottle neck deep into bucket of water.
Fit cap.
Hold lighter beside cap while gently lifting the bottle. It fills with smoke.
Remove cap.
Follow your nose. (Wrangle it to your face and spill heaps, or what’s best is to get your mouth above it while you gently sink the bottle again. Heehaw!)
Repeat.

Then
stand up again,
:goodluck:

I say again..Ridiculous. kid stuff!

Okay. Let's do a little update. Geez. It's been hot hot hot here! No break in sight unless we get thunderstorms - and we finally did this evening. It was nice to have temperature briefly in the high 70s.

So my two little seedlings BOTH showed signs of preflower today. One is 5 w|KS and one is about three weeks (!). Zkittles and Bruce Banner.

Here is the Zkittles. She is a beauty. No issues with her and she has a good little stretch going on. I transplanted her into a 3 gallon pot today and upped the MC to 5 grams per gallon for her. Fingers crossed she isn't unhappy about it. She was already getting 4 grams per gallon so it shouldn't be too big a shock. She is 18" tall right now.

The Bruce Banner has been a little bitch. This is my second seed drop and it just hasn't been entirely happy with anything so far. Hopefully her new big 3 gallon pot will help also. She is 8" tall right now.

It's MLB Opening Day!!! Glad to be able to at least watch/listen to the Nats again. :circle-of-love:

Here are a couple of pics of the tall Cindy outside. Again, taken out the window.

She is taller than I am so I need to look at her top from inside the Playhouse. Here are some side shots:

They are at 6g /gal MC every day and they are not happy if the don't get it. The ice suggestion from @AmyGardner has saved this outdoor grow for me, so thank you Amy!

Here are two more of the tent girls. I have switched them to 10/14 effective this evening. Fingers crossed this speeds things up a bit and I can outrun my mite problem.

I'll say! Leggy leggy leggy :)

The thing with MC is not to push the plants once you get to ~4g/gallon. At that point you watch the lower leaves for any sign of fading, which indicates a need for more nitrogen. Then bump the MC by 0.5g and see if the fade stops. You can use that method straight through harvest.
I can outrun my mite problem.
Is the iso spray every three days not keeping them in check?

Seriously! Wish I had legs like that!

Ah. Okay. But how soon will you see the fading? The next day? Two, three days? The Zkittles has taken all of it well so far, I think. :eye-roll: The Bruce has had complaints from the beginning (some fading in the first true leaves), perhaps LACK of nutes related... :hmmmm:

Oh man, YES it is. Thank you @InTheShed for saving my indoor grow! I’m a Nervous Nellie. If it can go wrong, it will! It has been soooo very hot here that I’ve got my tent open from the time the lights come on until the moment they go off. I’ve got fans inside and outside of the tent. Today I rigged up a Rube Goldberg type thing to suck the air out of the top of the tent in an attempt to keep it a little cooler (and hopefully less humid?) during the dark hours. I fear that the amount of iso I’m spraying, along with the melting daily temperatures (a problem within the Playhouse I need to fix), coupled with the ups and downs of closed tent temps and humidity is creating a roller coaster for bud rot or some other yet known issue to me. :) And, at the moment, this is my best crop so far and I want to expedite it to a safe, smokable end. Hopefully that all makes rational sense? :meditate:

I find that nothing can save the first true leaves so I ignore those and often take them off during early trimming. There isn't a time period when lower fans will start to fade as it's just based on the plant's needs at the moment. Having a bit of fade on the lowers and then upping the g/gallon is much better in terms of plant health rather than over-feeding and possibly creating lock-outs and deficiencies.

In terms of the RH in the tent, try spraying the iso just after lights on, let them dry a bit, and then crank the circulation fans to dry them off faster. You don't need to completely saturate the buds because the mites are on the leaves.

If every three days is too much humidity-wise, go to four days, but I'd go with every three and put a box fan in front of the tent 30 minutes after you spray since you have the tent open anyway!

One of my weaknesses right now is trimming. I'm not good at that and I think I need to be..

How long does it take for fade in seedlings?

I have been doing it first thing in the morning outside of the tent on my little deck outside. There is usually a breeze, and I spray the tent while they are drying. I have been trying to stay away from the buds while holding the little bud leaves up so I can spray them!

I have the box fan going for most of the day recently. I don't think every three days is too much. It seems like the mixture dries fairly quickly.

seed delivery is now at 2 weeks and counting...
Patience grasshopper :meditate:

I had some just arrive recently that were first sent inMarch - resent in June. Times are stretchy in the global postage world right now ...
Sorry for posting so many pics. I'm kinda in love with these gals. I'll go with these again, despite the fact that they are not autos.

Beautiful flower!

I have some C 99 I’m still yet to run.
Very appealing, your flowers :)

Busy couple of days here. Let's start with a couple photos of the Bruce Banner auto and the Zkittles auto. Both are doing well so far. Loving the time outside and giving a good stretch still. Here is the Bruce:

And here is the Zkittles:

I also have a Dreamberry auto and an Ultra Lemon Haze auto that popped out of the ground yesterday so we are rocking and rolling now (fingers crossed). Pics of those later in the week. Stay safe and keep smiling!

I finally got the kiln and potters wheel moved out of the corner of the Playhouse and that freed up a good amount of space. I took the opportunity to do some rearranging a since the addition of the tent extension caused me to move it out of its "tucked in" spot and away from the wall by about two feet. Here is the new arrangement:
This is walking in the door, straight ahead is where the kiln and wheel used to be.

The tent pulled forward to make room for the height extension.

And a view from the back corner of the inside.

Tucked away in this corner, to the right of the tent will be this:

I got this (and several other items) at an estate sale about 15 years ago and had it in the garage to keep all my car washing stuff and snow shovels, Ice scrapers, etc. in. My plan is to put it here:
IMG_20200726_082408.jpg

My plan is to add a second, removable shelf in the center and hang two blurples in there for seed starting. I have some stuff to do still so any suggestions are welcome!

That's a nice cabinet! You might add some vent holes to let some air in and out, but it doesn't need much else.
Your playhouse is sweet!
