You know, I think when you get smashed wth one fuck up after another you absolutely need a hug and a poor you and some basic kindness and understanding. Bad stuff happens to good people, and sometimes it just feels like you are drowning in bad luck. That’s not a Pity Party, that’s just needing basic human kindness.

I‘m frustrated and gutted for you too. I’m glad you have a group of merry mischievous misfits like us to catch you when you’re having shit luck and need a friend.

it’s nice to have friends like you and everyone else here!
I was able to get everything back to the way it was before the yard maintenance line bursting... plus a lil farther then I was... it’s Easter weekend so I’ve been hanging out with the wife and kids as much as I can this weekend (when we’re not cleaning and getting ready for the big supper tomorrow).
I’ll get around to doing more in the basement next week. That stuff can wait.

Your a good tradesmen and you are from Berta brother you will get there , I know how much it sucks to do dry wall and how long and boring it is by yourself and covid isn't helping

saw your drywall dilemma post just now. What a nut kick . hope you suss the culprit. We don't build basements in out tiny houses here in the uk because of damp. Have lived in older properties that had them but were always old coal storage or smelly , dank and rotting relics from bad conditions. ground here holds too much moisture I think . can't imagine how down you felt. hope you can nail it soon.

girls are looking top notch though. dragon is an odd little lady. Will make for interesting harvests.,Variety being the spice of life and all that. lol

yeah thanks man! It was truly a low blow! I know better to not leave the hose on the outside tap, but slipped my mind after filling my hot tub back up weeks prior... ohh well, what’s done is done, and I can’t be upset at that, just look forward!!
Basements here are damp (if you let them, as well). We have a 12inch (or so) concrete foundation, that is about 8 feet tall, then insulate and vapour barrier the walls properly, then have a dehumidifier down there and it’s actually a nice chill zone. Especially in the summer, because it’s like 15 degrees colder then upstairs!

Oh man, I'm just catching up now - I'm not getting notification now for some reason! Water damage and set backs can be frustrating as hell - small comfort in the fact that you know what went wrong. I sure don't blame you for taking a step back. Shift focus for a bit and come back with fresh eyes and mind set.
Take a deep breath, hug the kids and take a break!!! I feel your pain.

yeah I got lucky because like @greenjeans said, at least I was able to diagnose the problem right away! Then the water damage before happened because the weeping tile drain valve was rusted shut, so all the ground water had no where to escape and it eventually got to be too much pressure on the foundation and eventually just started seeping in through cracks on the ground floor. I can’t think about that time though! It was all just so unfortunate situations. I can only look forward and focus on getting it finished lol.

hey @Backlipslide, there are these little containers of calcium chloride at dollar stores. It might be a good idea to grab a couple and set in your wall before you seal it back up. It will fill with water as it sucks the moisture out area. Probably need like 5-10 or a big container not from the dollar store.

I just created an air flow from one corner of the basement to the other side of the wall and tunneled air flow through it for a week, and it’ll just have to do! Got it all covered back up and just waiting the final coat of mud then final sand and I’m ready to paint the walls. Then I gotta pretend like I’m a tile layer, and tile my bathroom...
That’s one thing I’ve never done. Watched it be done... but never personally done it my self.

I missed the horror show BLS. I'm just catching up now. I don't know about you but I tend to find myself having tattoos during or shortly after crises lol. Enjoy it. This definitely is worthy of a tattoo. Had you planned for it before everything went down? What are you getting done? I hope it is all plain sailing for you going forward.

One of my best friends is a jr artist at a very well known tattoo shop in west Edmonton mall and I had told him he could tattoo my leg for practice. He got a couple small pieces done and then I never got around to seeing him again for another. He recently moved to a shop closer to home, and I was able to get another piece done.
I think we decided on a rugrats themed leg sleeve (minus the maple leaf he first did on my leg)
Rugrats is an old tv show I used to watch as a child. I loved that shit! Lol
So I got a tattoo of chuckie finster (from the show) but with a bit of my tattoo artists flare. He’s eating a tab of acid
I posted it in the Alberta photo dump, but I noticed it didn’t work. I’ll have to repost it.
I also got a phrase from a book my mom used to read to me as a child on my other leg. I had posted it in the alberta photo dump as well but failed on me as well.

I been wanting some fresh ink also. I’m not paying 1000 bucks for a couple hours of work though. I been wait for a junky with some talent to get it the joint, then I will get sprayed up. Or maybe my next number( god forbid) lol. Man it’s crazy how much tattooing goes on in prison! The guys reminded me of prairie dogs, there’s one cop and 120 goons in the block, there will be like 3 guys sitting up on bunk beds keeping a lookout for the cops. It’s funny cuz most the cops don’t care then the other ones will send you to a higher lever security prison if you caught with tattoo stuff. Even a needle! Crazy huh. Lol

That’s kind of what I was holding off for... a friend with some talent, who wants to practice on me for cheap. Haha well, I got a guy, now I just gotta put in the hours... then convince him to bring his guns home and do a good sitting outside the shop lol...

The other one was a last minute thought. My mom used to read a book to me as a child called, love you forever. So I got it for my mom. She bought me that book as a gift to read to my daughter when she was born 4 years ago, and I never truly understood the meaning of that book till I started reading it to my daughter. It’s a book I hold close to my heart...

Hahah thanks copper! I laughed because when I was filming this, I literally felt like I was shaking because I was starting to get the hunger shakes. I just filmed it with my iPhone. I have a pop socket on the back of the phone and that’s how I hold my phone (when I’m holding it). So, to answer that, I would have to say it’s the pop socket on the back of my phone I hang on to.
