Bill C-45: Canada's Legalization, The Drama Revs Up

Singing: O Cannabis . . . :ganjamon:

The long wait gives the popo time to crack down hard on the illegal dispensaries. The local cops, the rcmp, taxation Canada etc etc will be all hands on deck over the next few months to irradicate the visible black market.

They were saying 8-12 weeks after receiving Royal Ascent... This will be 15-16 weeks! I wonder why they extended it?

I look forward to smoking in public in the mean time, see what reaction the police have, lol...

That brings up a question, because I grow my own, I don't have it in a marked container from an LP, what do I need to have with me, a copy of my prescription? A copy of my grow authorization?

I do carry a copy of my prescription, it's valid for a year... but doesn't say anything about growing, so I could theoretically be walking around with contraband pot.

You ARE walking around with illegal pot. At this time, pre October 17, only LP pot in LP containers is legal. I dont know if they would go so far as to test the cannabis to determine its source.

Not quite...
Those of us with a grow license can grow, and carry any variety, just about anywhere, without legal problems.

I carry an electronic copy of my prescription and grow license on a USB drive attached to my key ring.

Yes, the timing is such that an outdoor crop is impossible this year. Folks will be hard pressed to have an indoor crop ready to harvest by year's end, even if they can get seeds or clones on Oct 17. Valentine's Day for the first dried and cured legally grown recreational cannabis seems about right.

I agree but I wasn't sure if odam2k has a grow permit / license. If yes, that paperwork should explain what can be 'transported'.

Yes, I stated I do carry a COPY of my prescription with me, so I am legally allowed to carry it around, I just wondered if my script was enough, or if I also need to carry a COPY of my grow authorization form...

Unfortunately, there is no indication of requirements for carrying it around with me... My own script is 4g/day, so technically I guess I can carry around a quarter pound! lol...

I wish it were true....
"At his news conference, Mr. Trudeau said the government is treating cannabis the same as alcohol and tobacco.

That's a false statement. The truth is that the government is going to treat alcohol and tobacco the same as cannabis. The rules for cannabis are new, and they are changing the law for alcohol and tobacco to match what they have done with cannabis. This is being done with Bill C-46 which will be proclaimed as law in time for the summer vacation season.

Bill C-46 is the one allowing roadside checks by the police without probable cause.

Halifax has gone ahead and banned the use of all three on public property, including the sidewalks. Outdoor growing has been banned in the metropolitan areas in the Halifax Regional Municipality as well.

Has anyone read what happens if you go over the 4 plant limit? I read through the law and as near as I can tell all the possible punishments are on the table with no clear guidance yet.

I'd ideally like to have a couple more going to keep things rolling along smoothly. With the 4 limit having a mother plant seems like a waste. Keeping a separate veg and flower area does too. The only thing I can think if u stuck to 4 is go with autos and plant one every couple weeks.

Thoughts?

I think July 1st was a poor choice. Canada Day would have been forever more known as Cannabis Day.
I just see it as Canada day would be epic as cannabis /Canada strong lol
