BigBearNTX Perpetual Auto Grow

Looks like fat colas for you and slingshots for the kids :thumb:
My kids have four legs, but I don’t think I’m going let them chew on these. Lol

Hey awesome! Nice long cola branches on them. I think it’s going to be great to see how they finish up with different amounts of trimming.

Love those spiralling bud towers!:yummy:

It’s my attempt at a SOG. We shall see how it goes. I figure I have another four weeks still. These have been slow bloomers, and have gone through a lot of stress with the changes in tent, lights, and humidity. But yeah, I’m excited. I envy folks who can show off colas as long as their forearm. I may get to do that soon-ish. :)

Nice work...IMO 3K is better suited for flowering, and maybe even a little lower than that for our plants. I have always thought of 4K as a SLOW vegging light. Growth supposedly is a little more restrained under 4K lights....sure, you will get bud either way, but flowering under a 2800 to 3500 K is possibly best until you change environmental factors like temp and co2.

Very impressed with all your work, and yes I hate compression fittings of any sort.

Now, you had better post larger photos or the photo police might come and cite you.

Just click on the photo for the large version. It takes forever some some pages to load because of all the full size photos, so I’ve been trying to load thumbnails to make loading faster. I read on my phone, so I can zoom in easily, and also have the choice of clicking on it for full size.

That’s good to hear. Since I have limited space and resources, I wanted a versatile light, both for autos and photos, which is why I was second guessing my choice in color temp. But then again, I’m not a commercial grower, so the difference between color spectrum for me should be minimal. For my grows, I think the true improvement is going to be in temperature reduction come summer, coverage, and intensity, all of which will be improved with the QB.

Funny you should mention humidity, because there has been a change in the past two weeks since I got the larger tent, and because I’ve been having problems with the inline fan for exhaust.

Since upgrading my tent, my feeding schedule has changed. Previously, my plants would be ready for water/nutes every two days, three days max. On the third day, they would be light as a feather - but not drooping.

Since the change, the temp in the tent is lower, and the humidity is higher, so they aren’t going through water/nutes as fast - even at three days the pots are still pretty heavy. I blame this on lower temps, because there is more cubic space my lights aren’t heating the tent up as much, and the fan not being as efficient at exhausting the air, and so my humidity is higher.

Right now I’m growing in 2L hempy with perlite and coco, and at this stage of growth the humidity is okay, but I don’t want to run the risk of mold in the last stage of the grow when the buds start getting dense. Mold has never been a problem for me, but it may be something that’s I have to watch out for until I get everything dialed in again.

Just goes to show that changing one variable can knock everything out of alignment, and right now I have two variables that have changed.

And you have a great day too, NS!

Woah i totally missed this bear!

Like others mentioned i think the light choice is good and you will be happy with it :cheer:

Moist.. it can be a pain in the behind... lol I never realised cold temps create a better environment for fungi and so. The humidity sounds a little to much with dripping walls and so, but what i can make out of it you got this fixed :)

Changing the feeding is something that can suprise you, to bad it can go either way hehe. When i changed my feedings i finally locked in(ish) and i will be hard to convince using other nutes then i use now. Maybe go a little light in feeding?

All togtether it is interesting since i will create a bigger and better grow space in my new home. Not sure if i should make a small room or tents/ boxes... so many choice and i'm kinda nervous i'll have problems getting all the variables locked in.

I'm sure you lock these baby's in no-time bear! :woohoo:

Morning NS!

Thanks for the encouragement about the lights. I’ll just put that worry to the back of my mind and keep moving forward.

This is the first time I’ve had such problems with humidity. It’s gone down to managable levels, but it’s still higher than what I would normally run. It sat at about 50% this morning. I’m used to seeing it in the low 30’s. It will sort itself out with time, I think. I’m not planning on running this many plants again for a while, that will help. Also changing environmental factors in the room outside the closet will effect it. We will switch back to air conditioning in about a month and that will dry out any ambient air. If I can vent out of the closet, that would also help. I can work on all of that.

As for feeding, I consider myself a light feeder. I don’t really push the plants with nutes. I probably could but since I grow in hempy, my plants are sitting in the nutes solution all the time. On the other hand, if I increase the nutes too much, it’s easy to flush the nutrients out of the medium and start over.

For your new grow area, I would start slow. I worry about you making too large of a space to care for, especially on bad days. Or too large of a space for you to access easily. And I have a hunch that it wouldn’t do well for your mood if you were forced to neglect your plants because you had to take care of your own health first.

But the new place sounds awesome!

Wonderfull! Light worries....gone, Moist... well lets work on that! During my working years ive spend alot time in technique... i like to take that into my grow every now and then to see if i still got it. A funny thing to mention, when you lower you fan a bit(if possible) your humidity might drop a little. Cant exactly give you the math on that one but it worked in my box. Maybe its my specific equipment that works a little different but it could be worth a shot right?

About my new box.. you are so dang spot on with the bad days and to much to care for. When i think about my meds it mostly is in possibility's, a good thing mostly but i can be suprisingly blind for red lights or buzzers going off in my head. I will expand the box, but to a size still managable. Thank you for thinking with me on that one. i really need that.

I might want to build the door big enough to i can wheel to it at bad days? so many optionso_O

I hadn’t thought about the fan speed increasing humidity. I would think it would be the opposite, low fan rate would equal higher humidity. Perhaps the higher fan rate causes a higher evaporation rate from the medium and increases humidity that way, and it may not be due to plant respiration. Worth a shot!

And yes, make your grow space as chair friendly as possible. Try not to run out of spoons (energy) doing the small things, so you can devote more spoons to the things you want to do.

Pulling up a seat, don’t mind me :passitleft:
Welcome @Pjs420! Always room here. It’s a fairly slow moving journal, so easy to keep up with. Lol

I cant give you Numbers, but I am curious If it works :cheer: the box Will be a spirit custom, cant wait to get started already :D

@Pjs420 please do jump in every comment is worth reading here so far:Namaste::circle-of-love:

Yeah If i lay still for a few hours I’m kinda ok to;)

The fact that your intention is to help already is really Nice of you. I Will involve all of you as I go true the process so who knows Where i can take suggestions and improve while building:Namaste:

Nice to see others who know about ‘spoons’ - saw a funny blog post the other day where someone was coming from the perspective that they get forks instead! It was highlarious to me... I feel like that - even my spoons have spikes! :laughtwo: It’s actually not very funny, but I do try to laugh about some of the scenarios as often as I can :)

(@NaturalSpirit) Hey NS - I’m about to be getting my outdoor garden made accessible which is very exciting for the future. Some indoor adaptions coming too. Sometimes I think we (you and I) are managing something very similar. I agree w Bear that if you can keep chair access in mind with everything you build/make you’ll thank yourself later (we’re having to change some things that we built here). I have my worst moments of frustration/disappointment when I know that the garden needs something and the only reason I can’t do it is because it’s a day where walking can’t happen - when I have a chair and access, this won’t happen anymore. (There’ll still be days when I can’t go to the garden, but it won’t be because of lack of access!). A chair is prob’ly 6months or so away for me - we hire them for outings sometimes and I have a walker at home - and I’m so looking forward to the freedom it will give me. :Namaste:

Dripping walls sounds pretty startling Bear - I think 50% is ok if you can keep it there. In the 30s might be too low depending on your temps.

Have you checked out any Vapour Pressure Deficit info to work out your sweet spots? I’m thinking about getting an environmental controller for the next tent grow - trying to take some of the thought burden out of it :ganjamon:

Wishes of great and green days to all :passitleft:

Yeah, having it basically rain in the tent was a bit disturbing. Lol. Normally it’s between 30-40% and about 23/25c during lights on. Last summer it was about 30c or more during lights on. It has been cold here lately though. I’m interested to see what happens this year.

Vapor (or Vapour) Pressure Deficit seems like something I’m going to have to study a bit. It was a too dense for me to understand in the quick skimming I just did.

Thinking of you and your grow last year with the cage out in the forest is what I was thinking about when thinking about NS’s considerations about access. I know getting out to tend your plants in the bush was difficult at times. hugs

And we found out we have the same rare condition, including the subclass. What are the odds!

I am so happy for you that the garden Will be so much more easy to acces for ya, we should great a wheelchair friendly 420 map trueout the planet :cheer:

Let them roll their eye while we roll our spinners(Thats a cool idea!)

How are the drips doing bear? Did they fly out by now?

Thanks Bear! :hugs: It’s why I’m not doing Iike that this year, last year I didn’t know I had the specific condition and I pushed in the wrong ways so declined over the season. I have exciting plans developing in my sketch book for when legalisation comes here. I know exactly where my dedicated grow area is going and i’ll Be continually researching different ways of setting it up. That particular plan is years away from being real but I expect to be really ready :thumb:

That’s interesting. InTheShed is having unseasonably cold weather in California as well, as so have we here all the way across the Pacific - curious...

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed it, but I feel like the last couple years the seasons have been slowly changing... summer starts later and finishes later... winter seems to do the same....entirely possible I’m just a little crazy though lol
