I still love trimming no matter how tedious everyone makes it out to be:)
Happy Skunkday BID and Spiffy:)

Just a fast drive by. Seen you had heat issues. When that ambient temp rises you are at it mercy unless you got a decent AC unit. Temps here went up over 100 acouple days and I had to drop my lights down from the 1500 waters to 1000 waters to help out. The day the heat hit, every shop in town was sold out of the portable AC units. But I guess I need to break down and get one. No use in only growing half the quality I could with just alittle AC. I guess it's time this tight wad spends afew more buck on my room. Hope alls growing great in your world. Sorry I haven't been over to take alookie in awhile. Keepem Green

thank you fishy im waiting on my gdp thats years in the making so the trim was not as frustrating i should have just gotten ripped and trimmed it but i tend to get too detailed or just sit there watching whatever movie i have on my pc jaw agape, trimmer in one hand bud in the other...:trance:

no prob wood,i do the same thing, i need an ac for that room, but i no hava casha! lol the weather has eased up some i just keep adding sugar water to my co2 bucket,it seems to help,i almost went & ripped a unit off my rv and jury rigged it into my tent but that day it rained and the 100+ heatwave broke, my room monitor thermometer has been staying 85 and below, and signs of stress have stopped,im very grateful for that, they are growing and swelling so weather co operating i should be ok, monsoon season is here so now its just power outages to worry about im hoping they are not as bad as last year at 1 point i was 4 hours off on my timers, gotta roll em fwd when the power comes back on.this was gonna be my best grow ever but now its not so certain lol.

Great set-up, BID :)

I hope you get the LED :)

Is High-Brix just High-nutrient feeding? Like brix as in sugar concentration?

Sorry if that's a stupid question,

but I have just discovered coir-dust slabs in the dollar store.

I will be posting on your Loco coco thread once I have read it all.

I have a "Tomizzle my Bizzle" in coir, testing Medi-One

for an organic coco grow With Arjans Haze #2, now sprouting in coir in a peat pot.

I'm glad you use coco :)

Good weed and good health to you and Spiffy :)

OK BID, you talked me into it, I have an afghan kush that's comin up to whack in 1 week, this is exactly what I'm gonna do so please correct me if I have something wrong; I'm gonna get a gallon water to 190 degrees, add 1 tsp each of baking soda and lemon juice. I'm putting half this plant in the hot water mixture and agitate it gently til I see the water getting dirty and I think it's had enough, then I'm going to rinse it off in water that's like 90 degrees, that water should remain pretty clean...if not I didn't wash it enough in the hotter water. Then I'm going to gently shake it off and dry it normally........as normal as I can in this heat! All this will happen after a real conservative trim...the indicas give me almost 0 trim....growers cut...LOL. I like a certain amount of sugar leaf in all my finished product, I think it helps it burn more evenly in a joint, which is all I smoke unless I'm smoking hash, in which I have like an old guys tobacco pipe I call the hash monkey that's never had anything but hash smoked in it.

shoot i hope i do too! lol that would be sweet! hig brix growing is a little more than hi nutrients, its purpose built highly milneralized soil (in my case coco) with the right balance of phosphorous and calcium, most soils are way to high in potassuim, but some very bland soils like promix hp and i think sunshine#4 and coco are a goob base you then add minerals and so forth, followed by foliar sprays ans teas, its a whole different way of looking at growing after much reading and unlearning the NPK way of thinking its fairly easy im on a mission to prove it can be done in coco, look up ag labs inc,& t&j industries high brix home.co m for some good reading, our member docbud brought hb growing cannabis to this forum, but the idea is been around along time for other crops, curso uses docs kit along with many others, i have decided to take the hard path and go my own way using coco, if i fail so be it but i'll know more for my expirence ,im just not one to take the path of least resistance,i like it rough lol, thank for stopping by welcome to my insanity, ps. COCO ROCKS!

Bid, we have ac's for you, between me and s1ingblade...............it's just the logistics of the delivery.........f'n gas is sooooo high!
i really apprecieate the gesture,i dont know how to bridge the gap im yet again a broke ass! the damn bill paying gets me everytime

sounds pretty good i would go colder like as cold as the tap will go,and maybe a little ice to get it down to 50f, i find the colors pop the more extreme the temps tho i have not exceeded 150f

Yeah I wouldn't go over 165 to be honest anything much hotter might wilt your produce.

Re: BID 5.1 Digital Dual JDL 600s - 4x4 - Blue Planet Nutrients - Organic Coco Perpet

Hey BID

Hope the temps ease up on you soon! We've been having some high temps up here in NE WA. I almost asked why your leaves were curling until I remembered the heat discussion. :blalol:

Sounds like you might be able to get an AC from one of the grower angels here

Props to Sl1ng and McL :Thumb:

wow you guys im utterly humbled buy your words, honestly im sitting here crying like a baby,(combination of pain and your thoughtful commentary) mornings are tough for me my morning routine involves taking meds, waiting, drinking coffee, waiting, smoking herb waiting taking meds, waiting after 3-4 hours i might be able to get up & get dressed,im feeling like a whiner, happy fourth gang i hope you all have a great holiday weekend,im gonna try to manage some bbq boogers lol , you guys are the most amazing bunch of ppl ive ever found all in one place, thats crazy in this day & age !
as for the testing i have tried to make sure that what i was posting was as accurate as possible, i tested regular store bought veggies they all tested pretty spot on for the scales ive found online pretty low ,then i tested my plants in the greenhouse grown in soil and some in coco one thing i did notice was tomato plants the same age both being fed the same getting the same natures own tea and high brix sprays amaze/pgr ,the ones in coco tested higher! its an exhaustive process testing cleaning the refracto checking calibration with distilled water rinse repeat, the only thing i can say is i think coco is the common difference that all the higher testing plants have soil tomato 7 brix coco brix 15 double the score same greenhouse side by side the coco plant is bigger by alot thicker stems more foilage higher brix ,i have tried to be as scientificicalish as i can ,in the end IDGAF! what the tests read i know what my friends say to me about my produce both food and medicinal, i have been told i have found my true calling in life, best ive ever had! (that one is actually getting old lol) its alot of lip service im expecting to hear when im giving it away free, at the end of the day im my worst critic ,but i know this my meds are the most potent and highest quality i have ever had,i grow for me so im who i have to please, and tho i see plenty of room for improvment, im happy with where im at,its finding those magical strains that fix me thats my focus, and of course working on my breeding program when i can..fu__ a high brix score! its really nothing more than another thing to complicate things, it was fun for a min,
thank you all for being the great and supportive waking up to this much love no way i can have aother bad day!

I was intrigued by your high brix experiments. Your methodology seemed sound to me. If your able to repeat others' results with other plants, ie your veggie tests, it sounds like your testing methods are fine. Just because someone doesn't believe a result, doesn't mean it's bad. This is basic scientific method.

You're theory is that coco coir does something to help plants achieve high brix. Your results seem to support your theory. Has anyone produced results to refute the theory? If not, then your theory gains credibility. I'm far from being in a position to do this sort of experimentation, but I am already assuming I will have some coco test plants running in the flower room in a future crop. I'm keenly interested in the High Brix stuff too, so I was watching your experiment with much interest.

Just do your thing and don't worry about others. As long as you're not hurting anyone else, be the only person you can be... you! :Namaste:

yeah wash ,after trim i get 2 big conainers very hot water/baking sodanwhite vinegar in one very cold in the other shake & stir in the first rinse in the cold, ive covered this before, recently,it makes for a much cleaner smoother smoke, curso ,doc, and many others are starting to do this it only makes sense,we wash every other vegggie, herb, we consume, ive checked the triches before & after and i cant tell any difference except they look brighter some how, must be the lack of dust and polutants:thumb:

Hey BID. Now that you've done the washing, would you have any tips or advice for applying this technique to a production environment, ie 3+ lbs (dry) at a time?

Actually if Curso, or anyone else washing, reads this and has thoughts, I'd love to hear them. I don't have a lot of $$ to invest in equipment to do it, but I do have several 5g buckets and could probably swing a few more if needed. Am I accurate thinking one 5g 'wash' bucket will only do a single 2-4oz plant?

I guess I will go back and look... I don't ever spray or mist my buds with anything. I think I would rather smoke bugs than dunk my beautiful buds like that :yikes:...

but now you have me curious :hmmm:

I've been curious since getting wind of this idea. I'm planning to wash my next crop. I was gonna do a single test plant, but have decided to try the opposite. I'm going to wash all but part of one plant, or maybe one branch from each strain to compare

well buck like curso said you wouldnt bite an apple that was covered in dirt right? for however many months they are collecting dust and whatever else, in my case theres residue from sprays, its a super dusty place where i live, the wash water looks nasty when im done, and my fears of damaging them are gone, done a half dozen plants now, all are improved by washing, and i noticed theres less danger of getting mold in the cure,i forgot a small jar of blue dream for 2 weeks and it was a bit to damp to jar & not burp often but when i opended it despite being wet it had not molded at all, every other time this has happened ive had mold, turned out even better than the big jar! enlightend growers have been doing this for decades, jorge cervantez,ed rosenthal have talked about it jorge even has a vid on u toobe

Can you link that vid? I have Jorge's book, and don't recall him talking about washing buds.

Hey Norcali :ciao:

I'd strongly urge against the portable. Several folks here tried, unsuccessfully, to sway me from buying one. I wish I had listened. Putting a window/wall unit in will be much more economical and provide better functionality. My portable, and all of them AFAICT, leaks some air, ie it pulls air out of the flowering room and blows it out the exhaust. This can be a problem if you're supplementing CO2.

Anyway, don't listen to me, but please DO listen to people that know what they are talking about in regards to AC (such as Ronnie). Just say no to portables. I can't think of many situations a portable would be the best option. :)

In a mobile grow unit, maybe :)
