well just the other day i jinxed myself by saying my cheapo ph pen as been so good to me for 2 yrs, now its acting wack, i got some odd readings so i tested it with my calibration fluid and its reading the 7.01 fluid at 8.6 and the 4.03 at 6.5 seems it needs adjustment .but my cali fluid is not new i had it stored in vitamin bottles i cleaned real well, what im wondering is ,is there a universal liquid product,common household item that has a known consistent ph i can triple check with before i bust out the tiny screwdriver and adjust it, my one and only hydro plant HBD is showing signs of ph problems so i need to fix it asap,, im gonna post this in a couple of you hydro wizard guys journals as well as mine, why i didnt think to get strips as a backup i dont know lol thanks in advance guys

Ah, this could send you mad! There's so many possible factors! One or both of your solutions could be off, or your probe could be broken, dirty or have dried out, or your batteries are low, there's not really an easy answer.
Tomato juice is meant to have a pH of 4, and Milk of Magnesia a pH of 10, which could give you a ball park as to whether your meter's in the right area or not, but really the only answer is to get some new fluid, calibrate, and if it keeps giving wacky readings then consider a new meter.
I'm also assuming it is a meter with 2 point calibration? If not then don't try and calibrate to two solutions, you'll send yourself mad chasing your tail as they're notoriously rubbish if not designed for a 2 point calibration - you'll get one spot on and the other will be off. They're generally only accurate to a limited range so calibrate to one or the other (and the one nearest where you want your pH to be, so for 5.8 I'd suggest using the 7.01 fluid), but don't expect to get both accurate if the meter's not designed for a 2 point calibration.

got some semi new shots for you guys, these are from the 25th however there have been some changes ,in veg, the big blue dream got a huge defol and topping, the gdp & skunk#11 are much bigger today vs these pics, all the red solo cup clones got topped theres something going on with the widow bomb clones, got yellowing mottled and slight twisting going on, i will figure it out but if you know what the prob is be sure to chime in,
heres the mmmf before and after her 21 day defol shes recovering very nicley and i noticed some good budswell too
and some random flower shots
it wont be as long before i put up the shots of the blue dream defol and the gdp's growing so so fast!
these pics are nearly a week old sorry bout that guys i be lagging its been snowing and cold and that makes me hurt nd move slow, takes me 3 hours to just be done drinking coffee n wakie up and get drssed for the day, hell theres been a few mornings i never bothered to get dressed i just sat nodding out bundled up watching movies on my pc,,oh check this out were going to make the 47inch tv my primary monitor! cant wait to see starcraft2 and crysis2 on that and looking at the forum will be interesting to say the least

Hey BID!!!! Sorry I haven't popped into your journal in a minute..but man the ladies are looking amazing!!! Those blue dreams will be stocky fat buds in no time!!! Mine seemed to grow slowly for the first 4 weeks of flower, and then seemed to just explode in bud growth, and they smell freaking amazing!!! Glad your grow is going well for ya!!! kudos and rep!!

ok so i told you there would not be a long wait for new pics, here you will see the huge defol i did on the blue dream, and of course the rapid growth of the gdp's and skunk#11 ,also i have been topping the clones in the red solos yet they just keep getting bigger lol
and then theres the mystery of the widow bomb both clones are showing strange yellowing and twisted growth the large one is the worst then there's the little one just starting to show the same symptoms, all plants are getting the same food and are in the same medium, today i did a huge defol and a little lst on the bigger one
i'll post pics up tomorrow, and did a little plain tap water flush, and last my homemade smartpot
soon to get a clone after i clean it up
if it works i'll have lots of free airpots

took a torch heated a spot then carefully pushed the back end of a drill bit to make a point then after i was done making nipples i cut the tips off thats it simple, but takes a little finesse and the right type of plastic container
