BeezLuiz & LiquidIntel Are At It Again: Outdoor Grow Season 3

Just remember, it's a heavy feeder.:meatballs:

I have a quick question: What is the procedure for Low and Slow drying in the frig? I thought I might have my son give it a try with a handful of buds. I know there is a thread by Sweet Sue from a few years ago, but that thread is very lengthy. I am hoping for a very brief "do this, then this, and then this" sort of procedure. :Namaste:

Here ya go, Beez
From @MrSauga 's journal: :thanks:
If I do a bud wash I have to let them hang dry for two to four hours before putting in the fridge. The tips of the cola need to be dry from water.
If I don't do a wash then I trim as close as possible leaving the sugars on. Then I place up to 28 grams of wet bud in the paper bag. Do not roll the end closed and try not to stack over the openings. You can layer the bags on top of each other by doing a criss cross pattern and rotating every couple of days.
The more bud you have in the fridge the longer it takes to dry. When I get under 68% RH I take it out of the fridge and store in turkey bags filled with air from the room. This air continues the drying process and the cure takes over after that. To test the RH you need to take some bud out and place it in a jar or turkey bag and measure the RH after an hour or so. If over 68% it goes back in the fridge.
Once I'm at or under 68% and the bud is in the turkey bag I keep burping daily checking the RH. Once it hits 62% I don't add any more air. I exhaust the air roll the bag closed and store in 5 gallon sealed containers.
The benefit of the turkey bag is for burping. I can put 5 ounces easily in a turkey bag and burp and toss the buds gently. I can't do this in jars without it taking a lot of time and spillage.

*I also gave the bags a good shake every day when I did it this way...

Thanks Carcass (and Sauga), very much appreciated! :Namaste:

Hi Beez!
Just getting caught up on some journals. A late congrats on the harvests, and amazing looking yields on them. Interesting how the caterpillars lose their color and are no longer concerned about hiding when the end is near. I hope all is well with you and the fam. Belated congrats on your son's wedding too btw.

I see you discussing when to harvest a CBD plant. I have a fastbuds 20:1 cbd plant with practically no THC in the mix and it looks very ready to harvest except I see zero amber. I see nearly 100% very opaque, cloudy trichomes. Does a plant with little to no THC ever turn amber? I think I need to take it down tomorrow, but I'll wait if I should be seeing amber.

My Dr. S is 100% CBD also. It has lots of amber, but unfortunately for me it also has lots of clear. It sounds like your girl is in ideal shape for harvest. Good luck with your harvest and welcome to the journal Rickster! :welcome:

Sorry I missed the weekend activities where I ask you if your trimming hand is in shape yet!

Some killer harvests at your house soon, and the KA5H looks like any other plant in late August . Going to be a Halloween treat to take that down!

GB is loaded, but sorry about the caterpillars on the DrS. They must need the relaxation that comes with the CBD. What date next summer should we start recommending the BT spray?

:)

I've gotten a temporary reprieve from trim jail :yahoo:. During a 10 day period, I trimmed 6 plants - some of which will probably yield close to a pound. I think I personally spent about 48 hrs of trimming during those 10 days.

I already shared some pics of LiquidIntel's first two plants (Super Critical Bud CBD and Alaskan Purple), so here's his last plant - a White Widow. It has some really nice top colas:

The plant I started and gave to a friend was ready for harvest. It was his very first attempt at growing so I guided him along the way and LiquidIntel and I went to his house to teach and help with the harvest. Dresden Green Diamond:
My son and I had our own socially distanced table in the back to work on. Everyone wore face covering - except while drinking beer and smoking. We all had our own smoking utensils and of course, the joint holders came in handy

He probably yielded more than 10 oz. Not bad for a first grow!

I finally got to start work on my plants. First up was Dr. S, which was devoured by caterpillars. I think I might have lost 4 or 5 oz of bud to them. Fortunately, there was plenty to share. I might still end up with 12 oz when dried. My wife, son, and daughter in law were of great help.
A shot inspired by @Amy Gardner :Namaste:

All four levels of the drying basket were full of Dr. S.

After 3 days of trimming Dr. S, miss Gorilla Breath was ready. Fortunately the caterpillars did not like her taste as much, so the damage was minimal.

She was a super sticky trim. Can't wait to give her a try.

Even the last little popcorn nug was nice and frosty.

My last remaining plant is Killer A5 Haze. I think I have maybe 3 more weeks before she is ready.

Now I can go try to catch up on everyone's journals. :surf:

Congrats on all the great harvests, Beez! (and Liquidintel) :welldone:
You definitely earned the break!
