BeezLuiz & LiquidIntel Are At It Again: Outdoor Grow Season 3

don't let it get to the usual THC amount of amber. Hence, "slightly early".

So that would depend on what one considers a usual amount of amber!

it seems the difference might be that some folks (many folks in fact, including you) like to usually let things go a little longer, for some amber on a THC plant ;)

Put it this way tho: if was looking at harvest on a CBD plant and there was a bit of amber coming in but still lots of clear trichomes rather than cloudy ones, I’d be letting it go a bit longer for more cloudy. “Early” or “late” can be different depending on strain, too (and ripening habit etc.).

thought your journal was one of the places.

I wondered.

I have most definitely written “not late” in the past, but never “early” ...

potato, potato :D

High Beez! Nice harvesting. :yummy: Beautiful pics as usual. Take it slow with your hand when you chop your big girls You know the deal: smoke a little, trim a little...repeat, etc, etc.:passitleft:Stay stoned and stay stoneder.

Excuse me. I wish the upcoming bride and groom all the best.

Thanks for some clarification, Amy. This being my first CBD plant, I'm still working my way up the "learning curve". :circle-of-love:

Excellent advice, Fred! Actually, as long as I use the Fiskars spring loaded scissors, my hand does fine. We'll see what happens during a "several hour" trim session. :thumb:

you have your trimming machine too, right? Sound like you have cause for getting an industrial size one!

up the "learning curve".

:D which reminds me - UV action from the sun can cause trichs to amber so outside we can see a little more of it than what’s usual for indoor grows.

Would that mean to let em go longer outdoors? I notice that, for me, indoor plants' trichomes change color faster.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say it ‘means’ anything in terms of what we should or shouldn’t do. It’s so circumstantial - as you say, you get more inside.

If I was to take it as a reason for anything, it would only be as a reason not to panic about amber showing up early on an outdoor plant. :)

Thanks Amy! I was just curious as to your thoughts, having noticed a suspected difference in the ripening between outdoor and indoor plants. :yummy:

And actually, its the degradation loss of the primary cannabinoid that I am seeking to avoid (or to harvest before too much of it) rather than the resulting ‘product’.

So for me it’s not so much about not wanting the CBN, but wanting the highest concentration/saturation of THC (or CBD).

Great discussion on ripeness. Of course now I'm more confused as ever, but fortunately I have my lucky coin. Heads = harvest, Tails = wait. :laughtwo:

I hope everyone is having a good start to their weekend. :passitleft:
Earlier in the week, I took these update pics. Most of the plants are getting really close now. As a matter of fact, I'm heading out to Liquidintel's house this morning to start trimming his Alaskan Purple, although he says all three of his plants might be ready. I'll get a closer look when I get there.

Dr. S CBD
This one is getting close, but as per the above discussion regarding ripeness, I'll take a closer look in the next day or two. I've really enjoyed growing this one. The caterpillars have really enjoyed eating this one. I've probably lost about 3 oz of bud to the cats, but I still have plenty left.

Gorilla Breath
This one might actually be the first to be ready for harvest even though it's the youngest of the three. Buds are nice and frosty, and I guess that's to be expected with one of the parents being Gorilla Glue.

I also took some night flash shots...

Killer A5 Haze
This one has finally stopped stretching (79 inches tall) and is now focusing on bud development. Flowering for 10 weeks now, but still has probably another 4 weeks to go. Maybe I'll be harvesting on Halloween.

And maybe the last shot of all three together.

They're all beautiful, but that KA5H is just amazing !
What a monster!
At least she stopped stretching before she got up into the power lines... ;)

The caterpillars must know good bud when they see it :D. Sorry to hear about the loss to them but she (Dr. S) sure is a beaut!
I'm still hoping to yield 10+ oz from her.
Wooo hoo! You got some beauties there Beez! :yummy:
Thanks Fred! :passitleft:

I'm pretty proud of that Killer Haze. I'm hoping to beat my previous record yield of 878 grams (31.4 oz) with her.
I don’t envy the work bringing them in but I’d sure like to have grown them! :D
Yesterday we had a 7 hour warm-up session trimming two of LiquidIntel's plants. It can be a lot of work, but quite rewarding. :)

Speaking of harvesting, here's some pics of yesterday's activity. We chopped Alaskan Purple and Super Critical Bud. My son, daughter-in-law and I spent the day trimming away. I'm going back again this morning to harvest his White Widow.

Super Critical Bud CBD was a weird shaped plant - kinda lanky and colas were pretty scrawny. Even though, looks like we might yield 4 or 5 oz from it. My son and I differ in opinion on how tight to trim the buds in the trimming bowl. I think he over does it a bit as you can see all the shake in the bottom of the bowl. It will be used for topicals and edibles.

Alaskan Purple was a pretty plant with very nice top colas. Again, I think we might yield in the neighborhood of 5 oz.

Congrats on the Harvest/ trim session. I grew a SCB CBD last round in my tent. Its got some power to it. Very relaxing. Or at least the Pheno I got is like that. I made some oil up from it and if I take my normal 4 caps in the evening with in two hours after taking them I am Out. Yours looks different then mine. Its back in my first journal if you want to see it. Looking forward to your smoke report and see if it is different

I have some Alaskan Purple seeds I want to try out some time so I am looking forward to your smoke report on that one as well

Thanks PC! I remember your Super Critical, but will go back to refresh my memory on what yours looked like. I'm glad it works as advertised. I'm looking forward to trying it out.
