Beauty vs. Brawn - A Multi Strain Multi Sponsor Grow Off For Bragging Rights

Thank you LCF, your babies are looking gorgeous too!

I took inspiration for the spreadsheet from @HashGirl. She is a master of spreadsheets. I did mine in Excel.

I do mine in Excel as well. @Lady Cannafan - if you want my template, send me a PM and I'll send it to you.

Hey HG! So good to see you. Thank you for responding to the notification :) I hope you are well. What's going on in your garden these days?

The two most recent seedlings did not have much growth since planting to the solo cups. Last night I lifted the cups and realized they were far too heavy and the outer cup had run off water just sitting in there, meaning I had overwatered that soil.
I folded up several layers of paper toweling and put the cups on top of that to wick some of that water out and it's working perfectly. I should see that much drier today and some growth activity.

I was in a hurry when I prepared those last two kids and wasn't paying enough attention.
We learn lessons every day. :)

I know I need to get a better grasp on the seedling stage. Even weighing the cups, I manage to either over or underwater every time.
I’d like to drop seeds in for a soak tonight and get em in cups Sunday but, I need to look closely at the timeline. I have to have the banana girls harvested by the time these dirty birds need the pot. I really don’t have time to build two more of my sip pots.

Yeah, I know all too well on short of time. Hopefully it eases up for you soon.
My "wicking" with the paper towels has worked. The two youngest have shot up about 3/4 inch since last night. :slide:

Update

Heyo!

It's been a crazy week! But it looks like we've brought some contenders into the ring!

As luck would have it our ladies sprouted simultaneously. Standing proud. That first impression played a pivotal role in naming these ladies. When I think of Black Orchid. It reminds me of death, mourning, evil magic, and darkness, but it also symbolizes elegance, wealth, restraint, and power. So it would only be fitting to dust off this tune.

Must press play - Theatrics

So for the first time.

Hi Carmen.

Still having vision problems so I only have one grow journal here, my Purple Ghost Candy lady.

I'm also growing the following, hempy-style:
  • 2 CB Dutch Treat
  • 1 Carnival
  • 1 Jack Herer
  • 1 Moby Dick
  • 1 Raspberry Cough
Thanks for asking.

DAY 7 MILKY WAY.

Alright we are a week in and looks like everyone has at least one up and at em 👍good job everyone👍

Now onto little milky way by @Royal Queen Seeds . All is great on this end, she's growing steady and almost has her first full set. Every two days she is about double her size, if this keeps up she's going to be a little monster of a plant.
IMG_20240607_173451955_HDR.jpg

I also checked root growth and they were full out the sides and just starting to touch the bottom of the mini cup ( I forgot to get a picture, but it's not something I normally photograph 🤷‍♂️)......so I decided to uppot now instead of waiting. It should be fine.... I haven't had any real stunting or issues when I've done it early in the past.

She has been checked over for issues, pests, other.... And she seems to be tip top and I have nothing to worry about 😁👍. I do have mosquito bits, sticky traps, and the sand in preparation of fungus gnats..... hopefully we can keep em at bay. After first feeding of @GeoFlora Nutrients Veg in a week or so, I'll be covering the top with an inch of sand. Again a new process for me but it seems to be doing a fantastic job of deterring soil dwelling insects from messing with my outside plants....so I'm going to roll it over to indoor.

The temperature has fluctuated a little due to outside conditions. We've had a string of strong but short passing storms that have cooled things off then raise humidity followed by hot cloudless sun.......and repeat 😂 if i don't like the weather I just wait five minutes. Any how the temps have varied between 70-80f / 21.1-26.6c, with the humidity remaining fairly stable between 55-60%.

The light @ViparSpectra P1000 has been lowered a couple inches and the intensity increased from %30 to %50 due to the stretch I was getting. Now I just have to watch her to make sure she doesn't have any ill effect from the adjustment.

That about wraps it up on this end. Can't wait to see everyone's updates 🤘😁🤘

Are you following me?
She's a cutie, hope she acclimates to the light for you without any probs.
I expected to have a gnat problem on the indoor grow here, but I saw only one a few weeks ago and that was it. Nothing on the sticky trap at all, except a couple of my hairs when I got too close to the damned thing. :laughtwo:

Okay, you've planted her off center fairly near the edge. What is your plan with her? What kind of training, etc.?

Curious George whispered that question in my ear. He bugs me, he has seriously bad breath. :laughtwo:

Hahaha nope she is fairly dead center  had me run upstairs just now to see if it was off center 😂
IMG_20240607_192232187_HDR.jpg

But my goal is to top her twice once at 3rd node and once again at second node on the split. Then spread her as far and wide as I can get her.....this is the plan at least 😆 it's an auto so it could decide to flower tomorrow.

What's the name of the last strain you smoked.... I want to have imaginary conversations with a character from a child hood memory too?!? the closest I get to an imaginary friend is myself when I'm driving and trying to explain to.....myself.... Why other drivers suck 😂

That camera angle fooled the hell out of me. LOL Sorry to make you run to check. :laughtwo:

I vaped some Donkey Butter yesterday. The last of it, but I think I still have a few seeds left from a friend. This is a nice strain, I needed a happy relaxed body hugging high and that's what I got. It smells amazing too.

I've been trying to teach the cats to talk to me more, but they only voice themselves when the food dish is empty or they are arguing with each other. Ever seen a cat boxing match? It's the funniest show on earth.

Lol it's all good....my kid was just asking "what's wrong?"....cuz after I read the comment I was like wait ....wtf....and booked it up the stairs 😆....I just look a little nuts.....all good again 👍😅.

Have you seen the preprogrammed buttons for animals to hit to interact with us? It's friggin hilarious 😆 😆 they program bad words and phrases into them..... So some of the combos created by the animals are just to funny 🤣
