Beauty vs. Brawn - A Multi Strain Multi Sponsor Grow Off For Bragging Rights

Update:

**Snap** **Crackle** **Pop**

All 4 seeds cracked open in the water and are in between damp layers of paper towel in a warm cabinet until the tap roots peek out a little more. Then they will go into rock wool cubes.

I think this is my favorite part of the grows, watching these kids come to life. 💞

Update day 0
Even without getting a seed wet, Dirty Bird Genetics and @North Atlantic Seed Co have gone straight into my favorites list.
NASC is a woman owned seed bank and Dirty Bird Genetics is their line.
That’s important because, if you want to beat the girlz, ya gotta be the girlz!
(Or something like that)
DBG has hands down, the best packaging I’ve seen. It shows how much pride they put it their product, and makes me look forward to seeing these plants grow!

The Papa OG Update

Welcome all to our wonderful little sideshow!
It's June 1st, time to get this party started! 🎉

Looks like our contenders have all weighed in. The girls have taken an early lead. Don't worry we've got a few tricks in our gardens. Get ready for lots a Laughs, a few Tears, and maybe we will learn something from our mistakes! Let's get it going!

Seeds were picked at random, shot a few photos.

Used the good ol paper towel, to lay them to rest, squirt squirt 💦 with room temp bottled spring water.

Slapped them in a recycled ziplock bag, blew some air inside. Wrapped them up with a bandana, to block out unnecessary light.

Then hung them in top corner of my flowering tent. It Averages the perfect temps for germination.

Well, one of the seeds was being a bit stingy with sticking out that tap root. I had a long talk with her and told her the importance of sharing and how it will benefit her in the end. :battingeyelashes:
She must have took it to heart, I can see the little white tap now.

So, all of them will be headed into the rock wool cubes in the morning. I don't wait for the tap root to get long, once it's out 1/8 inch or so, they go into the cubes.

UPDATE: Seeds are in the rockwool cubes this morning

The rockwool cubes are soaked in distilled water first and then squeezed so that they are just damp. I use an ice cube tray for the cubes.

First I make the hole in the damp rockwool cube about a half inch deep. My experience is that 1/4 inch depth, which is recommended often, is too shallow and the sprout more often than not comes up with the helmet.

I then close the rockwool around the seed carefully with the blunt tweezers, making sure it doesn't have a large gap around it. Then I take a little of the rockwool and fill the top where the hole is tapping it down carefully so no light is getting into the hole. Making sure the rockwool is tight in there makes friction for the seedling to be able to rub the seed off while it is on the way to break ground. In my opinion...

All 4 are now in the rockwool cubes and I expect to see them emerge in 24 to 36 hours. The tray is on a temperature controlled heat mat with a towel over the mat in a cabinet.

Looking good so far over there 😊

I won’t be starting till next weekend most likely.
My biggest concern is the timeframe. I have banana girls well into flower and the panty droppers one week into veg. And I only have 4 sip buckets so, this has to math right.
Also, I have realized a dire need to up my seedling game. The last few I have started looked horrible until I got em in the final pot for veg. That said, the seedling tent is open and ready.
My work schedule has gone crazy and I don’t have the time to babysit them like I normally do but, I should be rolling by the weekend.

Not a problem. You shouldn't be far behind, and each persons' grows are going to take different flowering times etc. Lot of variants. You may wind up ahead of another grower at some point. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Day 3 .

So far so good with little milky way by @Royal Queen Seeds 👍😁. She got a little light bleaching on the tips so I backed off the light yesterday....she seems to be happier with the light now.

UPDATE: Team Girlz
Logo darker text.jpg

Happy Birthday to the first of the little ones. We have two @Barney's Farm seeds up and running this morning. First Mimosa Evo #2 and then Gorilla Zkittlez #1. They have no helmets and looking great.
I'll be naming the kids once I get them under a light.
