BCNL Producer & DIY Cabs 3 Strains

Supercrop. Just squeeze til you hear/feel the crunch and bend. Much easier than weights and strings. You can do this all the way up to week 3 of flower. Best way to keep an even canopy IMHO.

Thanks Hash... Sounds easy and tidy. Going to read on it now.

Thank you to Mr. Krip and Hashassassin for your input on taming the Euforias!

I like the idea of supercropping (let's make that "SC" from here on) as it's less work with similar results to techniques that require additional time and material(s).

I'll start with the two mains on the left plant to see if I pinch correctly.

Well that was easy.

We'll see how that sits for a day or two and then hit the right plant as needed.

Clones are doing fine. I'm going to take a couple or so and root them in soil for additional insurance moms. If the strain ends up performing well and I like it, it'll be a safe preservation step well taken.

Can't say enough about Stinkbud's aero cloner. Other than my freak pump failure this thing seems to be infallible. Considering the cost and it's capabilities... it's a no-brainer, and a hell of a lot less expensive than a store bought unit. That man needs to be commended.

The Producer looks good today also. Plants are growing and filling in very nicely. They are receiving Sensi Bloom A&B, Carboload, Voodoo Juice, Hygrozyme and Cal-Mag Plus. pH 5.5-5.8. Minor pH down adjustments daily.

Thanks much for that Krip... that was a great show minus the feud. You side with Helm or Robertson? Cameras and money sure can bring out the worst in folks.

The show we're going to is at his place. He performs with great guests in his "barn" in Woodstock. Great harmony's with his daughter Amy too! Very homey and down to earth. Just bring a dish to share on the community table and enjoy the show. I believe his voice actually improved after throat cancer. Fortunate man he is... many friends and an abundance of talent.

I'm too early into flower so I can't comment on lesser pH fluctuations yet, but I'd certainly welcome that. The smaller working window shouldn't affect me too badly. The less fiddling around I have to do with them the better. Live and let live sort here... That is, right up to the day I kill these things and burn them. ;)

Actually, I was a semi-professional musician and songwriter for many years and have to say that Robbie Robertson was 100% correct in the feud based on the way things USED to work, which wasn't necessarily fair. The feud stemmed from disputes over royalties on the song "The Weight" and while Helm provided awesome drums, it was agreed that Robertson would be the "Songwriter". So, when the song took off and other artists started releasing their own versions of the song, the song was still "The Weight" written by Robertson, BUT it did NOT have Helm's drums, so TECHNICALLY he really wasn't entitled to royalties. Since then, bands will often list multiple songwriters on a song to make sure this doesn't happen, but back in early rock & roll, this is EXACTLY how it worked. It's too bad they couldn't come to some agreement beacuse the chemistry of The Band on stage was unforgettable.

The venue for the Helm show sounds GREAT and I didn't even realize he had a daughter, let alone one he performed with (even informally)! Now I know why you're so interested in PeaceMan's recipes - need a good dish to bring to the show! :grinjoint:

@ Peaceman - I read thru your entire thread and it's GREAT! I love to cook and it gave me some great ideas to expand my edibles repetoir from just brownies into some much more interesting dishes. :thankyou: BTW...you should open a stoner restaurant and call it, "Pot Luck"!

We are now sworn enemies Mr. Krip. :laughtwo:

I went the other way as the signings were not done in the presence of all concerned parties or their representatives. In fact those poor saps didn't even find out for years... which isn't to say they would have known even if they were told. They both had their screwups... who hasn't. But forsaking integrity, friendship and blindsiding your buds based on greed are other matters altogether. I think he's a myopic twit who paid a high price to rub shoulders with Hollywood. Scorsese fever. [sermon end] Sorry for waxing personal.

Regrettably I never saw them live.

Where we once again join paths is most appropriately on peace man. That guy is a wizard! I'm also pretty limited in what I've prepared with MJ and am very eager after seeing his stuff. I have some distant friends with whom I meet too infrequently that prepare butter, oils and baked goods... but I want to party with Emeril LeGrassy!!!

I'll be making heavily infused olive oil and butter. Then I can go all culinary n'shit.
I like your restaurant idea. If you're in a permissive corner of the world that would fly big time!

Like I said, I'm not saying it was either fair or the right way to treat a friend, or a business partner, but my understanding is that it was a very common practice at the time. In a time not too far before that, musicians basically made no money off the album sales and the record companies kept it all. I don't think that was fair either, but it was common practice at the time, which is why it's changed. I was not aware that there were disputes over the gaining of the signatures involved, which may change things, and I'm sure the truth lies somewhere in the middle of what's been reported/claimed by both parties. [END REBUTTAL] :)

Enough of that...I just caught your updated pics today and they're looking great! :goodjob:

I've had great results with the supercropping, too, but now I'm just going with LST since I'm almost three weeks into flower. However, while tying one of the LST points today, I did accidently supercrop one of the branches! :grinjoint:

It's pretty amazing how quick they grow back towards the light.

I can definately see the difference in the girls in the Producer. They're starting to fill out nice, and it looks like some of the stragglers are putting on some girth, too. Nice work! :high-five:

I think your LST is exemplary. You're maximizing every square inch of the cab with it.

Yeah, the stragglers are catching up. Looked at the roots before lights out and only two are shy of the rez now, and showing a tad of progress.

You're not kidding about the quick response back toward light. They seem to have found it.

When starting this whole thing I opted not to pic-journal the diy cab as I was too busy with other pursuits at the time. I wanted to share the material I used for lining that cab though... perhaps it could be useful to someone.

The cab was designed to be used in a cooler environment and insulation had to be considered. What I ended up doing was laminating two sheets of mylar skinned bubble insulation back to back using a wide roller with even pressure and 3M Super 77 Multipurpose Spray Adhesive. That was then laminated with panda, then glued in place as panels. The cab floor has a 3/16" Lauan plywood cap beneath high-density non-absorbant 1/8" foam laminated with panda. Both have excellent sound containment and insulating properties for this purpose. The piece shown is a cutout from a door handle.

My goodness, you've been busy as a beaver on 4th street. lol

Great going SC and all, It's pretty easy to understand Peace man after a few tokes... lol

Sisco! You're a cutup man! lol

Yeah, hopefully that SC'll work good up there. If it does, the other one gets done.

I read peace man both ways to friday and I still can't quite get which he was referring to. But then again on my best days I'm twice as good as the second worst.

The plants are growing nicely with no problems. pH spiked to 6.8 today. Added water w/Cal-Mag+/Hygrozyme and pH'ed the rez to 5.4. They are getting thirstier. A 6" fan will be added soon to increase circulation.

This is the tallest Euforia. In my brief experience I'd say it has more sativa to it than the WW's

DSC_00992.JPG

The runt's roots are still reluctant. Who knows... maybe slow and steady will win the race.

DSC_00983.JPG

The SC'd Euforia is looking fine and both have many nice young flowers.

To preserve lineage I potted 5 clones today. As the DIY cab seems to be working well with for the Euforias, 2 clones will be earmarked for flowering in there. No reason not to keep another 2 plants in flower perpetually. 2 of the 3 others will be mothers... if they all do well that is.

The method I'm using for transplanting from aero to soil is to gently seat and bury the rooted clones and water them in heavily. Then let them dry fairly well and follow up with normal watering.

Cheers!

Coming along great WnF :wellldone:

I definately concur on the perpetual flowering in the cab! Also interested to hear how the transplanting works out. My biggest concern (perhaps needless!) would be the plant's ability to adjust to the higher PH used for soil grows. Although, I suspect as long as the medium is in the correct range, the plant can get the nutrients it needs and the higher PH won't be an issue.

:goodluck:

Thanks Mr. Krip! Yeah for the extra 96watts it would be silly not to. The transplanting was done based on posts I've read here & there. That watering sequence I mentioned is apparently the trick. Seems simple enough. They haven't wilted yet.
As for pH, I used tap for cloning and it's very few points over the 6.3 required for soil so that should be OK. It would be nice to have the surety of another one of those ww phenos. It clones and grows well. If it's good product I'll keep it going.;)

Nothing major today... just nice growth. They're using about a 1.5gal of water per day now. pH rises consistently to about 6.5 daily. Makes me think of tapping into the Tri-Meter (or suitable pH monitor) and using the pH value to adjust a DIY dosimeter (something like an old I.V. pump) to administer the correct adjustments unattended. That and a conduit from the 20gal R/O holding tank to the reservoir to handle water top-offs would be nice.
It would certainly take any concern out of splitting town for a few days. Hmmm.

DSC_0180-Cropped.JPG

Placed the included carbon filter on the grow chamber exhaust and the scent is significantly reduced. Internal cab temps rose only 1-2 degrees. Only other scent is from the diy cabs. The Euforia, although lovely, are not in the same league scent-wise as the WW's.

Clones are doing fine.

DSC_01743.JPG

SC'ed several remaining tall tops. I'm going to surface-mount 2-24" T5 fixtures below the Euforias. BCNL states an additional 20-30% increase in yield in the Producer using the lower bulb units. I've seen rapid, heavy growth in the Producer thus far so following that model shouldn't be a mistake. And... it just makes sense.

DSC_01634.JPG

The clones are history now (:rip:), all rooted and did well. I'm comfortable with the fact that cloning in the aero is reliable and as a result I will be going straight to flower in the Producer whenever possible.

The plants in the producer are good and strong and they smell absolutely wonderful. When opening the box I am greeted by it intensely... So I open it more often. You know when you smell something that takes you back to a really great experience in place and time? This is a new one of those.

I find this interesting. It's somewhat difficult to see in the pics taken, but the stalk is thin, ribbon-like. About 2-3x wider than thick. The top of this plant is exceptionally dense. I'll have to get some snips off this in the event it turns out to be something special.

Progress in the Producer has been solid. Started week 2 of Flower today. AN Big Bud was added with this res change. All plants are looking healthy. The 4 Euforia in the middle are stretching and at the rate they're going will probably need taming at some point. If it's a race for light, the Euforia should win handily.

That "ribbon-stemmed" plant (Euforia) doesn't fail to fascinate me. I spoke to a friend about it and he's begging for clones. It's top is dense and wide. Been looking around and haven't been able to find much on it so I don't know whether it's a genetic or environmental variation yet. Either way... it's cool to watch.

Didn't take pics of the two Euforias flowering in the DIY cab today, but they are doing nicely and seem to be getting new flowers every time I check on them. Using the Sensi A&B Bloom and Carboload suits them well. The clones are fine also.

Looking great, WnF and that producer is filling up nicely considering it's only been a week of 12/12! :goodjob:

I'm not sure I understand either the ribbon stem or your fascination with it, though. Could it be you've been taking early samples? RoorRip
:)

Keep up the good work!

Hey Weed, just a quick drive by to say Hey and check out your plants!! Looking very sweet if I might say. Lots of green going on! What is up with that one stem being thin and thick!! hmmmm... interesting... :Namaste:

Thanks very kindly Mr. Krip! I'm very pleased with it so far.

The fascination is simple... it's that atypical. A Sequoia among Maples.

I haven't sampled since I was 16 and I'm not prepared to take a step backwards! ;)

:Namaste: Hey Tmac... that explains the breeze! Yeah, things are going well and I'm real happy about it!

That plant has got me befuddled too. I feel fortunate to get a once-in-a-lifetimer right out of the gate.

BE well.

Everything looks 100% fan-flippin-tastic! Seems like just the other day that the PM was getting you down, and BAM all of the sudden buds are a poppin'. Very nice! :)

Well, you just made my flu go away with all your kindness!!!

I've been lucky and things have shaped up nicely.

Thanks very much xlr8!
