Barney's Mimosa EVO x Orange Punch

Thanks, this is great advice which I will take. I am spoiled by the Grandaddy Purple and Bruce Banner we grew, they were both veg machines, very hearty the entire grow, so my expectations are high. You've never PH'd your water before? I was taught that was a "must do" to maximize plant potential, but your plants look awesome so there must be something to it. Not having to PH balance everything would save me about 50 man hours a plant :)
Good morning :)

Look full disclosure I’m no grow expert.

I can however grow house plants. I’ve literally been nipping cuttings and striking plants my whole life. It has held me in good stead for growing.

I can grow a house plant, and well. I understand watering. I’ve been doing it forever. Transferring this knowledge to MJ has been helpful.

I have never ever pH’ed water. I am also new to a rapid growth rationale. The difference between a house plant and MJ, is we are trying to speed up the growth process, that’s where lights and nutes come in. Sadly I’m not well skilled in either. I use a slow release nute and I’m just learning about calmag. All that said, I’d just watch and wait for a few days. Her frame is strong and proud. The other stuff can be improved on. Just give her a chance to find her inner grow goddess.

If you have trouble after that, I’ll call in some help. I know people who know. Lol

Hey Everyone, hope you all are well. Its day 38 of life, day 34 above ground. I've left her alone to veg the past few days and she's snapped out of her funk with a vengeance. Between getting the lights right and a couple of full feeds, she looks really strong, her color is back, she's pushing nodes fast, and look at the size of these fan leaves already, good grief! See if you can spot her 4 mains in the picts, I'll likely top her this coming week, now that she is healthy, to get the 8 mains up and running and then its full veg until the flip.

Good job for not giving up. You honour your plants by giving them your best, they will return the favour!

I’m big smiling for you!
ahhh, that is really cute, thanks Trala. I'm just following the path you have laid for me so thank you for your help.

Omg I did nothing! Lol!

This is all you.

Good work too. I think she looks really pretty :)

Day 45 of Life/Day 41 Above Ground

Hey Everyone,

We are done with the topping process (Pest Control is bummed, he loves to eat the tops) and all 8 mains are up and running. Its hard to see them from the side but they are easily viewed from above (circled in pict below). She just needs time to veg now and we will start to train the mains into their final positions in the coming weeks. I’m a little biased, but beyond some minor bunching of these ginormous fan leaves as she grows into her shape, I think she looks adorable……strong and powerful. She’s praying “up” pretty hard in these photos with a tiny leaf curl, a result of a slightly over-zealous feed this morning and a light intensity issue that I can’t quite seem to get right (see below).

The droopiness I’ve mentioned before re-appeared over the weekend. I “think” she grew into the zone of light intensity that is just too much for the new shoots. The lower leaves/stems looked healthy, but the growth tips closest to the lights had week/flimsy leaves and stems. I wound up reducing the intensity of the 1000W light (to ~60%, from 75%, at 18” distance) and that seemed to help, but now she’s reaching a little. I “think” (there I go again) that we want to get the lights closer to 100% intensity than where they are now, certainly by the flip to flower, so we are going to try and sloooowwwwlllyyyy work our way back up to a higher light intensity with a keen eye on how she responds to the changes.

You won’t be far behind my Mimosa :)
Thanks Tra......I am thinking 2-3 weeks at most. I caught up on your grow journal yesterday and Bic really does look so much better. You have those same abnormally giant fan leaves. Whatever you are doing, keep doing it!

Omg it took some fucking work!

She has more bend in her than any plant I’ve ever grown.

I’m not sure what happened, I lost my grow style, the style of plant I like to grow. Going forward I plan to remedy this. I’m all about a CarCanopy.

What's a "car canopy"? I've never "not" mainlined my plant so have never had canopy issues. That's one of the primary bennies of the mainline process, it makes the canopy a cinch....she has 8 colas and the mainline makes them grow almost identical in height. All I need to do is train them to spread out, keep the middle open, and if something gets a little tall, just use the cage to train it down.

This is a CarCanopy.

It’s basically a canopy a member called Carcass is known for. I just rebranded it as a CarCanopy.

My goodness, amazing plant. I will have a look at this, thanks. I lived in Arizona for a while and the desert has a higher humidity than his tent (29%rh, wow).

Day 52 of Life/Day 48 Above Ground...Strip Strap and Strut

Happy Holidays everyone.....we are just vegging along and all seems to be well. The droopys have gone away, I've got the light back to 75% intensity at 18" with no ill effects, she looks wonderful, and for the first time today is giving off a beautiful, musky-orange kind of smell. I think we are maybe 2 weeks away from the flip to flower.....She's a fickle gal, strong yet quick to stress when the environment is "off", especially light, but also RH. She doesn't seem overly sensitive to nutrients however. I've pushed her pretty hard (EC 2.6 today/full feed) and she has taken everything in stride with just the slightest curling of the leaf tips...perfect.

I moved her to her final home yesterday, a 5G fab pot (do you think she is buried too high?) and installed a new Vivosun cage to help train the colas. Its nice but way to big for a 5G pot. I think I prefer the simple peony ring honestly. Finally, I stripped her of her lowest leaves, strapped her to the cage, and she is ready to strut her stuff.

She looks really good!

You’ve done good bruv ;)

She has shape. You just gotta bring her home now
Thanks Trala, yes its getting exciting. I've got some time set aside tonight to catch up on your journal/Bic and see what I have to look forward too.

Day 57 of Life, Day 53 Above Ground, Day 43 of Veg

Hey Everyone……With all of the screwing around with light intensity she’s gotten taller than I would like at this point (that was fast!). I ran some numbers (meaning measured some stuff) and she may outgrow her space when she gets flipped (LKABudman, I re-read your journal and it sounded like she really, really stretched on you, it’s making me nervous 😊). Its time to ger her flipped to 12x12.

Here is the slightly condensed, pre-flower flip routine I generally follow and initiated this morning with a big feed. Everyone has their own way of doing this. I’d love to hear what you think/if you approach this differently. Pictures coming later this evening after a stealth Lollipop mission before lights out.

Merry Christmas/Happy New Year.
