Had a whole hive of these bastards chase me last year. As I ran looking backwards, I could see the swarm following. Never ran that fast in my life, looked like one of those videos where thousands of birds fly in patterns, or maybe buckshot heading toward you lol One got me on the back of the leg and one on the back of the neck. These insect ninja tanks could be used as military weapons, scary as hell.
I saw 2 Asian hornets in Devon, UK last year. WTF. I thought about trying to catch one with my lunch box but quite quickly changed my mind. 10 stings is considered a medical emergency and apparently a sting feels like a hot nail being driven into your skin. I like good old fashioned bees lol

Oh lol
The guy got stung in the side of his head.
Ouch! all joking aside. Those things are beautiful but seriously dangerous. There are a few in a zoo near where I live and they are allowed to leave their enclosure lol. They have a little wooden chimney connected to a glass tank in which you can see them nesting. The chimney goes out of the side of the building so they can leave and return as they please

I made a viewable hive in the corner of one room back when I was keeping bees,
it was fascinating to watch. They were a gentle stain of bee carniolan if I remember correctly, quite docile and not prone to sting
Keeping bee's is a fantasy of mine. For most people it's triple anal but I'm simple and love nature

Seems bees were more docile 50 years ago.
I'm not scared of European bees. If there is one in my house then I will allow it to walk onto my hand so I can remove it before any of the rest of my cowardly family notice it. I don't have a problem with yellow jacket's either and will happily let them walk on me. The trick with them is that they hate rapid movement. They just want to drink your sweat lol

That’s not a wasp or a bee. It’s a hover fly :)

They have no sting and are a pollinator and some larvae are beneficial predators in the garden

I had considered that, but one had bit a friend of mine in their ear and gave them a problem for a few days. I had been thinking maybe a robber fly, maybe even yellow fly, but I'm not real sure. They were thick though. I mean everywhere. Guess it was just a bad year for them, but it was crazy.

maybe we have different ones here if you let them land on you there flying away with a little piece of meat and if you move they'll sting you I no ive had both things happen there nasty little devils.
