These little buggers. If they’re a member of the wasp family, that’s interesting. Either way, quite the pesky, annoying little shits.

Oh aye, those wee things. I've always called them hornets, but I'm not too sure what they are exactly. Annoying, that's all I know for certain haha. The little arseholes get big, too

And pack a bite/sting too. :(

Thankfully I've never been stung by one. They just fly in my face and give me a fright! The only time I've been stung I was a baby so I don't remember it, and that was a bumble bee

bald face hornet!

Had a whole hive of these bastards chase me last year. As I ran looking backwards, I could see the swarm following. Never ran that fast in my life, looked like one of those videos where thousands of birds fly in patterns, or maybe buckshot heading toward you lol One got me on the back of the leg and one on the back of the neck. These insect ninja tanks could be used as military weapons, scary as hell.

That’s not a wasp or a bee. It’s a hover fly :)

They have no sting and are a pollinator and some larvae are beneficial predators in the garden

Bald Face get aggressive near their nest.
Very aggressive. The males are not allowed in the nest unless they want food then they get kicked out. They live in the trees overlooking the hive and will attack from behind you if you get too close.

The males are the soldiers... they may even be a-sexual...

My last run it with them I was trimming the hedge with a trimmer and all of a sudden I'm looking down the hole of a hive about a foot away from me. Turned off the trimmer but the soldiers were already incoming. They so big you can hear them coming and they fly at you with their butt and stinger facing forward. They hurt draw blood when they sting.

Forgive my stupidity but I've definitely been told that before and since forgotten!!

Thank you very much, Amy. No longer shall I swat them away. Although, I never really kill bees or wasps. Wasps sometimes, but never ever bees. These little guys now have more respect from me and if I find one hovering around my house I shall gently encourage it out to continue its good work outside!

Trust me, I was lol

I don't blame you. I'm not afraid of anything, really, but a yellow jacket wasp will have me prancing round like Billy Elliott
