BakedARea's Cultivated Blessings: A Myriad Of Genetics & Shenanigans

Hey folks! Happy Tuesday and Flip Day +9

Unfortunately, it appears that my last topdress of worm castings (bag was outside), has resulted in another round of fungus gnats. Yippeee...a while back @DonkeyDick mentioned some possible root problems. At that time, I had already battled them and none were seen for many weeks. Now they are back. There aren't too many but I saw a few and that's enough for me to get a response from the deep parts of my brain that mostly don't work. I topdressed with mosquito bits and water them in.

I also did some mild bending/shaping of the C99 and RS canopy. Just pushing some of the leaders down a little to make room for the others.

RS

Time to get out in the garden and finish up my irrigation overhaul. All the clones got a preventative spray of peppermint oil (½ tsp/gal) and Dr. Bronner's castile soap (2 Tbsp/gal). I actually sprayed the entire property in less than 30 minutes with my other new battery powered sprayer! It was magical. 4 gallons total. Saved a lot of time but more importantly, the nagging pain of bending down and pumping a sprayer. If you have limited mobility or deal with any type of degenerative or inflammation disorder, you should consider a battery sprayer.

Will do. I was tempted to get more of the BG genetics. Many of their varieties are based off C99. If we meet up later this year, I can hand off some goodies for the fam to try.
Probably around the third week of May I'm guessing. :thumb:
I topdressed with mosquito bits and water them in.
From my bit-expert Carcass, they need to be dissolved in water for 24 hours first to let the bacteria populate the water. He actually does it this way:
I just throw 1/4 of a dunk in the 5 gallon bucket every 3 weeks or so to keep the gnats away...
If I have an active gnat infestation, I'll use half a dunk in the bucket for a little more killing power, then
I go back to 1/4 of a dunk to keep the growspace gnat-free...
A quarter of a dunk is equal to 1 tbsp. of the bits, if you decide to do it this way.

The reason I do it this way is that it takes 24 hours for the bacteria from the dunks to populate the water, and I don't want to have to fill a gallon jug 24 hours in advance of when I water the plant, so I just treat 5 gallons at a time, and the water is always ready to use..

I also did some mild bending/shaping of the C99 and RS canopy. Just pushing some of the leaders down a little to make room for the others.
Well done!

Oof.. too early for anything C99 from this tent.

I agree with you. I have typically done it that way as well. I tried this way a while back, and it worked decently. I didn't make the time to soak them, so I just threw them on. Next round of drench, I should just make the time to soak them. It is believed to be the most effective method. My dressing of the bits will work, but not nearly as well.

Happy HUMP day to all! Back to work today and getting prepped for another long stretch of no days off. It has been a nice stretch of days off though. Got some task items checked off! Nowhere near the end of my list but stuff got checked off! I need to accept that as a win. Typically, I would not. Leading to excessive anxiety/stress about underachieving. It's a shitty cycle. Trying to learn to stop that.

Anyway...today is flip day +10 for the tent! The fabric pots got another shared 2 gallons of H²O. They are giving off a happy & content vibe. The other 2 plants got just enough to saturate the mosquito bits some more.

As for the outdoor garden, the season is ramping up quickly! Stoked! While I was off for most of last week, I managed to get quite a bit done in the garden. Yesterday, I finished running my main irrigation lines! I also was able to test my new B-Hyve irrigation timer dedicated for the cannabis garden! All working and no leaks! Now to get plants in their respective spots and figure out which drip heads I want to install for each. Having the garden automated will be a huge boost of confidence for me.

I have an abundance of clones and need to get them potted up, given away, or thrown out. If there is anyone within the Central Coast region of California that would like any of those, feel free to DM me. No charge. Just want to bless others if possible.

This Rosetta Stone has been out in its spot for the season with no supplemental light for a couple weeks. Seems to be humming along nicely with no signs of flowering. It was a "test" of sorts to see how soon after the 12+ hr days I can push my luck.

This Candida is not where it will be transplanted but wanted to show her off anyway. She too has been out in the garden with no supplemental light for a couple weeks.

I'll be giving these big plastic tubs a try this season. I made many large holes in the bottom and around the edges. I would like to see the difference between these and my larger fabric pots. This container has soil that I made last year. I emptied out two 7 gallon fabric pots. I have yet to amend it with any nutrients or minerals. That's happening this week. It will be at least another few weeks before I plan on transplanting. Give them some time to marinate and "cook" the nutrients.
I recently ordered some 15 gallon @GeoPot too. They have a 25% off sale going on BTW via their online retailer.

Ohhh...and all my comfrey overwintered and is growing back strong! This crown is already flowering. I hope to be able to collect the seed.

Comfrey is an excellent green mulch and mineral accumulating plant for your gardens. I have all mine "controlled" by keeping them in pots sitting directly in various areas of my garden. This plant can and will start to take over your landscape if you aren't careful. Not a terrible thing but I also would prefer to not have an abundance of it...yet.

Also, the diva of the tent is showing signs of being a diva outdoors too. The Cinderella 99 (with a repaired split main stem) showing signs of something. Any thoughts?
Reminder, this is in organic living soil getting fed dry amendments every 2 weeks. Watering has been relatively consistent. :eye-roll: :ciao::laugh: Seems to be my calling card. I'm increasing her water this week to see if that helps. In the meantime, if this looks familiar, please chime in.

That's it for me today. Off to finish my day. Blessings y'all.

Good afternoon, gents! If you don't mind me asking, what do mosquito bits do?

Is that a fig tree in the pot to the right of the white one?
No. That is a plum tree.
Just a thought on the C99...is it getting reflected sunlight from a window or something?
No. At least I don't think so.
Good afternoon, gents! If you don't mind me asking, what do mosquito bits do?
Hey Scott. I use them to help me control fungus gnats. They are sold as bits or dunks. Typically used to control mosquito populations in standing water (ponds, troughs, etc.) It is a specialized bacteria that attacks the larval stage of mosquitos and in our case, fungus gnats too. Here's what the package looks like. As Shed mentioned, the best way to use them is to steep them in water and then water it in.

Hey folks. Nothing major for an update but uploading pics anyway. Sorry if it's getting boring.

These three are in fabric pots. I checked my high-tech bamboo skewer moisture meters, and my last couple drenches have not been enough. Plan is to completely saturate them today with a substantial runoff. I have been allowing them to drip into the built in tent tray. I really don't like doing that but I had to pull my individual trays out because of space. With two less plants in there now, it may be time to put them back in. With all that said though, they have been looking happy and praying!

Queen of Soul is looking better and the self-watering reservoir has been filling up and keeping her hydrated it seems. I'm still giving her a spray to keep the topsoil moist.

C99 getting some more branches pushed down to make room for lower stuff to poke through. I'm not feeling confident that I'll be able to get away without some support. Working on that probably later today if I can figure out what to do.

Rosetta Stone looking so fine!

A look at the Candida stacking!

Have a nice day everyone and I appreciate you all checking things out in my journal. Blessings.

I'm on to you now! The difference between the first and second pics is the writing (and you stood on your tiptoes for the first one). :thumb:
Haaa haaa! :green_heart: Thanks for noticing! My calves are sore today from trying to get the perfect pic. But couldn't quite get it. Maybe another round of pics?! ;) heeeeeere you gooooo...

Today marks flip day +12 and they are looking happy. Today, the moisture meters were showing plenty of moisture! I got a good thorough drench. Going to let them go a couple days to use that up before giving them anything else. As a side note, I broke up some of the worm castings and they all had quite a bit of white happy feeder roots poking out. I should have got a pic (or 100) for Shed! The Space Queen has the most worm life with loads of babies no matter where I broke up the "mulch". It was awesome to see them thriving.

Space Queen

Cinderella 99  She's really looking like Cinderella. All raggedy and ugly before the ball! Did you remember here just a few weeks ago?! Holy hell!

Rosetta Stone

Queen of Soul

Candida

The newest C99 clones outside,

still aren't showing roots 9 days in. Not a big deal. I went super simple with them and only added @DYNOMYCO and some rooting powder. They've been outside I'm the greenhouse in a tray and dome. And they are still standing tall. Not ideal considering the cold nights, but it does tell me it's possible.

Side note, topped 4 branches off the Rosetta Stone out in the garden. This will be the 2nd topping with this clone. Topped main branch a few weeks back (don't remember) and then again yesterday afternoon.

I'm happy with the pics I got...healthy looking crowd!
Lol. Good. I'm glad. You know I kid. I agree. They are looking happier lately. Going to let then wait until late Sunday to drench them again. They are due for another topdress so it's almost like it was "planned'.
Move those clones to a nice 80° environment and watch those roots grow. :)
I agree. I was just trying to point out that they are still doing ok, even in natural temps. I'm in no hurry for roots. These were just extras for shirts and giggles. During the day, they consistently get over 80° with quite a few days where it gets much higher. They are getting the full cold of the night too. More of an experiment than anything to see how successful it could be. They are also supplemental light all night.

Now that I'm actually getting around to starting this perpetual journal, I have no idea what to write. I did know however that I wanted to start it on New Year. It is about having goals and getting them accomplished. A perpetual journal has been one of those goals!

This is simply a continuation from other journals and showcasing my personal journey in growing this blessed plant! I would love for anyone to join. Help teach and learn. I welcome wisdom with open arms. I have so much to learn, not just about growing, but this whacky ass life! I hope you are able to find blessings in this journal as I already know how much this community has blessed me.

This journal will start with genetics that I am simply ecstatic about!

Cinderella 99 & Rosetta Stone from Brothers Grimm Seeds.

Started 3 beans of each tonight at 9pm PST.

Smoke one with me as we venture together into a wonderful journey of growing, wisdom, blessings, mistakes, laughter, and love!

Peace & Blessings,
Baked :smokin2:
BakedARea…you had me at pics of the seeds and descriptions on the back. Thanks for stopping by and I will catch up here. Cheers

Looking beautiful BA!
Thanks Stung! Excited to get another dose of @GeoFlora Nutrients on them tomorrow! They will get another boost right in the middle of transition. Then I'm thinking only 2 more topdressings.
