BakedARea's Cultivated Blessings: A Myriad Of Genetics & Shenanigans

Thems some wild temperature swings! Hardy plants. :)
IKR!!! That's why I wanted to share those screenshots. I don't need those clones but it would be interesting to see how long it takes them to fully root and turn into some legit plants. I've been keeping the foliage sprayed and rh 90+%. It's fun to try things just to see if it works. Kind of like playing with the light cycle and testing to see how soon I could get them into the garden without supplemental light. Fun and unnecessary but still worth the effort for the information.

Not sure they'll ever root like that! Why would they ever need to in that tropical environment. :)
Hmmm...I was under the impression they needed to have their leaves with some moisture because they have no way to bring in moisture otherwise. I could definitely cut that back though. What would you suggest?

I start de-doming after 3-4 days and never spray the leaves. The dome hold enough moisture during the first few days after cutting and then I want to start lowering the RH so the cutting needs to root.
Gotcha. OK. I'll start getting them hardened off without the dome. Thanks for the info.
But you don't need my advice since you've done lots of clones!
I could always use advise Shed. Your insight is always appreciated. I'm not even set on "my way" of doing clones. There are so many ways of doing things. That's why I like trying new things. In my brain, for some reason I thought they needed the high RH until roots.

So far, the best success rate for me was soaking clones in fresh aloe blended gel water with kelp extract. Then myco and dipped into soil. Stripped all the leaves except the top nodes and sprayed for a few days to keep RH high. After roots were visible, I started getting them acclimated to the tent RH. I had full roots in less than a week.

For these, trying something new, I'm more surprises they're still doing and looking good honestly!

I am cloning 2 at the moment. One for my helper at work and one for a Bonzai Mom I want to try for my perpetual grow. I bought domed pots at the dollarstore with air vents on top. Works great, soil stays moist and and RH stays steady. I will start to vent the humidity before I up-pot them to acclimate to its new environment.
Lol Just read in @InTheShed reply. So... as he said... :thumb:

Happy Sunday 420 peeps! It marks 2 weeks since the flip. Baby buds are looking beautiful! They were all ready for a deep drench. Unfortunately, the Space Queen got too dry for the worms and they started escaping. The plant looked fine but I lost a dozen or more adult worms from what I could count. Tomorrow, I think the plant would have been stressed from thirst.

Today was also feeding day for the soil! All the plants in the tent got a topdressing of @GeoFlora Nutrients 'Bloom' and they all shared 6 gallons of H²O until runoff for all of them!
  • 2 cups for the Candida (~1.5 CF container) and roughly 1/2 cup extra
  • 1 cup for the C99 & QoS (7 gal container) and 1/3 cup extra

  • 1/2 cup for the RS & SQ (5 gal container)

Have a wonderful evening 420 friends. Going to be in and out for most of the week. I'll do my best to stay updated with you all. Blessings.

Hey Scott! I have a little bonsai Northern Lights auto in flower. When I get a dedicated veg tent, my goal is to have multiple mother plants of my favorites.

I utilized similar domed items. I normally just upcycled some plastic containers. Lately, I've taken upward of a dozen clones at a time so I started using a 10"x20" nursery tray. I get the tall domes made for the trays and do my best to keep the clones from touching the lid.

I just took my lid off the clones last night @InTheShed and this morning they still looked good. I decided to leave it off all day and they are still looking good. Going to leave them like this and just keep the medium damp. Thanks again for the push in that direction if logic with the high humidity. Hopefully I haven't cut it back on them too drastically. LOL I guess we'll know tomorrow morning. I'm guessing they'll be fine.

Gotta do a head count every morning. Sounds like it's time to send out the posse!
You darn tootin' we gonna get that posse on it right away! Thankfully all the baby worms stayed and are working overtime in the top few inches of soil! Woooo! Ohhh and look who's still looking half decent after a few days without a dome!

A quick update pic from this morning. Nothing to report. They are looking happy though!

And absolutely nothing to do with growing...but my personal truck got side swiped this morning. It was parked in front of my house. The piece of shit drove off afterward. It happened about 10 minutes after I left for work. Thankfully, I have multiple video and still images of the incident. Hopefully the police are able to locate the person. Other than that...a good day. :lot-o-toke::lot-o-toke::lot-o-toke:

Told you you didn't need my advice. :)
Uhhh...I did use your advise. Are you dense or something?! Or am I? :hmmmm: :high-five:
They're looking great BA, but sorry to hear about your vehicle getting damaged.
Thanks Stung. I definitely got stung today. Hee hee...see what I did there?! It's a 2000 Toyota Tundra I got used in 2002. It has served me well. It still has life left. But it was my commuter. Thankfully, this week I get to use the company vehicle but at the end of the week, I need to figure something else out. Not exactly a good time to be buying a vehicle.:rip: to the savings accounts...

Hey everyone. I hope you are all doing well! Thanks for swinging by. Have a great day!

What a week so far! Still keeping my chin up and trudging along the best I can. Life is a wicked balancing act at times. Getting the truck back today. Looks like only an alignment will be needed (for now). No immediate or obvious structural damage to the frame or suspension, besides the door and fender. Wheeeew!!! Dodged a bullet there. I really was not in the mood to hastily purchase another vehicle without an opportunity to research. As much as I don't want, I think I still need to get another vehicle anyway. Anybody want a couple teenagers by chance?! No takers?

Had a brutal shift yesterday so I'm getting some "rest earned" this morning. Enjoying an amazing cup of coffee without any distractions or time constraints!

Anyyyywhoooo... Going to post the past few days of pictorial updates and some stretch measurements (17 days). Plus as point of adding information, I have been rotating the plants (except the Candida) every couple of days. Nothing exact or measured. Just giving them a half turn when I remember to which is about every other day and sometimes everyday. Honestly...I just don't care enough to say they have all received X amount of rotations in the last few weeks.

April 16th - Flipped to 12/12 - Measurement from top of soil to top of canopy
May 4th +17 days since flip
Queen of Soul - 25" | 31"
Rosetta Stone - 21" | 27"
Cinderella 99 - 21" | 21" :hmmmm:
Space Queen - 31" | 41"
Candida - 14" | 23"

The fabric pots mostly got a shared 4 gallon drench of water to runoff. Then finally got the wet vac to suck it all out. Moistened the topsoil of the self-watering 7 gallon container that has the QoS. Also, moistened the garden box that has the Candida.

Space Queen dominating the stretch. I have at least 2-3 nodes of branches that can be cut off.

Queen of Soul

Candida :green_heart::green_heart::green_heart:

I need to add some support to her trunk. She's leaning a little so that will be corrected this weekend during her haircut.

Queen of Soul

C99 - I have been doing some LST on some of the leading branches over the past few days. A lot of strong growth coming from everywhere. Tough picture to see it but the back side of her canopy is a few inches about these bud sites. As the breeder has described, this is an excellent candidate for SCROG. She requires A LOT of trimming and I'm a little nervous because of how much of a diva she is with stress. At least under my care thus far. I'm getting better though so hopefully I have her healthy enough to bounce back and not skip a beat.

And to this morning at Day 18 and another drench. This time, I am adding some @Sierra Natural Science SNS209 for the next 5 drenches as a preventative. Take a few weeks off and cross my fingers that nothing tries to attack the plants before they finish.

FYI, the Space Queen is on the left. C99 is front and center. Rosetta Stone is behind her.

Queen of Soul on the front right.

Candida in the back right.

I am preparing for many hours this weekend of pruning, trimming, and adding supports for these plants. I need a general plan of attack. Need to remove needless branches and larf. Need to clean up the canopies to get better air flow and light through it. Many growers here do this pre-flip and around the 3 week mark. But how much is too much is what has me nervous. I am horrible at retaining many of the details I learn from the countless journals I read and even from the responses I get on my own journals. I do apologize for that frustrating aspect of my tenure here. Bookmarks! I know...

My version of trimming after stretch is easy: take off whatever hasn't reached the canopy, as well as the lowest buds on the branches that have reached the canopy (the ones that don't look like they'll connect to the top colas).

Things are different for plants going straight to oil since they won't get much trimming. I might leave more lower buds on the canopy branches for those.

Hope a little R and R is doing you good!

Sounds good! That's generally what I was aiming for in my head. Going to stick with that plan. Hey Shed. I'm curios about how you feel the Candida is looking so far. Compared to your previous experience with her. I'm tempted to pull her outward to make enough space for all the tops she has developed. Or should I chop some instead and grow less tops?!

Also...guess what...THRIPS are back! I found one this afternoon. Glad I started the SNS209 again today. They will be getting some until at least 2-3 weeks before harvest. I also gave the tent floor and a couple edges a couple squeezes of pyrethrin spray. Hopefully it kills off the majority of anything that is currently hatched. I'm tempted to reapply again every 4 days for the next 2 weeks. That and SNS209 should keep me bug free until the end.

Good morning Baked sorry about your truck.
Hopefully they get them.
Your garden looks great don't kill yourself this weekend pruning.
Try and get some time for yourself.
You deserve it.:thumb:
Take care my friend.

Stay safe :cheesygrinsmiley:

I'd just let it grow as is but giving it some space seems like a good idea. It loves to get bushy so if you too anything it will turn into a true hedge!
