BakedARea's Cultivated Blessings: A Myriad Of Genetics & Shenanigans

Well, the questionable Sour 60 from yesterday, is officially done. The seed membrane and hull constricted around the stem, suffocating it and with a light tug, the entire top of its head come right off. Whatever...:lot-o-toke:

The other one that had a snip at the end of it tap root also failed to germinate. That is 1-3 on the Sour 60. For a total of 1-9 with that breeder thus far.

So here are the 3 living autos so far as of this morning. Sour 60 on the left and the Northern Lights. I have HIGH hopes for the Northern Lights. As soon as they are ready to be potted up, they will be going in and out until harvest.

Well I said that your last update I commented on was my favorite update yet but your update prior to this last update maybe my new favorite because it encompassed everything I love including that sushi plate...damn.

Looking splendid

You're too sweet. Thank you amiga! Blessings and good vibes.

I got a bit behind in this journal and missed the action.

I think the best and only way for @BakedARea and @Moony to sort out this very interesting and robust discussion is to take off their shirts and fight it out in a jelly pit and live stream it for us!

Jelly fights FTW!

PS you two debate like true gentlemen. It was actually a pleasure to read. :)

the universe telling you to grow photoperiod plants
:laugh::laugh: I tell you what...I do prefer photos hands down! Everything about them is just better. I do want to get better at autos though to get some harvests in between the outdoor photos. I think that's about the only time I want to even mess with them.
Good morning Rea :)

I’m all caught up and your newest grow is looking ace :)

And that night night looked perfect! Sunset, cocktails and sushi are three of my favourite things :)
Hey Trala! Thanks for swinging by. You're so awesome. I hope you have a wonderful V day.

A little bit of stretch happening since I had them only getting indirect light. I left some space for extra soil on purpose.

Humming along. Candida is on the right at 99 days. No signs of thrips the past couple days. Granted...I have not done a decent hunt for then either. I guess I'm just not stressing about them at this point.

Space Queen seems to be doing just fine. The new nodes look great!

Cute sprouts and the veggers look really healthy!
Thanks! They do seem to be smiling more the past few days. Sure is making me smile.
Any thrips are yours. I only deliver aphids when I deliver bugs!
Haaa haaa. Fair enough. I did mean the other plants. You'd be happy to know that no aphids have been seen. She came clean as a whistle when I inspected her before putting her in the tent!

Well...that was a quick decline. Minus one Northern Lights. A little bummed about this one honestly.
I have a couple more of these freebies from WSE that I'll drop in a few weeks to try again.

As for the rest of the tent, they were feeling light this morning. Their last drink was 2/10, Thur. I knew my day would be a little scattered so I figured I would wait until lights on. That's technically the start of their day. They'll have a full light cycle to use up the initial saturation from the drench. They all received 1 gallon of drench with:
  • 2 tsp yucca extract
  • 1/4 tsp of Ful-Humix (humic acid concentrate)
  • 8mL SNS209 ( I remembered!!!)
  • 2 tsp of Kelzyme (calcium & minerals)
I did add Kelzyme to the soil before transplant. Since it is a mineral based product, remember to take into account the time it will take for microbes to break it down and make it usable. With this product being micronized, it accomplishes that at a faster rate. Adding it to a drench solution gives you another way to get it into the root zone faster. This is the first time me trying it in a drench. It is still a new product to me. But this is an approach to stay ahead of the curve with a potential calcium deficit. Doing what I can to avoid that by giving the soil plenty to pull from. The plan is to include some every 3rd to 4th watering.

The saponin from the yucca. I used 2x the recommended dosage. It definitely slowed down the absorption of the drench. I'm going to try 4x dose next time to see how well it down. May end up using a sprayer next time to do my watering. Just to slow it down even more.

The kelzyme and ful-humix are not completely water soluble FYI. I allowed everything to soak for 10-20 minutes and begun an agitation cycle for a few minutes to break down whatever else I can. This is what is left over. I just added another 1L of clean water to my container to rinse it out and put any residual product into the Candida container. She'll use it up, when the microbes break it down!

Look at how pretty she is looking!

So my plan is to get clones off her. Knowing she was close to wanting needing water, I figured I would drench her and let her soak up more goodness BEFORE taking the clones. I wad going to rush and get clones today. I slowed down and my inclination was to just wait until tomorrow instead. Allow her some time to plump up with nutes and vigor before chopping her up.

They BG plants were looking happy but I think by the end of the day tomorrow, without a drink they wouldn't be so thrilled. Trying to avoid the dry cycles and keep these leaves with enough moisture. I tend to under water as it is. I hope they don't get too droopy from the drench. Because they look so pretty right now!

Looking great BA, and the Candida's looking sparkling now!
Thanks Stung. Yeah she is! I'm excited to cut her to shreds today. I'm actually only to go for the bottom most branches. I don't need a bunch of clones. Would like to have at least one duplicate vegging at all times though.

So maybe a couple clones to grow and flower? Then two small moms? Not really sure what's the right logic to approach with keeping moms. I still don't have a dedicated momma tent/space.

Need to get some slave child labor into the garage and start making space. Who am I kidding. It won't get done until I get off my ass and get it done.

Sorry about the floppy sprout but everything else looks stellar! In terms of mother plants, once your cloning game is strong you can just grow one out until it's too big for a 1 gallon, then clone it and toss it and start again in a solo cup. That's pretty much what I've been doing these days with my Candidas. I don't want to have to keep root pruning and thinning and finding room for it.

Hey everyone! I hope you're having a great week. Been a rough one for me, but slowly trudging along. Going to be a quick visual update as I need to run. Thanks for joining me on this journey and I'll do my best to get caught up with everyone else's gardens in the coming days. If I don't respond right away, please know I do care about you all. Peace, love, and blessings always!

Ok... those autos are out of the way. Not growing too vigorously quite yet.

Quick recap of growth for the past couple days for the BG genetics.

And now for my latest cloning process. It is a combination of methods that I figured I should document and share. Started with sifting through my coco/perlite to get a consistent sized medium. Plus adding additional perlite. Don't ask about ratios please. I did not get that technical into my mix. I did it until it felt right. That's about as much effort as I cared to put into it.

Then started prepping my cloning solution by cutting off a 2 year old pad off one of aloe plants. This is a known and organic method for cloning many different species of plants. I also included some kelp extract to the solution too. Another wonderful boost for cuttings of various species. After I let them soak for a good amount of time (15+ minutes), I covered the cut and stems with rooting powder. Poked a hole into the soil and put them in. I ran out of time and space so I was not able to get all the cuts I wanted.

Have a great day folks.

Lovely update BA. The picture of the Aloe leaf cut in half looks absolutely amazing. I very recently up potted an Aloe Vera plant that I was given but I haven't yet cut anything from it as I want it settle in and grow a bit first. Fingers crossed for the clones!
