Babygirl’s Sour Livers DWC Hydro Grow Journal, November 2021

2021-11-14 - Day 8

Tent temp: 73F
Humidity: 42%
Res temp: 67F
PPM: 300
pH: 5.9 … added .25ml pH down; pH now at 5.2
Water level: no noticeable drop yet

First set of leaves definitely past the edges of the rooter this morning: second set of leaves passing those baby leaves. Color looks good. No signs of deficiency or toxicity so I’m going with the assumption that for now the 1/4 strength nutes are doing just what they should.

Looking good

Looking good. Any particular reason you are only using 1/4 strength nutes? Did I miss why?

Looking good
Thx Jack!

Yup - cuz she’s a baby and I don't wanna burn her ;) … give her another week and if all is well, I’ll bump her up to half strength … and then go up from there. Slow and steady!

The best way u can do wit with out messing or trying to go a recovery mode !!

So I was just watching a playback of my tent cam and noticed the first leaves fluttering slowly upwards - as if they’re “holding their hands up.” I noticed this yesterday as well and then they came back down again, and I think they came back down once the drip ring had been on for a little while.

So does “leaves up” mean “I’m thirsty” and “leaves down” mean “No more for now, thank you”?

Or praying to light
She's pretty short - I don’t think I could get one of the larger pieces of hydroton under her baby leaves! And since these TS 600 lights don’t have dimmers, I’m afraid of putting them too low and giving her a sunburn. They’re currently at 22.5” (as high as they can possibly go in the tent) and @Mars Hydro ’s suggestion for seedlings is 24”, so I’m already closer than I should be.

My outdoor plants pray to the sun lol - it just means they’re happy. Now, if the sides fold up like a taco - they‘ve had enough.
Another good thing for me to keep in mind!

  • New extension cords with built-in timers have been installed
  • My two beautiful @Mars Hydro TS600 lights are up! They're plugged into one timer extension cord set to 20/4 light schedule
  • The hydroton is soaking in the laundry sink in the 3ml/gallon of bleach and tap water solution
  • The buckets are now running a 3ml/gallon of bleach and tap water solution through the drip rings. (The drip rings will be on the other timer extension cord set to come on for 30 minutes every 6 hours once the buckets have the seedling(s) and have nute solution in them.)
  • Each drip ring has been connected to its own little air pump to allow the bubblers in each bucket as much air as possible from the big air pump
  • In line fan and carbon filter have been re-aligned to provide as much possible head space for those banging new lights
  • 6” fans have finally gotten hooked up (had to use some of that foam paper wrapped around the tent poles to keep them from sliding down)
  • Tent cam attached to tent pole now too so I can start taking some time lapses soon! (I’ll start that once the seedling goes into the bucket)
God what a morning (that was a total pain in the butt)!

But look at these AWESOME lights!
@cjsbabygirl313 glad to see you progressing after a sluggish start but your patience and perseverance seems to be paying off :woohoo: and I am sending you some green thumb vibes for your success with ya new baby.....nice setup with the new lights looking much better than the blurple :bravo:

Why thank you @420 Ceasar ! For me the start is always the hardest, but the lights were courtesy of the @Mars Hydro contest they had last month. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do, and so far my little girl is loving the bright lights of Mars ;)

And keep those green thumb vibes coming this way! Lord knows I could use them :laughtwo:

Res temp: 67F
PPM: 320
pH: 6.2 … added .5ml pH down; pH now at 5.1

So far, I’m not seeing evidence just yet of the 3rd set of leaves, but it does look as if she’s now growing UP instead of just outwards!
