I’ll be honest Delta - this is getting a bit wearisome, and I don’t say that lightly.
I keep giving you details like my tent temperatures and Co2 levels which you seem not to read.
You just give strictures to us on how to grow half a pound off top colas and save the lower stuff for cooking. That’s great and I follow your thread. Works for you then its the way to grow! There is stuff I think I wrote there about the early yellowed leaves I mentioned a few weeks back when they were much smaller but I tried to do so in a constructive feedback way (N def) I am never going to proscribe some “correct” way. Your run off to x% the pot hmm OK seems like a waste of nutes to me. But works for you, awesome!
We all have our different motivations and interests. I am interested and learn from people growing full organic, SIPs, table tops, soil, coco, DWC, bell syphons and indeed some crazy that schleps his plants inside and out. My commercial farmer mate taught me to read the plants - he’s grown every which way. Late start to his out door season so its only 1200 plants. I learn a little from all and would never dream of saying its gotta be this way”
I read a lot and when I do something its been really thought through. I give my rationale and then if it fails I fess to it quick and easy normally with a rueful grin, a joke for deflection and then telling the person they were right. Its the fun of the game for me.
I grow for max yield to sell. The style is coco, small pots, liquid nutes, loads of lights and Co2. I’ve grown a lot, like 11 kilos this way in less than a year. Next year will be more and better quality. All tested for THC too - I take it semi seriously
But with respect - if you don’t like my style of growing (and Jon’s will not be dissimilar) its fine. There are 100’s of other grows and this one is as the thread title suggests Jon v Nick.
if you were giving real thought out opinions rather than “50w per sq/f - its the law” or “Co2 is bad” without the ability to substantiate the first or understand why the plants actually consume the Co2 (and any other in the area) it’d be interesting. Open to opinions and new learning for sure.
This is a journal between two mates, other sides of the world. We have loads of the above types of growers watching along, the table toppers, your outdoor growers, your up a tree growers, in your bedroom growers following along for which we’re thankful. They aren’t going to change their grow styles reading this any more than we expect you to change yours.
You’re also not going to convince either of us to change our styles to yours I suspect!
Its meant to fun but boy is it gonna be competitive!
So follow or don’t. But please be respectful of our styles of grow in our journal is all I ask. We’re all about positivity here.
Nick - with love, stumbling over the end of line at the end of a long, long 2023!
