Autoflower Myth Busting Thread

Wow,
I'm growing now 4wks old, 4 AF's; N. Lights, Super Critical, Sweet Train Wreck, and Girl Scout Cookies in a 4'x4'x 6.5' grow tent. Lighting is 400w mh, side lighting is 42w 65k CFL's x 2. Your girl's are really budded out :bravo: How old, how tall are they in the photo's.

Ok I have had a few questions on mix and feed lately and why to bubble or why I bubble tap water and how....

I bubble the tap water to #1 evaporate the chlorine... we are paying 50 dollars or more for a Liter of vodoo juice plus another 50 for piranha or whatever else your using wet her it AN or other cheaper brands were talking any fert or nute that contains benificial microbes... chlorine kills microbes. You waste your money when you mix these into tap that contains chlorine straight from the pipes

#2 we want as much oxygen to the root system as possible so bubbling 24hrs will saturate the water with as much oxygen as possible then the H2O will carry this oxygen to the roots when feeding

It's done using a jug, a bubble stone, and an aquarium airator

That and I hear stagnant water kills plants.

I fill 20L cool boxes with water and either run one of my hydro pumps or just dunk a container in and then pour it back in from a height to make bubbles now and again. I like to leave my water out long enough for chlorine to evaporate (and pH to stabilise) but not so long it will stagnate.

Atrain

I've got a pump and air stone from a fish tank that's not in service right now, plus a PPM meter. Might make for an interesting experiment. I know my tap water is 145 PPM. I bet in the summer, on Mondays, it would be quite a bit higher. Every Monday when it's warm weather, my water company puts extra Chlorine in the water to flush the pipes and make sure they stay clean. You don't want to drink the water on those days. Smells and tastes like pool water.

Based on your previous post, looks like I'll start 4 for this next grow. 2 Sweet Trainwreck, 1 Ice Cool, and 1 Rhino Ryder. The Rhino is supposed to be the shortest of the 3 strains and also takes the longest. Since I have 2 plants of my current 5 ready to be chopped (the other 3 look like they need another week), I thought I'd start the Rhino before the others to give it a head start. Maybe that way the canopy will be somewhat level for the majority of the grow. What I can't control on the top side of the plant I'll manage by putting something under the pots to keep things even. At least that's the plan. Wife was pretty dead set on trying the Rhino Ryder from the write up, so it has to be in the mix somehow. Those boys at Fastbud do write some good descriptions for their seeds. Life is a little marketing and she definitely went for it. lol

I know you're a LST guy, and Beast believes in topping. Might have to do my own side by side with those 2 Trainwrecks as a comparison. Since it's a quicker finisher I'm wondering if there is enough time for it to rebound from being topped. Maybe topping works best on strains that take longer to finish. Do you know if anyone has made that comparison yet? LST vs Topped on a 8 week strain and LST vs Topped on a 10 week strain.

Here's a little ice cool auto porn for ya.... I did this as a little sample for a friend just stuck it in a one quart pot... still looking very nice so I can imagine in a 3 gal she'll prosper

Yeah, thank god I started following this thread from the beginning. Reading back 45 pages from this point all at one time would take a while. Great discussion though. Personally I want to get this auto thing down so I can prove to a buddy that they aren't scrawny, low producing, low potency plants. He's old school. I've seen what you all have accomplished, I just want one like that coming out of my tent. Unfortunately I didn't accomplish my goal on my very 1st grow, but I read a lot, learned from my mistakes, and am a bit OCD. It will happen, hopefully on round 2, if not, round 3... I'm stubborn that way.

She's a white one! The Ice Cool was a freebie I wasn't expecting that showed up with my order. Who am I to turn it down.

I'm waiting on a USB microscope to show up from amazon today - will post back once I've used it!

Carson zOrb USB Digital Microscope with 53x Optical Zoom, Surf Blue (MM-480B)

I don't use a USB scope, but have been very happy with the $15 Carson MicroBrite Plus 60x-120x that I got. It's mainly for use on a surface, for peeking around in the tent my cheap Chinese 30x and 60x lighted magnifier does fine.
