Autoflower Myth Busting Thread

Ok folks.... I have a major buzz and have had something come up hundreds of times and wanted to talk about it....

I'm my opinion there are 2 types of growers and reasoning otlr logic doesn't matter to me I just want to help... your either organic or your not..... I can't help the organic growers all I can say is stay strong and stick to your guns... if your not then your in the boat with me... I'm not going into specifics and all that and rigamaroar.....

If you are not organic and you use bottle nutrients do yourself a favor..... I can say this because pro mix pays 420 and it's a sponsor so I'll just say use pro mix..... that should not get deleted due to they pay 420 so I can say that.... take it upon yourself to choose your own medium.... but let me tell you why I use pro mix.

When using nutrients from a bottle it is key that your medium has 0 nutrients. You want to know what they are getting and how much of that they are getting. If there are nutrients in your medium you cannot control what they get and if you feed you are flying by the seat of your plant and waiting on problems. Trust me it happened to me.

Choose yourself a medium with 0 nutes and dial in your feed with practice and patients.

I will tell you also that when helping people having problems with any number of things with there plants (bottle feeding) they are using fox farms soil........ all types but especially ocean forest but ALL of them really.....

If you use fox farms without problems congrats but your not feeding with bottle nutes and if you are your not maximizing plants ....

atrain i agree good medium is key and pot size to achive a perfect plant. once u find the 1 for u never switch ha ha.i do use bottle nutes but i also use all organic products also take root dutch pro.mutltitotal dutch pro.all organic.the dutch pro bloom feed is not organic tho.and the soil i use is that good i dont need to feed any veg until 3half to 4 weeks of age.and with autos by week 6 flower is happening.so my plants only get about 2 veg feeds then onto bloom.i think using the organics along side the bottles gives u a more natural and perfect taste end result.just my own finding;)hope this helps.happy growing every1

Yeah, was thinking about this last night and this is my first run with pro mix, using doc's kit, and I think that's got a lot to do with the burst of growth I'm seeing on a few. Let those roots grow in that soft medium and once you give them some feed they explode. Good points atrain. Totally agree, there are times I consider hydro, but I think pro mix, but I think I'm good now.

I hear ya man... the grower is in control with promix and the nutrients work the way they are intended with no interference from what is already in the soil in truly unknown amounts...

that's one of the reasons i've been so happy with the sunshine 4 for so long. there is an organic starter fert, but it mostly washes out after a few weeks of watering. it's more intended as a stress reducer for transplants. my favorite thing about it is the drainage and the way it stays fluffy. no hard panning no matter how old it gets. it also makes a good mushroom casing layer :laughtwo:

i guess you will be able to see it action soon.. here's my first two auto's as of this morning. CKS Candy Cane on the left and CKS Early Miss on the right. 12hr soak and 12 hours in the paper towel..

suppose i better get those pots ready lol

This little lady should be ready to pick in about 7 days - she's just over 4 feet tall, and I'm guessing I net 3.5g dry.

Atrain,

I know you use Pro-Mix, and I believe I saw it in one of your other posts, am I correct that you add 1 tablespoon of lime per gallon to your mix? Also, do you add any extra Perlite? I'm using Pro-Mix HP with 20% additional Perlite, but I didn't add any additional lime to mine. I know it already has some in it from the manufacturer but wondered if it could use more.

Also, how many plants do you think I should be growing in a 32"x32"x63" tent with two 300w Mars Hydro LED's (old model)? Plants will be in 3 gallon smart pots? Did 5 on my current grow (1st ever) and the only reason it wasn't over crowded is because I messed up a bunch learning, and plants didn't reach their full potential. Geneticly I don't think they were that hot either so they weren't gonna get huge to begin with. Sitting on 7 seeds right now (4 Sweet Seeds Trainwreck, 1 Sweet Seeds Ice Cool, 1 Dinafem Critical X, 1 Fastbuds Rhino Ryder). I know that at least 1 Trainwreck and the Rhino Ryder are going in for sure. Not sure how many more and which strains will accompany them.

I have since stopped adding lime to my mixes and I still have 0 problems... so you are fine. And I do not add extra perlite but you having the HP as you stated it's already in there so I say as long as your using AN nutes just put your Promix in the pot and go with it.

I would run 4 autos in there just do your research on strain size and try to pick 4 of kinda the same stature... I'm in a 3x3x5 and run 4 everytime unless I know it's an XL strain then I use 2.

I have an ice cool auto flowering now... very nice plants and smells wonderful

Holy shit first 2L a day watering and she jumped about 2 inches at least and the Trans Siberian bean has started to poke through the soil :circle-of-love:

Hold on to ypu britches my friend... your plant is a picture perfect example... you tied and trained and now leading into stretch she's drinking 2L a day... that's when they blow up.. . What are your base nutes @?

Ok I have had a few questions on mix and feed lately and why to bubble or why I bubble tap water and how....

I bubble the tap water to #1 evaporate the chlorine... we are paying 50 dollars or more for a Liter of vodoo juice plus another 50 for piranha or whatever else your using wet her it AN or other cheaper brands were talking any fert or nute that contains benificial microbes... chlorine kills microbes. You waste your money when you mix these into tap that contains chlorine straight from the pipes

#2 we want as much oxygen to the root system as possible so bubbling 24hrs will saturate the water with as much oxygen as possible then the H2O will carry this oxygen to the roots when feeding

It's done using a jug, a bubble stone, and an aquarium airator

I have had a few questions on bubbling water before feeds.... above is the why.... here is the HOW... I use these jugs... any jug that will contain enough h20 for you to water your mature plants will work. These were cat liter jugs I re purposed

Your aquarium pump will plug into the wall and tubing will be attached and a bubble stone to the end of the tubing and ran to the bottom of your bucket and it should be ran 24 hrs prior to mix and immediate feed after mix

The aquarium pump is no specific brand.... we're not running hydro it's not going in a res so essentially go to amazon or your local goldfish store and buy the CHEAPEST ONE.....

It's a good idea to have extra buckets I fill 3 at a time and when one is low or used up just move the pump over to a full one....

If this is not clear or doesn't straighten things out please let me know
