Ask Us Anything: Sharing Knowledge 420 Style

3 White widow photos- 4 weeks old
80% FFOF, 30% Perlite
In 2 gallon fabric pots for 2 1/2 weeks
Reverse Osmosis water Ph'd to 6.5
Just started adding Cal mag watering before last
2-300 watt LED lights 23" away
Humidity 40-50, Temp 77-82

Yellowing and dying leaves at the bottom - is this just normal maturing of the plant?

A few leaves (all towards the bottom) have yellowing and browning at the tips and a few small brown spots on other leaves.

After I noticed this I gave 1/2 dose of Grow Big (first time) and 2ml of Cal Mag.(second dose) The yellowing/brown spots slowed down, but the affected leaves are slowing dying.

I keep hearing to test the run off, but it's not enough to test with my ph stick, maybe I'm not watering enough at one time? They share a half gallon about ever 3 days or when the top inch is dry.

I have the excact same issue, same results after nutes, mirror image. I am lookin for a common cause, if it was me what did I do and how do I fix it. I did nothing but water my plants till this happened, no nutes no nothing. Proper lights, proper time, proper ventilation, no bugs. I did however start and plant in miracle gro moisture control potting mix. I have talked to nute manufacturers and they explained to me this was a very "hot" product meaning is was loaded with enough nutes to last six months. The ratio in miracle grow is 24-8-16. I am not suggesting anything nor tryin to fix anything for you I'm just lookin for a common thread or smoking gun so I can avoid this problem in the future

Thanks GrimReefer83! I'm assuming I spray during lights off? Should I spray with 1/2 dose fox farm grow big AND cal mag? I also have Big Bloom, which I've only used twice

No worries mate!
1-2 times a day towards the end of lights off or just as lights come on, you don't want to leave them too moist during lights off. I haven't had any light burn problems with spray though since using LED lights, any time during lights on seems to work without issue.

1/2 or 1/4 Str to start, Fox Farm Grow and CalMg will be good. Do you use any beneficial bacteria at all?

Be sure to spray the underside of the leaves too . the mister and smaller the droplets of water you can get the easier it is for the plant to absorb.

You gonna need more scrog area! Haha.
I underestimated my first scrog, but I think you'll find with those larger northern lights type strains, one well grown plant can nearly fill a 4x4.

Coco is the way to go, you have the control over what goes in, is nearly impossible to overwater and makes transplants easy. Coco is very forgiving to new growers, and cheap as chips.

Is the issue you are talking about the fading / yellowing of the older growth or the sudden burning of leaf edge / tips?

I'll try moving my light up some more, it's at 16" now.. I'm running 2 papaya seeds from Nirvana and a freebie that's already looking frosty. They are in a 2X4x5 foot tent under a 450w viparspectra LED. Running a homemade exhaust with temps reaching a high of 81, at the top of plants, to a low of 68. Humidity as high as 60 with lights out at night and a low of 40. Feeding fox far nutes every other water at 3/4 strength.

That's good news for Viparspectre, I'm interested in trying them out, Mars Hydro is my go to for now.

I keep my powerful LED around 24" away from plant top, it's an older 700w MHydro. Anything closer seems to cause leaf crinkle and slight bleaching.

The leaf damage won't bounce back, but it should cease to spread if it's the light.

I am in seek of ideals I am growing a strain that is notorious for breaking branches so this is my problem it won't stop breaking branches I'm running out of ways to tie her up hold her up and support her in any way short of using a tomato cage so if anybody has any read of ideals on how to support every single Branch before it snaps again please help

These are AR15 gas tube cleaners they are 16 inches long they are soft but strong I cut pieces and use for lst. Hook one end to the main stem the other to the branch? Might be able to buy the same stuff on a roll.
