Ask Us Anything: Sharing Knowledge 420 Style

can you share some info with us newer growers about LST and other methods to manipulate the way our plants grow ?
I had seen some very unique techniques that i woukd have never thought to do .
I will say lst and hst are a beauty in the eye of the beholder type thing. The plants are alot more pliable then you think and if you squeeze and warm them up will bend fairly easy and if something happens and it breaks 9 out of 10 times they will heal on their own.

I use pipe cleaners and just try to envision what I want my plant structure to be. Like sculpting a bonsai tree.... just spread your limbs to keep them out of each others way and to keep the canopy at even levels. Once you start you should be able to picture the structure and carefully do some pruning to remove suckers that you think will never amount to anything substantial just to increase the energy into the colas that you think have the most potential for bud development. Once you try a couple times and get use to it you will feel more comfortable

Either that or take a clone let it root and put it under 12/12 and see how it does. If you have the extra space or room that is.
I read an interesting article today in a certain grow magazine today and this guy always starts his seeds at 12/12 for the first 30 days or until signs of sex then switched to 18/6. He said during seedling stage the plants are not ready to mature yet so when you switch them to 18/6 its not really like they are revegging and they get a growth spurt and veg without missing a beat.

The article was interesting to say the least. I may try it on my next run. If u don't need to wait for them to basically reveg I think that will save valuable time. The part about the first few weeks being seedling stage and not really 100% veg made sense to me

I start with 1/4 strength AN Sensi also voodoo juice, piranha and tarantula. I start with the second or third watering. Yours will be fine.
They look so young they prob really dont need nutes yet. The cotyledons didnt even fall yet. Whats your opinion on giving seedlings nutes

It definitely seams logical. I too hope for more clarity! Thanks for sharing this.

It will work a friend of mine does that. I was going to do that on my photo grow as a secret/ revealing but you mentioned it so lol

I watered 2-3 days in coco then started feeding 1/4 strength, at 1 week i transfered to the Aero buckets at 1/4 strength. Im a little over 1/4 now.

They should keep them going until the cotylodon is used up, ive just always started early. Remember with hydro or soiless medium there are no nutes so your banking on the cotylodons to do a lot thats first week.
