Ase's Perpetual Fun With Coco

Day 76 Flower Tent B - Day 8 Flower Tent A

I know for sure I will be heading to take down at least one of the remaining two girls in Flower Tent B after I'm done writing this. I'm going to pull the Lemon Venom for sure. If I feel good or if it goes faster than I think it will I might start on the Cinderella99. Some of the colas of all the girls were supporting each other in the middle of the tent. Since the other two are gone the Lemon Venom and Cinderella99 just had each other to lean on. Last night I had leaned them up on each other and this is what I walked into today! Lol! I even turned off one of the fans so it wouldn't blow them around as much. So much for that. Either way these will likely be the last two pictures you see of these two. They won't make a good picture when I get them out of the tent so no before and after shots with these two.

The scary part for me right now is day 8-15 is usually when I get the most stretch. These girls in the other tent are getting to be big and bushy already and I don't even think I've hit aggressive stretch mode yet. I usually heavily defoliate after stretch and that has worked well for me so far but this time I am going to be very selective on what I take off. I am kind of trying something different just to see the results. Either way I won't have to worry about touching them for another week. The potential of these girls has me grinning. I've spotted white hairs on the Blue Dream, Super Iced Grapefruit and Crown Royale. The Green Crack is behind a bit and waiting to confirm that one as female.

This last picture is for you Newty! On my Blue Dream I have a few big fan leaves that have 11 on them!

Whew... finally made it through your journal. I need to go back and try to get a more clear picture on how the photo's were quadlined so I understand it better. I like the idea. I am going perpetual at the end of summer so I do not want to scrog.

There are some great ways to build a screen that attaches to the container for ease of use! But I also like the nature of the quadline. My plant in veg is almost a quadline kind of. Hoping when I get her moved to the tub I can do a nice training and defol let her go a week then flip.

Beautiful buds ase! Nothing better than hanging with your buds eh?

Yeah I'm sure there is a lot of duplicate information. It's a lot of pages nowadays! Hope you learned a thing or two.

To quadline : Top at the 4th node. Leave the 3rd node and take away nodes 1 and 2. That leaves 4 branches (2 per node). When they get big enough pin those 4 branches down horizontally with stakes or velcro. Keep them pinned down all the way to the edge of the pot then let them grow vertical from there for a week (still pinned down but all the exposed nodes will grow vertical) and then flip! Keep them pinned until the plant stops growing and starts fattening (or just leave them pinned the whole time).

Also when you pin them down don't quite pin them down 100% vertical. Leave them angling upward at a very slight angle. I also don't pin down the 3rd nodes branches until they have reached the the same vertical height as node 4 when it's pinned down. That way each branch is even with each other.

The smell of freshly cut ganja almost make me nauseous. It's weird but I don't do much hanging out with the stuff I just cut. I have to take breaks when trimming due to it too. But I am really excited to start jarring some of it up and trying some samples!

Thanks for the summary. There is a lot of information and pages to this journal. lol I am going to start vegging out this next run in early February and am anxious to give it a try.

I have seen those and have tossed around various ways to make individuals but it still seems like a hassle to me if you can get results like Ase got I would be plenty content with 70% of that at some point. I also am not too concerned with overall yield as much as I am quality. I also know I am never doing 6 plants in a 4 x 4 ever again as well.... lesson learned there.

If I am not lazy I am supposed to take all of my coco from my last two grows and rinse it tonight (feeling pretty lazy though). That would also be a good time to transplant the girls I have in the seedling tent. After that I will top and start to quadline so I'll try to get a post with pictures together when I do it for ya.

Another nice harvest, congrats once again Ase!

I hear you on chopping - I find if I brush my exposed arms against trichomes, it gets irritated like I’m allergic. It happens in the second half of flower too, Kushy Kushy and Chocolope were both bad for it. Cured bud has no such effect, and I have no allergic type reaction when vaping / smoking / eating either.

My wife helped me chop one of my Big Foots the other week and we were both amazed and commenting on how powerful the odour /fumes were.. My eyes were stinging badly by the end of it and it was actually somewhat unpleasant after half an hour or so, not quite nausea but getting there I hate to admit! And I am someone who looooves the smell of weed like a fiend! Ah well no pain no gain right?

I told someone today that trimming is by far my least favorite thing to do and doesn't give me a lot to look forward too either. You don't really get to enjoy the product because it has to dry and cure and it's also the start of a grind to get ready for the next round of girls. So that means trimming, drying, deep cleaning my tent, cleaning out all my pots, reusing my coco and hydroton (getting all the roots out and washing it), recharging my coco and then the actual transplant (first world problems right?). Make sure all the equipment is running and set for veg and off we go! Luckily I have a pretty cool girlfriend and she likes to trim so it at least makes it go a lot faster and less time where my face has to be right in it. I've gotten headaches during trimming before and I already have terrible neck and back problems so the quicker the better for me!

I must be a clumsy fool because I can't seem to trim sitting down, so I end up standing there and my back does not approve either! My wife trims probably 30 percent faster than I and does just as good a job if not better.
How do you get the roots out of the coco? Or vice versa? Lol.. I looked at mine after last grow with an eye to reuse it but it was a complete solid chunk, I whacked it on the deck a few times and it had no effect so I tossed them.

I use my larger of the two drain tables that catch my runoff. Fill it halfway with water and swish them around and it breaks free. Before that I take the larger roots that I can get to out and then let it swirl in the water. If I run my fingers across the top gently you will feel a layer of coco and all these roots on top. The roots seem to want to float a bit but the coco holds them down. It makes it fairly easy to groom and get most of the roots out. Swirl it around a couple times and let it settle to bring the roots to the top of the coco and you'll get most of everything you need out. I also wash it a couple times to make sure the old salts are out. If I didn't have that big drain table (or something like a large plastic storage tub) then it would be far less feasible.
