Ase's Perpetual Fun With Coco

Congrats on getting the Ice down - it's looking great. The babies are all doing well too. I've always counted veg days from when I planted the seed, didn't realize people counted from when they came up rather than when they went in, which is crazy considering how many journals I've followed.

16 oz is a big number - what's your record? My 8.89 from the fall is etched into my conscience now - I'm going to shoot for 10 myself, but I think 12 is doable even on this grow for me.

13.89 off of 4 plants is my record. One of my plants always is short or smaller and that was the case with that grow too. So I figure If I can get 4 girls that are all the same then I'd get it. The Jock Horror was a shorty this time but it filled out really nice. Looks like the Green Crack will be that way with the recent flip. Probably growing 4 different strains all the time doesn't help my odds either but I like having the 4 different strains to smoke.

The more options to smoke is what drives my desire to grow different strains. I think even if I found an absolute favorite.....I would still grow out 3 additional strains along with that favorite each grow.

Yeah and then if you go down the rabbit hole a little more you have all sorts of different genetics within each strain. The mind begins to shut down when you start trying to calculate all the possibilities. Pretty much endless.

So did you give your training technique the name Quadlining?

I did. At the time when I first joined mainlining and fluxing were big all over these forums. I wanted to do something that took less time in veg and combined those techniques with 4 way LST and came up with quadlining.

I guess I don't see the difference. What you're doing has been around for a really long time. It's been published by Ed Rosenthal and Jorge Cervantes.

The difference is that I think they leave all 4 nodes on lower from where they topped. I top at the 4th node, leave the 3rd node but remove the 1st and the 2nd. It's why it's more of a mainline. I also pin my 4 main branches down hoizontal, causing the hormones to tell the branches they are for support instead of just letting it grow out from there. It's really a hybrid of a lot of things but I've never seen anyone do it exactly the way I do it. I never said I reinvented the wheel but rather changed it a bit to better suit the way I like to grow and gave it a name.

Interesting.

Sorry for my comment last night wasnt appropriate i apologize ase and Stltoed.
I'm cool. I'm really not here to throw stones. I was invited by Ase. to come by and ask questions. I've done that, and got my answer. I wish all of you well and I'm sure we will see each other elsewhere. Cheers!

Yeah I had no problem with it. Didn't take offense to it either. Ultimately little things can make a big difference in the structure of a plant and I do believe that what I do is different enough to give it a name. Everything you'll see isn't going to be revolutionary or mind blowing at this point. A lot of stuff looks the same as some of the OG growers that started back in the day but I think there are ways we can take their ideas and make them better or refine them and I've felt like quadlining is just that. At least it works better for me and I figure if it's better for me than there are probably a few others that it might work better for them too.

Hey Ase, my babies are super bushy . im wondering when we trim? Another week you think? I don't want to stunt there stretch so I'm going to wait. #wwad

Somewhere between 17-21 days usually after flip. It's basically when they've stopped stretching. You'll notice the inner green fresh growth slows way down on the colas. They'll start really getting hairy and that is when a plant is entering the first real phase of flowering and during the transition is the right time to pluck. Pulling a couple really large fan leaves wouldn't really make a big deal right now either because your plants are used to being plucked and trained already from veg.

All good Pino. I think Stltoed and I think a lot alike. I am straight to the point and am very realistic. Sometimes that comes off as blunt and borderline rude but someone has to be the bad guy and stick their necks out there. I've been known to see an update and the next 10 posts are from people who are all positive and complimenting and then there is me asking about a little deficiency I see or something that seems off. I do thank you for apologizing though.

The OG guys did some very important work but indoor growing is constantly evolving and it's pretty cool to be here testing new ideas and hypotheses.
