Ase's Perpetual Fun With Coco

You will be happy with that purple envy. I have another 2 in flower now on day 10 of 12/12. Beautiful plants, chunky buds, and quite frosty as well.

I can already tell I am going to be very happy with both Purple strains. They are both growing so nice right now. I saw your purple envy and it made me very excited that they were added in to my prize. Beautiful, thick and frosty? What more could you want?

Any early favourites to go into your next run, Ase?

My options are (all Fems and all Photoperiods)
Critical Cheese (Dinafem)
Panama (Ace)
Ice (Nirvana)
Black Jack (Nirvana)
Jock Horror (Sativa)
Anubis (Pyramid)
Lemon Venom (Cream of the Crop)
Cinderella 99 (G-13)
Honeysuckle (Advanced)

I also have duplicates of pretty much everything I have already grown that was a photo plant except the ones I currently have in flower but I am still trying new strains out. All of the one's listed above I don't have duplicates of either. When I find the 4 main strains I want to run all the time I will purchase those again and start cloning if I don't have duplicates of them. Looks like I've got 2 more grows of new seeds before I will decide on the 4 that I will run. I want to give each strain a shot and it's been fun trying new stuff all the time. If someone made me choose today I would choose the Critical Cheese, Lemon Venom, Cinderella 99 and likely the Black Jack. I always like to have one Nirvana seed in my grows.

I always try to do two Indicas and two Sativas that way I have two stretchier plants and two bushier plants and can adjust my lights accordingly. With two lights it makes it nice. Part of the reason I have my setup the way I do. It would have been cheaper to buy the 4x4 light instead of two lights that cover 2x4 but I wouldn't have been able to adjust it if one side got too tall and the smaller plants would suffer from not enough light. It was worth it for me to spend the extra money to have options and not be limited.

I've had pretty good luck with stuff from Nirvana. Nirvana White Rhino is amazing. I also had pretty good luck with Chemdawg by HSO. Those two will likely be in my final 4 as they were great yielders for me and the quality was top notch. Still on the search for 2 more and likely leaning towards a sativa dominant strain and one of the purple's I am currently growing but you never know! The list could change fast if I find 4 that are better in that time!

Veg Day 37 - Flower Day 55

The Veg girls got a pretty heavy defoliation and training session this morning. I might set the veg tent to 12/12 for a week or two to get them going and then move them into the real flower tent when it's open. I haven't decided. I also decided already at this point to get rid of any branches trying to go from the undersides of the main stems. This is different as before I would wait to see if they could catch up but they never seem to with the way I train. Every other node usually has this problem. Just not wasting my time with those. The 3 girls that look really good I pretty much don't want to add anymore colas. I'll let them grow vertical from here until flip.

Lost Coast OG - Still smaller than the others but seems to be moving along fine. This is about the time "little Jack" started kicking it into high gear so maybe we will see the same here. Right now seems to be about a week behind the others or so.

Cali OG - I'm pretty happy with this girl so far considering all she has been through. You can see it's getting a little more even and the training seems to be working to get the 4 main branches. This one is a little bit of an experiment for me now to see how it will turn out.

Purple Kush - This girl has been growing vigorously. Both of the purple's have. I went a little too hard today and the middle of the plant split at the top. I duct taped it back together and it will be fine. This is not my first time having to do that but doesn't seem to slow the plants down much that I've accidentally done this too. I think it's because they have always been in aggressive veg and I think you can get away with an awful lot if the plant is growing that fast.

Purple Envy - Saving the best so far for last. The purples are neck and neck but she wins by a little bit. Probably my best trained plant. I always get one that shines more than the others, or at least is more symmetric.

The flower tent is swimming along. I should start checking trichs but I would guess I have 10-14 days left. Likely a few big feeds and then flushing.

Looking good Ase. :thumb:

I really like Purple Envy. I should be getting 5 more beans. Then I will do a run of just PE and clone them.

I think I have 2 beans left of the Purple Envy. I think it's basically just up against the Purple Kush to see which one takes the cake for when I start cloning as well. I'd love to do a whole run of them but then I'd be stuck smoking the same strain for a long time and I grow to avoid dispensaries. I keep having talks of a 3rd tent and if I upgrade again I'd probably have one tent for all the same and one that had 4 different ones. Having 3 tents would be perfect for constantly having stuff ready to go. We will see if I pull the trigger on that one. Harvesting basically every 5 weeks seems like a lot of work.

Hi Ase,
I practically ran here, slide tackled Pat out of my seat, right up next to PW. Sorry Pat make it up to you with a hug. I'm going to read from the beginning now so I can get caught up. I'm in between journals right now in order to get back on the learning track. Very interested in learning the soccer way you introduced me too. ;) Intriguing. I'll be back after I do my homework and get caught up. :thanks:

Veg Day 39

The 3 vigorous girls are ready to be flipped. The Lost Coast OG is just not getting all that big. It is very condensed. I decided that I will likely flip these this weekend and the only way to get the colas I wanted would be to top it instead of continuing to spread it out and see if it will catch stride like the others. I've never done a 2nd topping before so this should be interesting. Something I've wanted to try as an option instead of heavy LST and training for plants that stay more compact. I will not be spreading any of the girls out any further. At this point they will just grow vertical.

Very happy with the 3 big girls, especially that the Cali OG (top left) is looking symmetric with that funky training I did. It is about even with the Purple Kush (bottom left) and the Purple Envy (bottom right). Purple Envy might have just a slight edge still but not by much.

Welcome aboard G2HM! I believe our paths have crossed on Kingston's old thread. Have not seen the Rabbi in a while. Pat also seems to have disappeared recently. Either way this are my methods and schedules and a couple people have used them and seemed to have had healthy plants the whole way. I've only been at this for about 15 months, so I don't have a ton of experience, but I do love science and growing things (I have outdoor fruit/vegetable gardens that I get just excited about). I did a ton of research and came up with this style as the best for me. As I always say, If you have any questions feel free to ask. Good to have you along!

They look the same size but the PE looks fuller.

Yeah I should post a sideshot so you can see height from now on as I am not stretching them out anymore so they aren't going to look any wider. However they are starting to grow vertical now and I am keeping them tied down, like a flux.

Edited: Sideshot. The 3 bigger girls all about the same, even height.

Had a second smoke of that purple envy last night. That stuff is crazy strong. Spaces me out. Don't like that feeling, although I'm sure others will.

Would that be a slight out of body feeling? I am so happy with it so far in veg. I think it's going to do very well. The summer is ending and temps will go down a bit. My area has been a few degrees higher than I typically like but with Autumn coming the Purple Envy should finish in almost ideal conditions.

Thats what i thought, and still getting all spaced out in the head?

Well Blaze was the one saying that so he can speak to that but Sativa's are what typically give me energy and make me focused. As my friend would say it's "Ideal for gaming" and he does some serious team based gaming. Gotta be quick and not miss your shots or orders. A difference of a second could be winning or losing so he always has a heavy sativa handy.

Indica's are what typically veg me out and make me spacey as well. More of the traditional stoner high with munchies and "psychedelic dude!" I have plenty of friends who also say the opposite. I think in the end strains effect people differently and that's really the beauty of this wonderful medicine.
