Ase's Perpetual Fun With Coco

Thanks Anna! Are you growing in two 4x4 tents? 8 girls in 5 gallon buckets seems like a lot. For coco I love the 3 gallon air pots.
My Veg Tent: 1.2m X 1.2m
Flower tent: 2m x 2m.
I grew 8 Veg this time cos I figured 2 plants per light and 2 per square/meter. I've got the BibBud Veg Girls in 10l Autopots. And given your query on the 5 gallon bags, I've filled them up only 75% full of Coco.
Thanks again, Ase! reps+

Oops.. I meant BiGBuds and I think they're called Airpots, not Autopots! The ones with the bobbly bits on the outside. The ad reckons a 10 litre Airpot is the same as a 20 litre ordinary pot, in effect. I wanted to do a side by side comparison; hence the bigger fabric pots for the 47xtrms.

Side by sides are a great way to see comparisons. Sounds like everything you are doing is right for the space you have. I was going to say if you only had a 1.2 x 1.2 for your flower as well you were going to be looking at tight spacing. Sounds like you're right on track this time.

Just got these girls in coco today. I followed the same germination method that I always do (page 1 of this journal). They all germinated once again and all have healthy taproots. They will go in the veg tent and this part was planned which is why I did Autos this time. The Autos and the new girls can all be under 18/6 light with no harm. Let the every 9 weeks cycle begin!

These healthy taproots all looked like this after about 36 hours. Dry Great White Mycorrhizae in the hole.

Lost Coast OG - Humboldt's Lost Coast OG has a long-lasting effect that's physical soothing with a relaxing, not quite couchlocking edge you'll never tire of. The flavour and aroma are equally enticing with intense notes of sweet lemon, tropical fruit and luxurious Kush. Indica-Hybrid 75/25.

Purple Envy - With a heavy Indica lean, Feminised Seeds Purple Envy has a strong, physical effect that starts off with a face-melting buzz paired with a subtle and very pleasant mental lift. The smell and taste are just as intriguing as this 100% feminized seed's good looks - sweet & grapey. Indica.

Cali OG Kush/Haze - Crop King Seeds traveled to Northern California to find a Dominant OG Kush and crossed it with our Amnesia Haze, creating a dominant uplifting Sativa and the famous characteristics you get from an OG Kush Indica. A new beauty exclusive only from “The King”. Sativa-Hybrid 70/30.

Purple Kush - Purple Kush is world renowned for its purple leaves and strong smoky taste combined with a very high THC level. The plant is short in stature with dense buds riddled with thin white and orange hairs. Purple Kush is a durable and versatile plant with frosty buds and an earthy pungent aroma that will take you on a ride outside of your body. Not quite narcotic though but it has a strong, pleasant buzz which is very relaxing and even couch locking. If you want to chill, then Purple Kush can help you.

These are all seeds I got from sponsors for my Plant of the Month winnings. Both of the Crop King Seeds strains (Cali OG and Purple Kush) sound amazing. TheBlaze grew Lost Coast OG and I've wanted to try it since. The Purple Envy has been grown by a lot of solid growers on here and most of the time with great results. I am really looking forward to these four girls.

Awesome selection of strains Ase. OldTiming Man is growing CKS Purple Kush in coco now, and took clones to grow it again when he's done, so check out his journal - the focus now is on popping his old seeds but he's still updating his current grows too.

My "guy" before I went down the legal medical road used Purple Kush for his health issues so I've had a ton of it over the years. It's a special strain for me!

I ended up getting 50 grams off of my Gorilla Glue Auto. Considering a lot of the other journals I've read that grew it, that is a really decent number. Can't wait to grow a non Gorilla Glue Auto. I would not grow this plant again as an Auto. The Cherry Bomb and Headlights both I would do again but this was way too fast and it effected things. Smells great and can't wait to smoke it. Also all 4 of the seeds I just planted have broke the surface. I will be able to get good pictures tomorrow. Good to see all the roots have taken and now it's pushing up.

These girls have a little bit of stretch in them left. The White Castle has a little more stretch left than the others and isn't budding quite yet like the other 3 are. That's a good thing in my books since it is still the smallest but not by much. I think it and the Jack Herer will be the same size and so will my other Tangerine Dream and Amnesiac. It's hard to tell in the photo but some of the larger Amnesiac colas are just barely below the Tangerine Dreams'. It is flashing more light green showing growth so in the end I do think they will be equal height. They are both inches above the sticker now. I am planning on defoliating tomorrow night. I have been waiting and wanting to do this for a while. Will get a couple good shots after it's done. Then I try not to touch them for the rest of the grow too much. Maybe a leaf here and there at most.

Starting back left going counterclockwise - White Castle, Jack Herer, Amnesiac, Tangerine Dream. Can't get the same photo angle I've been taking anymore as it cuts off the top of the plants on the right.

Auto Day 74 - Photos Flower Day 18

Well one guarantee is that this will be my last update for a couple days. I have been on an update tear but there is a lot going on and I feel like it all deserves noting. As soon as the autos finish everything will be on a good cycle again. I knew these 3 weeks would be a bit hectic. I am leaving for the weekend and I will be back in a couple days. I've got someone to look after and I just made fresh buckets of nutrients so it should be easy for them.

First off today was defoliation day in the flower tent (yay!). I finally got to open them up and get some air and light flowing through them again. I cut off a lot and I also trimmed off any little branches that just were going to be flimsy or not get enough light. Trust me it's worth it in the end to just cut your losses on the really small stuff now. Let the plant use the energy to buds that will really matter in the end. Anyways I took a before and after shot. This took me many hours and I'm glad it's over.

The Headlights is just getting plain tap water at this point. The leaves are getting a bit lighter and this plant has basically grown perfect. No real signs of problems and great looking bud. When I get back I likely will do a cola post of each plant so I'll save the close ups for then.
IMG_294516.JPG

The Cherry Bomb Auto is still slowly curling up leaves at the tip. It's got about 3 weeks left or so and I just gave it a low nutrient flush for two days and then bumped it back up today in case it was some sort of lockout. I think it'll be fine. The colas look great and healthy. I won't care what the leaves look like in the end if the bud has no problems.
IMG_294414.JPG

Lastly the babies are all up and out of the coco now. I think it was 4 days total from dry seed to sprouting. Very happy with all of them. No issues shedding the shells and getting straight towards the light unlike the Jack Herer last time. This is seedlings Day 1. Let the fun begin!

Nice job on the defoliation Ase. Will you take any more fan leaves off after this big defoliation?

Around day 45 I will try and do some cleanup of really big leaves blocking light but nothing big like this again. That's about the only day I will even likely touch them other then to feed for the rest of the grow. Every once and a while I may pull a leaf if it is being problematic and running into other colas creating pockets for moisture and mold.

Hey Ase
Your girls (young & old) are all looking awesome. I however, found 3 of my plants turning into hermies today and they're the ones who suffered the most injuries in TheTentCeilingCollapse incidents. I've binned the smallest, stripped the buds off the middle sized and removed the unopened balls off the biggest/chunkiest/stickiest. However, I'm guessing it's probably in vain and definitely not worth risking the remaining girls becoming seeded during their remaining 3 weeks? Should I kill it or just remove it and isolate it in a spare room? I don't have a grow light for it. Well, only one single bulb CFL lamp! Any suggestions? I don't recall having any hermie issues whilst growing outdoors. But then, they never got injured by the Sun falling out of the sky and landing on them...twice.

Just went in before lights out and discovered more of my beloved ladies have grown nads on their nodes. I considered throwing a tantrum but decided to go down to my pre-pubescent Veg Girls Tent and refocus all my bud (pure-female-bud) hopes upon them.. (Except the clones I took off the what are now hermaphrodites.)

Thanks Ase. Opinion seems so divided, but this seems like a good approach. I can't see down through my canopy anymore because of the fans on top, but I'm really hesitant to take any more given how much I took around day 21. I'm figuring I'll give it another week or so and then consider taking a leaf here or there to help light penetrate.

You have a great sense of humor. The whole sun falling out of the sky line cracked me up. To be honest I've never had a hermie. My feminized seeds have produced nothing but bud so I can say that I don't have a ton of experience here. I know others have said to just pick them off and continue on but it's really hard to say on this without seeing how many. It could always be genetics too since these aren't the feminized ones. If I was in your spot and there seemed to be a decent amount of nanners I would probably pick off as many as I could and then think about finishing them early.

I have done very little research and have no experience with this so maybe someone else can give you their advice that follows this thread that maybe this has happened to before. I will say that if you took clones off hermies and it was genetics and not stress then your clones will be hermies as well. Sorry Anna! Just don't have the experience here.

Really stoked about your feminized veg girls though and I hope you are too. I still think you are gonna knock it out of the park with those girls. Just keep in mind that accidents happen and things go wrong and they are all learning opportunities and not something to get down about. When you get that one grow where you knock it out of the park you will look back at these moments and be thankful you had them as much as they are a little harder to swallow when dealing with them.

Yo man it sucks about Chester. Alot of folks are upset and rightfully so, but no turning around now. Korn's guitarist saying it was selfish and all that shit, tbh I get where he is coming from, people giving him dick about how he says it. But lets face it, Chester's kids won't have a father anymore and the mom won't have a husband anymore. Guess he just wasn't happy, had to blast some LP when I got home yesterday, this is like the time we lost the vocalist for Static-x...all bands I grew up listening to....

Linkin Park was what I listened to in high school to get ready for soccer matches. He had drug problems and usually that also means mental problems. Incredible voice and will be missed. Chester's voice will always be one of my favorites.

Hey Ase
Once again, you've made me feel better. It seems even the feminized seed plants have hermied also. And most of the buds have been seeded. Even my 2.5 inch diameter colas. I've done some reading because I wondered whether I should give them long enough for the seeds to mature but some say the seeds of hermies carry the hermaphroditism gene.
Thanks for your post of positivity! And the confidence boost. I'm gonna treat the lovely, little GrowNumberTwo girls very gently and give them a stress-free life. I guess that's an advantage of a perpetual growing situation...you've always got another grow waiting in the wings, if one goes pear-shaped.
And with the support and advice of you and all the other skilful, experienced 420ites, who've been so kind and helpful - I'm feeling hopeful.
Thanks & Respect.

Autos Day 78 - Photos Flower Day 22

I am back home from seeing my family this weekend and good news to report, the guy who was doing my watering did a good job. Plants look just like they should. This is where things will really start to slow down. I know I posted a lot in a row before I left but to me it was warranted to show the stretch. Now these girls will just stack and get fatter. Although that is a fun part for most people, I really enjoy being hands on and constantly training. Flower time really means hands off time for me so I'll just sit back and watch. Probably not much I am really going to do now that they are 3 weeks in. In a few weeks I might defoliate a little more and throughout I might pull a leaf or two but really the structure is set and it's the plants turn to do the work and fatten up. Deficiencies and problems start to really show in the next week or two so I will pay extra attention, but a lot of what happens now really depends on your feeding schedule and not your green thumb. It's a real test of patience with me every time.

The White Castle in the back left is still showing a little new green. I think it's pretty much stopped now though. Looks to be about a week behind the other girls in terms of the bud production but I've seen plants catch back up quick. The other 3 look about the same and I am starting to see a lot of bright white hairs. I think they will stack nicely.
IMG_300216.JPG

The colas on the Cherry bomb Auto are about as tall as a nutrient bottle. They need to get fatter but it's still got a while left to go. The leaves are curling up still and I think it's due to heat and being a little close to my lights but it's manageable. It still doesn't seem to be effecting the actual bud itself. As long as that is the case I am okay with it.
IMG_299716.JPG

The colas on the headlights are bursting right now. The leaves are yellowing from the flushing and it is finishing great. So happy with this plant. I will be chopping it down in the next couple days.
IMG_299822.JPG

The babies all look healthy and happy. It won't be too long before they reside in their final homes. All of them have multiple roots coming out of the bottom already.
