Ase's Perpetual Fun With Coco

Day 69 Autos - Day 13 Flower Photos

The Cherry Bomb and the Headlights are all that are left in the veg tent. The Gorilla Girl ideally could have gone a couple more days but I am gone for the weekend and it was either pull now and jar right before I leave or pull late. I decided to go for it as the trichs are all milky and just a few are amber. More sativa-ish plants I'd rather the amber be a little less than a little more.

Gorilla Glue last picture - Nugs were dense but it just wasn't a big plant. I'm guessing somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.25 oz is what it will yield. Lets see if I get close to that guess.

I need to start seeds today or tomorrow. For now the Headlights and Cherry Bomb are enjoying the extra space.

Headlights - Probably 2 full weeks out on her. All of the trichs are clear still.

The flower tent I think is growing at about 2 inches per day. The White Castle had fan leaves just blocking everything on the top. It was like the leaves were stretching as much as the stems. I decided to defoliate and expose everything in the middle. Usually I wouldn't recommend doing that but I felt like it really needed the light or none of those node under the fan leaves were going to do much of anything. I did all that yesterday and today everything was fresh green and perky. Hopefully she recovers fast and keeps stretching a bit.

This was a fun filled start to the weekend for me and I know it's been a lot of updates but lots of things happening. There will be times when it's slower I'm sure... maybe ;)

Friday Night Bake Session

A little impromptu edible baking night for me but I got a gallon of coconut oil in the mail and decided it was a good time to test out my Magical Butter machine I won for POTM. First off let me start by saying if there is anything I am more into than growing it's cooking. The fact I can take trim and turn it into something yummy and potent is the most ideal thing for my world. It combines the best of both worlds. I do intend on sharing recipes and ideas throughout this journal. Like Autos, edibles aren't really my jam but I am working to perfect them and maybe someday I can make them exactly how I want them.

In the past I have made lots of edibles using shake and stems and basically degraded junk that my friends saved. I used bubble bags and keifed it using dry ice. I then would take the kief and just put it in candies and recipes. I did make butter from time to time with cheesecloth and a crock put and have had some success. All in all edible always make me tired. I've had a few times where I have gone way overboard and been higher than ever but I rarely get the nice inbetween that. I would like to eat one or two and get high like if I smoked a bowl for a couple hours and I know its possible so it's my mission to figure out edibles.

This Magical Butter machine is awesome. Since I will be using tinctures, butters and oils in all sorts of foods it's nice it has settings for all them. It also auto mixes and stays at a consistent temperature which is really important. This time I used just the bud from the Ayahuasca plants. It is not degraded and it's all one strain. The Magical Butter machine also makes it easy to do all one strain because if only have a certain amount of trim you can adjust the recipe for it and it can handle it. Since I don't know my THC % on my Ayahuasca's I can't begin to figure out the real potency but here is the recipe I used.

3 cups coconut oil
41g good Ayahuasca trim (Kept in ideal conditions just like the bud since trim)
1/2 cup cocoa powder
4 Tablespoons honey
2 tsp vanilla extract

This is so easy with the machine. I put the oil and honey in a pyrex bowl and heated in the microwave just for 20 seconds to loosen it up. I then whipped it (I actually use an emulsifier) for 1 or 2 minutes so it stayed together. Next I put in the cocoa powder and vanilla and whipped for another 30 seconds. Put in the machine and set for oil. Strained using provided bag and then poured into molds, put into freezer and waited 20 minutes to harden. Easy as that!

MagicButter Machine and gear
IMG_288514.JPG

Oil it made - put in fridge and starting to harden like coconut oil again which is just fine. Used some for the chocolate otherwise this was almost a full jar.
IMG_288812.JPG

Chocolates - Taste a little like MJ but in a pleasant way and the chocolate just flakes and melts in your mouth due to coconut oil. Plus they are healthy. The middle is soft and moist as well. These came out so good for my first time ever making them!
IMG_288711.JPG

Also to finish with some of the other sponsors gifts. The bubbler and bowl piece I got using the gift certificate from Water-bongs-glass-pipes website. Both work great!

IMG_289013.JPG

The dab pen from VaporWarehouse I have used a lot. I don't have a dab rig but this thing is awesome for being discreet. The pen itself really does a great job and hits well. There is no smell at all and I am using it way more than I thought I would instead of bringing flower to places in public. Shows, events, sports games. I've always had a gripe about pens because they never can get me that high but this one has. Granted I'm using wax and it's super expensive so it better but nice to have and was a really nice surprise. I need to learn to make wax now. That will be on the docket this year at some point.

I will be planting 4 seeds all from the POTM orders for my next grow. Purple Envy, Purple Kush, Lost Coast OG and Cali OG Kush/Haze. Thanks again to all the sponsors for your support! It's allowing me to do some really fun things right now.
If you want something nice for the day try these. They come in hybrid, sativa. And indica strains

Ase both your tents are looking so sweet!! I'm going to have to go back thru your earlier posts to get some tips on training the 8 girls in my Veg Tent. If I get a pic during the week, I'd be super grateful for your suggestions?
Oh and your GG is really beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing the buds after harvest! Respect.

Yeah of course! The smell on the GG is amazing. I can't wait to get it jarred up so I can start to smell the other plants. It is so overpowering you can't really smell anything else in my area. I'd love to see photos and I'd be happy to help when you are ready. I take it you still haven't made the jump to journaling yet?

Journaling? Well..today I stupidly grabbed a pole in my Flower Tent to help me up from my little nute mixing chair and all the ceiling poles collapsed with the 4 lights and 2 inline exhausts landing on my girls. Snapped at least 6 of my biggest colas - all more than 1' long. So considering that's the 2nd time that's happened in 2 weeks...I don't think I'm ready to document my grows yet!
Having seen your flowering plants and all the other experienced and skilful growers' plants, I've realised my Xmas tree shaped girls won't yield even close to what they could. So for GrowNumberTwo, currently in Veg Tent, I'm hoping you (and anyone else following your terrific journal) could give me some suggestions for training them. If it's not too late!

I've included a couple of pics from a few days ago of some of the Flower Tent girls. I've only planted 8 girls in the Veg Tent this time cos the Flower Tent is too crowded and with differente pots, strains, ages....A mess really!
So how should I train the new girls, do you reckon? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Oh and also, the 47xtrm's are going to be transplanted into 5 gallon fabric pots. Should that be done now or when they're closer to being rootbound? Not that I know what the roots look like but I've been using H&G Roots Excelurator and Great White, so I'm hoping they have worked!

You'll have to excuse me but I laughed pretty hard when I read the first sentence of this response. I have done and seen many things similar to this situation. Lucky for me I didn't cause too much damage when one of my lights came loose in my first grow but I've read so many journals where that has happened so don't feel alone! Just a bummer when it happens. They are plants, they will bounce back. Maybe it's time to not do anything near your tents and you won't be tempted to grab the poles? Food for thought. I'm pretty stubborn and routine so I know I usually will do the same habits over and over. Sometimes I have to change my whole methodology of doing something because I know I won't be able to break the habits I've developed. I can't just tell myself "stop doing that", it doesn't work.

My methodology for training starts when they are really young. I moved them to their final pots about 10 days from seed (This journal page 4-5). I then top them when they have recovered from transplant which is a couple days later. At that point I let them grow for another few days and then tie them down. With that being said, you are likely in the range to start all this being about 2 weeks in.

I have some questions and I will give some suggestions but I want to make sure I have all the details. Since you don't have a journal I would hate for any mistakes to be made and sometimes my memory of people and their plants gets mixed with each other.

I believe you said you are using feminized seeds only this time right?
Are the Autos or Photos?
Are they 14 days old from seed?
What is your grow space?
Is it all indoor or some outdoor?
What is your goals?
Do you have a time limit to hit or can you grow at your own leisure?
Have you tried any sort of training before?

I would definitely do your transplanting. It's a little hard to tell but it looks like they are in starter cubes? I've never really used those but if you are using those root enhancers they should be ready. I would wait a day or two after that and then top them. Get some soft ties or something and start pulling the branches horizontal a couple days after that (This can be done a number of ways but if you are using hard pots you can drill a hole and just use soft string to pull the branches apart). I use U-stakes for outdoor gardening. Page 6 in this journal shows where I put the stakes and how I pull them apart. I don't think I'd recommend that for you though because they have already grown pretty vertical. Your method is going to have to be more of a use a tie to pull them apart rather than pin them down with a stake.

P.S. Everyone wants to have a journal that is nice and everything goes great and there is no problems. It just rarely happens that way. A lot of journals are done so experienced people can watch and help by keeping an eye on them. A lot of people with the knowledge can tell a lot of things just by seeing the plants (deficiencies, heat problems... etc). When you post what you do people can read it and help correct it, whereas if you are just asking questions on threads it might be too late :(. This 420 Magazine community is all about trying to help people get better rather than make fun of people for mistakes. Don't feel like not doing one because of embarrassment. You won't find people looking to do that here. (Journal rant off, eventually I will get you to fold).

Autos Veg Week 3 Day 7 - Photos Veg Week 2 Day 7

The autos are 28 days from sprout and are ending veg week 3. There is now hairs on all 3 of them and today is likely the last day I will train them any further. Part because I am all the way out to the end of the pot and part because they are going to start flower soon.

The photos are 21 days from sprout and are ending veg week 2. I topped the Jack Herer yesterday morning as I feel like it finally was starting to get its stride. The new growth from topping is coming in fast already. It's a ways behind the others in size but I think it will work out in the end. Might have to veg it a week longer than the others. The other 3 I took the huge fan leaves off of so they look smallish but they are growing like crazy and will be starting to be trained in the next couple days.

I took some pure coco that was treated and filled in the tops of all the pots. This will allow a little more room to the surface for the roots to grow. I was already starting to see some get to the surface. The roots are all strong and white. I'm loving the root enhancers I am using. They are making a huge difference this time.

Autos Day 71 - Photos Flower Day 15

The stretching and stacking continues. Right now no plants need training or are in the range to defoliate for me so no new news. Just pictures. I did germinate my 4 new girls for next girl yesterday. Today the seeds had sort of cracked but no root yet. Likely they will tonight and I will get them in their first homes tomorrow.

The Veg tent/Auto tent is still going strong. The Headlights seemed to be a little fatter then I remember today and the stacking continues for the Cherry Bomb.

IMG_291422.JPG

Headlights is going strong. Really happy with her. Looking forward to smoking this too, the bud just looks great.

IMG_291617.JPG

The flower tent is a jungle. There isn't much room left at all for anything to grow wider. I like how this is truly the first time I have filled up my entire tent. Even with the 5 Aurora Indica's on my first run ever I still had plenty of gaps. Then with the ScrOG nets I didn't quite fill them out all the way (well I did but they ended up being males ). So pretty cool with just some stakes and my training method that I was able to do that this time. Hopefully every time from here on out as well.

Jack Herer is now in the left front position. Amnesiac is still stretching impressively and trying to get up to the Tangerine Dreams height. Either way they will be my two tallest so they need to be on the same side so I can adjust the lights if need be. The White Castle is showing a lot of fresh green and no budding quite yet and the others seem to just be starting. Just a couple days left of stretch for them.

IMG_291214.JPG

Trying to hit the same picture to show stretch. I think I've been getting pretty close.

Ase...thanks SO SO much! i was a bit down in the dumps before I read your posts this morning. Very sweet of you. And my Veg girls are photo, fems, 2 weeks from germination and now that you've given me some clear suggestions, I'm feeling way more hopeful for GrowNumberTwo. My Flowering girls (BigBud xxl's,Chinook Haze, Nice Chunk, GG Allins have about 3-4 weeks to go so I'll be needing to Veg the new ones for at least that much longer. Perhaps best to veg for however long it'll take to train them sufficiently.
Thanks again, Ase. Respect.

Oh wow...I just saw your latest Flowering Girls pics!!! They're really amazing. You've got some serious green thumbs, Ase. :cheertwo:

Thanks Anna! Are you growing in two 4x4 tents? 8 girls in 5 gallon buckets seems like a lot. For coco I love the 3 gallon air pots.

beautiful, healthy girls. You're still going from strength to strength. May your run never end. :thumb:

Great work bud.

Man! Those are some beautiful plants Ase .

Thanks Suntana! I'm pretty happy right now. Now the waiting game for yield begins. Lets hope for some fat colas on these beautiful girls!

beautiful, healthy girls. You're still going from strength to strength. May your run never end. :thumb:

I hope your right Blaze. I had beginners luck on grow #1 and have tried to just keep getting better every time. We'll see how this run turns out but so far it looks like it should be my best run yet. No errors on the photos at all so far and no nute burn. Basically it's been a near perfect run for me. Anxious to see the end result and see if all this hard work and upgrades pay off. Even though I got good results last run, if I end up with the same numbers in the end I won't be too happy.

I had better training, a better nute schedule and additives which I was able to use in veg. I didn't have any of that last time. Plus a light upgrade so I have two Mars Hydro Reflector 144s instead of just one. This run should be better and then I'll look back and see what to do differently. So far if I had a choice I'd just do everything the exact same again next time, I really haven't had things go wrong this time. Lets hope the rest of the grow goes that way! I also typically have one girl that doesn't do so well in all my other grows and it looks like all 4 will be healthy this time too. All things pointing to better results, hopefully.

Ya know I really never thought of actually weighing them. That would be something interesting to see. Maybe I'll do that with my next grow.

Please do
