Ase's Multi-Strain Quadlining In Coco

Yeah I have to give @newty all the credit for the #quadsquad in the signature thing. At first it was pretty much just for fun but it has caught the eye of many people now. It ended up being a cool thing to lead growers to try training, both new and old. You'd be surprise at how many people just flat out don't train their plants and are willing to give it a shot now. Anyways I welcome you aboard and I'm glad to have you here. As soon as you start attempting quadlining, throw a #Quadsquad up and I'm sure you will attract a grip of people to your thread. We quadsquad members tend to travel in a herd to a new quadlining thread.

You are very welcome for the information and the help. Nothing pleases me more than to see new people succeed To think in any way, shape or form that I helped is the reason I stick around these forums. The best part of the #Quadsquad is that there are so many different growers who use all sorts of grow mediums and different nutrients. You are bound to find someone you like that does it exactly like how you want to do it.

Can't wait to see a #Quadsquad in another signature soon!

Day 1 Veg

A week in the books and seedling week is over. I am very happy where everything is currently at and the plants are starting get growing fast. During the seedling week I probably water about every other day and about the end of it I start watering the plants on the daily. If you want to see more about a feed schedule I use you can go to the very beginning of this journal on page 1. The roots have reached the bottom of every single plant and they will be ready for a transplant this weekend.

The DTF #1 is still ahead as it should be for starting a couple days early. The Purple Trainwreck is not as tall as the Tangerine Dream but it is more developed now and I'm wondering how much growth I will get out of this thing. If it keeps up at this rate it will pass the DTF #1 this week. I can't wait to get my hands on them but for now I will just let them grow. I'm seeing a lot of light green growth in the middles because they are growing fast now and once they kick it into high gear, you just want to do everything you can to let them stay there. That way their first defoliation and topping won't take as long to recover. It will also help with recovery speed from transplanting. This element is key to quadlining. If you try to do things that cause stress while the plants aren't healthy it increases recovery time to get the plant out of shock. You never want to do too many things at once so the plant never really slows down. Rather do things here and there so the plant gets a couple days in between to just grow. The plants end up being like the youngest of 3 brothers. He's gotten picked on and pushed around his whole life but in the end he's the toughest one and can take dings without even flinching. You never really stop "dinging" up the plant until the plants are in full flower mode. This way the plants are used to it early on and adapt to a rougher lifestyle. They may envy non trained plants but in the they will be much bigger yielders and have a much better structure than a non trained plant.

I’m very excited that you are starting new quadline tent/plants right now. I just put seeds in the dirt today, so hopefully I’m just enough behind yours. :D I’ll be following/copying along! #quadsquadjrleague

I think I'm the most excited to get back to quadlining. I've missed doing it and in a way I've just been growing to grow right now. Seeing these little ones has been awesome since it's been quite a while that I actually started from seed and won't have any space or timeframe issues. I just tried to do too much at once and things got a little out of hand, at least for me they did. I really like things nice and even and spaced right and my last couple grows were far from that imo.

The Other Stuff

If you've read the revamp intro a couple pages back you know my focus will be on mainly training. However the plants in my other tent weren't really trained so I don't want to feature them much here. I'm not even really sure what day they are on anymore but the two Indicas will be coming down in a couple weeks and it looks like the Durban Poison will go a week or two past these other ones. I guess the Durban Poison got a little super-cropping and they were all topped like I would to start a quadline, just nothing else happened to them so i'm ready to get through these and start my Tangerine Dream in one 4'x4' tent grow.

Durban Poison. Imagine a plant like this crossed with one of the ATFs I grew. That's what DTF is. I feel like I am really going to have to wrestle them to keep them even with everything else I have going. I'm looking forward to the challenge but it's good I grew an ATF and a Durban Poison before growing a Durban Thunderf*ck. I should be well prepared. I need to stake up this Durban before it really start packing on weight though or I'll have more branches like the one that has fallen over.

Honeysuckle. Smallest of the bunch and super dense nugs. I've used this term before on a couple other plants I've grown but very much like golf balls. Both it and the Aurora Indica would be flopping on the floor if all the colas weren't tied up. This is a prime example of when you keep something in a pot too long and it when it gets into a new pot it starts growing like crazy. I flipped these right after transplant too so they grew and really didn't have much time to harden. They just have no support this way which I why I'm excited to get back to quadlining. The flopping and having to add support nets and all that just isn't my cup of tea.

Aurora Indica. I'm very excited to try this again as this was the first strain I had ever grown and wanted to do it justice. I think I have another seed but it is going to be quality stuff. It and the Honeysuckle won't yield more than a couple zips though and I shoot to get 4 zips a plant. Often times it goes north of that but it is what it is for this round. I'm shocked they even look as decent as they do. The Durban will be much better in yield but I really just can't wait until this whole tent is free again. My flash causes the one cola to look so white on the tip but it looks just like the others.

I got some Aurora Indica seeds a while back. I look forward to growing them. Escpecially after you have an Ase/Penny endorsement.

The Durban Poison looks like a typical Sativa pain in the butt to grow. I don't have the balls to Super Crop that late in flower. The stems get stiff and woody. I am gonig to have to do it one of these days.

Love a good golf ball Kush. I’m really strongly considering taking another shot at the LA Confidential to do it properly. I bet I could get some big, dense golf balls now.

I enjoy a good sativa but strong indica is my go to. I’m kind of the opposite of you - I sneak a token sativa in to a strongly indica grow rather than the other way around.

Me neither JM. They definitely get me wound up. I love a good clear headed sativa in the morning. Love my Chocolope.

And hey @LEDRF, your videos were super helpful in getting me started in coco. Some of your mantras (such as water every day to runoff; all a grow needs is calmag, A+B nutes, and PK boost) have really stuck with me as I refined my techniques. Awesome to see you watching Ase's grow, he was massively helpful to me finding my footing.

I am always doing supercropping on mid flowering. Just water them plenty on previous day and be patient when bending. I spend like 4-5 minutes for a single branch. I give it a good pinch then bend with small but repetetive moves. You can check my pineapple journal if you want to see how I do it. If you break a branch, no problem do what PW says:passitleft:
