Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Strains

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

The new humidifier in the closet is keeping a solid 68-72% RH, so that is an option. I'm still worried about lowering the humidity in our veg tent by having to exchange air in it already, so we'll have to work that out tomorrow and we'll hang our first harvest in there.

For tonight:

  • Candi was given three quarter strength DNF Bloom A+B and third strength calmag+ at 696ppm and 5.8 PH.

Everyone else was fine. Rev could have been done up, but since tomorrow is the weekend we'll just work them around noon rather than 6 or 7pm. She's been damp for a week straight, so we wanted to get her at least a bit dry.

Family pics:

Britney (63 days, 11.2 lbs soaked yesterday):

Rev (61 days, 9.8 lbs, didn't drop as much over a day as for the last four days):

Trudy (71 days, 10.6 lbs down from 12.2 yesterday):

Candi (71 days, 11.8 lbs before watering, 20.8 after):

Tall NL (71 days, 11.2 lbs down from 12.8 yesterday, probably should have been watered tonight, but she can wait for noon tomorrow):

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

A discerning eye may have noticed that the "back in the tent" shot above looks a little roomier than it did before.

Jaybiz's weed-lust could be delayed no longer, someone had to lose their feet. We'd rather have premature grass from our own tent, and if someone didn't die today we'd have likely had to purchase someone else's grow. I don't even know whose. Our guy would bring it, but who grew it? Did he love it at all? I'll bet no.

To her friends and supporters, she was the soldier that took the most damage from the cold floor. To us she was the small droopy one, then the discolored one. She lived longer than either of us expected.

First, a tribute to her life...

Droopy even as a toddler, two weeks old:

Three Weeks:

Four Weeks:

It was during this fourth week that Shiggs saved all our girls. Forever indebted bud!

Five Weeks:

We'd overwatered her for 5 weeks at this point, four of them with cold feet. It's a wonder she survived at all.

Six Weeks:

Finally starting to recover a little bit from the perpetual overwatering.

Seven Weeks actually fell on Christmas eve!:

Started showing her purple during the 6th week, looked like hell to us.

Eight Weeks, New Years eve!:

Nine Weeks:

Ten Weeks,:

And Finally, Tonight's Pictures:

Without her big fan leaves:

As clipped as she's going to be to hang tonight:

Poor little thing only weighed in at 259 grams as she looked in the last pic above. We plan to dry her for a night or two in the closet at 65-70 f and 68-72% RH, then manicure her better and hang her in the veg tent above the spider for another couple of days, and evaluate after that.

That is, assuming nobody goes "Wait you idiots, what are you DOING!"

Regardless of everything else, it feels indescribably fantastic to have something hanging up to dry.

:yahoo:

Good eye man, that's impressive!

She's already taught me the importance of lollipopping. Candi and Britney are going to be a 24 hour day each to harvest.

Oddly, i thought I might be sentimental about cutting any of them down. Not so far! :)

Listen to Jbiz throwing some game. You fancy yourself a ladies man don't you Jbiz? Don't lie because RTK will tell the truth!

:rofl: I actually did laugh out loud when I read that. Naw not much game here.. I can't even talk to people in a social setting without being medicated.. speaking about being medicated.. it's almost 8am.. I had better get on that...

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

I use a cardboard clothes closet and run a string grid through the top. W a small fan in the bottom. I also keep the girls in the dark for 3 to 5 days inside it in the pot before chopping. I find it helps with trichrome production. Keep the temp about 75 to 79 so growth doesn't slow.

As far as light goes definitely keep out of sunlight and as little other light as possible for about 14 days to help dissipate the chlorophyll.

But that's just me.

Congratulations rtk and jb on the silver medal!!!

Thanks PC, rtk is right, the drying part has proven to be more difficult than the growing so all ideas are welcome and yours sounds like a good one. Not sure how things will end up as we adjust our plan (hour by hour) but the cardboard closet is a great idea

Isn't it weird that it is only two months to the time you guys started growing? Now that it is in your life do you wonder why it was missing for so long?

We wonder that ALLLLL the time! RTK is always asking me.. why didn't you suggest this sooner? Why do I have to be the idea guy all the time? ehhh RTK??? hahaha (I shouldn't complain, I come up with the ideas and he does the research.. works out pretty well lol)

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Haha I just got a pic in my mind of jbiz sitting in a recliner with his feet up smoking a joint and eating Bon bons. RTK in the meantime is scurrying around cleaning the tent like Cinderella. Jbiz says" you know what you should do next? That plant over there could use a leaf wash. Then go get me more Bon bons, they are Jbiz's thinking food!"

I was just talking to my husband the other day. Why in the hell didn't I think of growing sooner?! Ive missed out on so much fun! I'd be pass the worrying noob stage by now. I probably would have an awesome setup cuz I would have invested over time (on a fixed income). Most of all, I definitely be smoking by now and my husband would have his medicine!

I can't believe how successful it has been, absolutely ridiculous honestly. Now we just need to get a half dozen or so grows under our belts so we can perfect our own unique methods.

Could not have done it without you and everyone else that's pitched in. I think of how lucky we were to find this forum and all of you all, then I look at smokeater's thread and see the true power this community possesses. If it never changes, I'll never leave.

I'm struggling to think of another suggestion you've come up with that even compares... Our joint wellspring of novel ideas is usually at the level of soft vs. strong toilet paper.

HA! Not exactly, Jaybiz usually ends up with more of the heavy lifting type stuff. IT spread has taken a bit of a toll, so I "let" him climb the ladders and carry the buckets. I'm a nice guy that way. So, it'd be far more likely that I'd be the one suggesting the leaf wash, with about a 50/50 chance of being the one to do it, but Biz'd likely lug the water for it. :)

See, he came up with the idea "let's grow some weed" with the thought of putting a seed in a pot with a light above it. Over the next four days I'd randomly say things like "we need some syringes right away" and he'd look at me like I had two heads. Now he's the nute guy and uses them every day, doing up buckets for everybody while I'm doing the data collection, taking pics, checking for dead stuff and nanners, etc.

We have proven to be an effective team though, no question there.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Jan 16 update, posted late.

We picked up an oil filled radiator heater for the drying closet. Temps now stable at 70-72 and RH is at 55%, a little lower than I wanted but good enough for now and better than the 29% in the rest of the house.

Three needed watering today:

  • Rev got cut from 75% to 50% strength DNF Bloom A+B and 25% strength calmag+ at 574ppm and 5.8 PH.
  • Brit remained on 100% strength DNF Bloom A+B and half strength calmag+ at 826ppm and 5.8 PH.
  • Tall NL remained with straight water, but was flushed with about 13 liters of bubbled tap water. She hasn't faded at all since getting no nutes, so we wanted to make sure the medium was empty.

Family pics:

Rev (62 days, 5.6 lbs before watering, 13.8 after). We meant to get to her by lunch but she waited until 5. Was awesome to watch her inflate with water while we fed her:

Candi (72 days, 16.2 lbs, down from 20.8 after yesterday's soaking):

Brit (64 days, 7.2 before watering, not weighed after):

Tall NL (72 days, 9.4 lbs before watering, 18.4 after):

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

For the second day in a row, our "back in the tent" pics are missing a plant...

Trudy, previously know as the Pale Girl, has parted from her pot and moved on up beside Droops in the great drying closet in the sky. Although Droops took the most damage from the floor, it was Trudy's sudden shift from dark to pale green that was the canary in the coal mine, after which they all got warm socks and toasty toes (insulated floor).

Trudy's life tribute:

Two weeks old:

Three Weeks:

Four Weeks:

Five Weeks:

Color change isn't only the floor though here, it's also the different LED above her.

Six Weeks:

During the 6th week when the name Pale Girl started to fail to describe her, and she was renamed to Trudy, in honor of our new PM.

Seven Weeks-ish, should have been Christmas Eve but was boxing day instead :

Eight Weeks, New Years eve!:

Nine Weeks:

Ten Weeks,:

And Finally, Tonight's Pictures:

Without her big fan leaves:

We cut her in half to hang, to keep the branches a little further apart:

Root mass:

Top part was 204 grams, bottom was 332 grams, for a wet weight with stems at 536 grams. That's just a few grams over twice the weight of Droops yesterday.

We'll let her dry out for a couple of days and then do a tighter manicure.

So it was another WOOOOooOOHoOOOoooT day!
