Antics CFL Grow 2014

Very nice job!
How old are these plants? I can't see any flower yet...
I'm also growing Med gom on cfl + led.

Good luck and enjoy it.

Quick One is a little over 5 weeks.

The Smaller MED GOM is just past 6 weeks

The taller MED GOM is just past 7 weeks now.

Quick One has had preflower for almost 3 weeks now.

And the tallest MED GOM had quite a few pods and pistils, but no flowering yet.

All of the plants are Feminised Autos, and none have signs of Hermying yet.

Quick one is supposed to grow about 60cm.
MED GOM should grow 50-100cm (Big range here)

Current heights:

Quick One: 30.5cm/12"
MED GOM: 35.5cm/14"
MED GOM: 49.5cm/19.5"

Very strange, isn't it? The med gom is supposed to be cropped in 2 weeks from now...
Have you checked the PH of the soil?
Or maybe a led red bulb would help the flowering period.
The good point is that the vegetative period was extended, probably you'll have a better crop. Hope so!

Greetings from Uruguay!

PH of the soil constantly climbs, I've been using a combination of wood chips and lemon juice to keep the PH between 6-7
A single red LED probably wouldn't have much effect, I believe the MED GOMs are just taking longer to flower, which is fine with me. I have the Quick One under only 3 bulbs directly (and receives ambient lighting from the rest) and its been flowering, and pistils are just starting to turn, and tricomes are visible.

yeah I've got an auto on the go that i just threw into a pot for the sake of it, I'm not expecting great things from it but it will be cooked by the time my photoperiodic girls have come up, so I'll at least have some interim pot lol

My other 2 MED GOM are both autos also. They're just running a longer Veg period, which is fine by me. The oldest one is starting to flower a little, and the younger one isn't far behind.

And I just grabbed some ribbon and paperclips for some half-assed LST to give the branches a slightly wider spread, and hopefully increase yield a little bit more.

Doing great Antics! have two MG1's that are about 22 das old or so. Cant wait to see how yours turns out. I am gong to turn my two gals into Simpson oil, so I wont know how they smoke.

I also have a giant auto growing in a hydro system.

Keep up the good wok man. I'm in for the ride! +reps :)

I plan to use some for smoke, and I'd like to try some for a topical arthritis, fibromyalgia, general ache/pain cream.

I planted the oldest one right around March 8 2014- March 10 2014, From seed I'm sitting at about 9 weeks FROM SEED, or roughly 8 1/2 weeks from sprout. I'm currently at about the time they should be flowered and harvested according to Herbies, at 60-65 days 420 Magazine Sponsor! Link: ! CBD Crew Med GOM Auto 1.0 Feminised Autoflowering Seeds - Updated:12th May 2014

But I'm fine with that. It will hopefully mean more buds. Unfortunately I can't find any strain info from the breeders, CBD Crew, or Grass-O-Matic.

I would suggest a little LST, and tie the branches to give the plant a little spread, it likes to grow pretty dense and bushy, at least in my experience with the 2 I have growing.

I'm at right about 60 days from sprout now, and the last time I looked, I couldn't see any trichomes, just the start of flowering. I'll be taking some pictures again today to update the grow journal, and will take a look to see if I have any trichomes forming yet, and I'll take some new measurements, and attempt to count the current number of bud sites.

Ok picture time.

Height update:

Quick One: 35.5cm/14"
MED GOM: 45.75cm/18"
MED GOM: 63.5cm/25"

I have read Quick One to max out about 60cm, so I'm a little over halfway there.

MED GOM, I read the height range to be 50cm-100cm, which is a really big range. But I'm past the bare minimum, so that's a small achievement for me.

The MED GOMs seem to be growing at a rate of about 13cm/5" every week.

And I counted over 50 individual bud sites on the oldest MED GOM, so I'm hoping to have a couple fairly impressive colas to show off for my first grow :)

One of these days this week I'm going to tie down the branches again to make sure the MED GOMs keep a nice spread on them since I'm getting some smaller bud sites popping up underneath the fan leaves.

Agreed 100% Equanimity, I've learned a lot on this first grow, so the next grow will require rebuilding everything, and repositioning all of my lights to minimize how often I have to move them, while at the same time maximizing their potential.

At least until I build my LED light. These CFLs still produce a little too much heat in smaller grow areas.

yeah the CFLs get well toasty in a cupboard, my only gripe with LED is having to have them like a foot away from the top of the canopy, which would reduce my vertical headroom to 3 feet. I'm stuck with CFLs until i can find an LED that likes to kiss the green

Ahh I wasn't aware of the distance for LEDs. Is there any particular reason that the LEDs need to be that far away?

Why dont you change the cfl's for a 250W HPS?
They give out 126 lumens per watt...

It's seems to be much more efficient.
I'm asking you because I'm in a similar situation and probably I'll go for the HPS.

More efficient, yes. Better light penetration, absolutely. But I'm currently struggling to control grow temps with just CFLs, MH and HPS run much, much hotter than CFLs, and without an exterior vent option

I would advice heavy LST or SOG and a chandelier of hanging adjustable CFL's on some sort of ring, and that ring suspended from an adjustable cable. That would give optimal flexability and is what I was using the last few days before things went south .. it worked well for me.
