Another Tabletop Crop: Carmen's Spring Grow With Vipar Spectra XS 1500 Pro

Highya Carmen,

Love those canna movies!! Very nice looking ladies. You do well without all the apparatus. I like that! Lavender looks nice too! Happy Smokin'
Thank you Bode, I love coaxing these plants into the best they can be.
Could be sunburnt, could be pollinated!
Pollinated? ... that's exactly what it looks like, now I hope it's just sunburn. Damn. It's only been out there for three days.
Nice vids though I do miss the South Efrican accent. :)
The cat was sweet though, right? 🐱

RR1 is stretching nicely, I'm pleased to say. Please excuse the stained pot saucers. I haven't got around to giving them a good scrub yet.

Did you say you sprayed RR2 for pests when you sat it outside? I saw someone mentioned it can turned the hairs brown prematurely.
No, not yet. I must still buy a pump action spray gun so that the stuff I use doesn't clog up the mechanism. It's powder and has to be put into solution but it doesn't dissolve. I think the plant is probably pollinated. I would have thought that if it was sunburn, the tops of the buds would get it first and the leaves would show signs. This darkening is limited to lower tips of pistils. It no longer looks like honey :(, it looks suspo.

I think Shed is likely right, that RR2 has been pollenated. What do you guys think? Grrrr.

Not pollinated

Preston do you think the pistils are sunburnt, or do you think that this is normal? It seems early to me.
Not sure why they look like that, but that doesn't look like a pollinated plant.

I see some miniaturization, overly glossy, blue tinted and clawing leaves. My bet is on to much sauce! Cheers!

Agreed. When I've had pollinated buds the stigmas turned entirely brown and withdrew. It would also be really unusual for all the stigmas to be hit like that.
Even hand pollination isn't that even.
Looks more to me like they've been scorched.

Going out on a limb here, but perhaps the red pistils are one reason the strain is called Red Russian, and there is nothing wrong with them at all? I recall some "Columbian Red Bud" back in the 70s that had very red pistils in the bag.

Grow looks like it is going well, my opinion is they are just burnt, if pollinated it would turn brown completely .
Did you just put it outside & not slowly let it get use to outside full sun?

I just have to get my head around the idea of spending money on seeds I can't clone and are a one use item .🙂
Buy some regular auto's & make your own seeds
My first purchase was a 20 pack assorted mix & ended up with a monster
Have hundreds now Short stuff surprised the sh*t out of me

Today a Red Hot Cookies from one of the sponsors Sweet Seeds. 60% they gonred. After 5/9 weeks flower. Bingo. Got the red. In four weeks it’ll be dark red.

This is a good thing. It means I can put another plant outside without worrying about that being a threat. Thanks Preston.

Thank you Wastei for your opinion. Please will you tell me what you mean. How can I give the plant too much sauce in an ordinary los? I don't understand what you think I should be doing differently?

Good idea MGM but no, when I grew it before the flowers were big and very white.

"Red Russian XXL has a very broad family tree. The first in the cross is White Widow, a prize winning hybrid, that originates from Brazil sativa and Indian indica. On the other side we have AK-77V, that originates from AK-47. AK-47s ancestors are Colombian sativa, Mexican sativa, Thai sativa and Afghani indica. This cross resulted in White Russian, that was changed and improved, and so became Red Russian XXL."

Well here's the thing. I put it in a spot that gets indirect sunlight for half the day. I didn't do it properly. I didn't do it with love. I basically put the plant out and have been giving it water daily and nothing else. Thanks Joe.

It's going to be a looker.

Hey Carmen!

I fell behind yet again. I haven't been getting notifications for your journal.

Any way, I've caught up again and had fun doing it.

Needless to say, I loved this turn of events:

The RR2 is definitely a little runtish and stubby. It looks prettier in the pictures than it is in real life

Thank you Bode. I have high hopes for RR1. I think it might be the healthiest of all my autos so far.

I want to add that my RR1 grew another inch since yesterday. It is now 12 inches tall / 31 cm.

RR1 is stretching nicely, I'm pleased to say.
Congrats! :Rasta:

I'm with P9 and Mel. I'm going with sunburned. But you'll know if it's specific to that variety when the inside one is in flower!
Thank you Shed. I feel bad about not being more careful introducing the plant to the sun.
