Another Brix In The Wall: Sweet Pink Stink & Coked Out Girl Scout

re: Another Brix In The Wall - Sweet Pink Stink & Girl Scout

11 days in and the Clones are doing pretty good for the most part, a couple look very sad but that's ok because I don't have room for all of them. How long should I leave them in the 6 ounce pots? Should they go in #1's soon or wait until they are root bound?

I have 4 alien abduction clones in #1's, they're very lanky, maybe 2 feet tall with 4-6 inches between nodes. I think I may chop em and concentrate on the others. I do have 1 alien abduction in a #2 that is shorter and bushy which I will probably put in kit soil, #10. That would leave me with 4 plants in kit soil to care for and 5-7 clones needing to veg. Dag nab it, so much for only having 3 plants!

Cull the lanky ladies?

If you have lanky plants you might not keep, this is a great time to try training techniques - supercrop #1, LST (bend down) #2, FIM #3, top #4 to half it's height.

I suggest you experiment and see for yourself how Alien Abduction responds to a little rough treatment.

I suggested you supercrop #1 first, because if you snap the leader, you can top her (#4) and try again for a supercrop. Some plants supercrop with no complaints and some take a lot of massaging and squeezing to cooperate.

And a rep+ slap for that Radogast :thumb:

Awesome idea! I've done plenty of LST, FIM and topping (only the tippy tops, never 1/2 way) but I've never done SC. How far down from the top should I SC? 6 inches or so?

Thanks Rad!

Alien abduction #2 is now in a #10 with kit soil. Didn't do anything with the lanky ladies yet.

Normally one will supercrop to either avoid growing into the lights and/or create a more even canopy.

If your girl is a lollipop with no branching, trying shortening by 1/3 to 1/2. This will force branching.
If your girl is a christmas tree with 1 or 2 tall leaders surrounded by shorter branches, I would supercrop the leaders to about 3 inches below the new canopy created by the shorter branches.

My theory is that, similar to a scrog, you want to concentrate all the fast growing meristems into a 2-4 thick layer so that strong light can reach all buds somewhat equally.

A big cola is a beautiful thing, but my 1 plant with an 11-inch cola only produced about 4 grams of bud on all the other branches.

P.S. If you plan to flower them out, you might adjust your experiments to bring the growing tips to within a couple of inches of other plants sharing a light :)

re: Another Brix In The Wall - Sweet Pink Stink & Girl Scout

Thanks again Rad! Not sure I will flower them but may experiment with SC for the experience. I may keep them as mothers but right now I have about 24 days left on my big plants which will open up some space to put my vegging girls in flower then my new clones in kit soil in veg. Anyways, I made too many clones and the lanky girls are less than desirable so may not make the cut (or they will make the cut/chop, ha!)

Speaking of my new clones.

I suggest you do the transplant now.

Doc Bud starts his plants in 1-gallon. The way I understand it. If you water by soaking your pots, the size of the pot doesn't affect the root spreading very much. If you top water, then it helps to have more small transplants.

I will be starting this run in #1 and the next run in #3 (because I have 4 each #1 and #3 pots  )

re: Another Brix In The Wall - Sweet Pink Stink & Girl Scout

HB soil doesn't work well in small pots so you'll have to nurse them constantly if you don't upcan. But if you upcan, they'll just keep growing.

It'd be nice to have some OC+ sitting around ... :hmmm:

Otherwise, if you want to keep a clone on hand to preserve the genetics, you could just take a cut of the clone(s), and restart the whole cycle.

re: Another Brix In The Wall - Sweet Pink Stink & Girl Scout

Thanks Rad! I probably shouldn't ask questions that I don't want to hear a certain answer, Dag nab it, I was hoping you would say leave em in the 6 ounce pots for a bit which I may need to do anyways because of lack of space and light. They are currently in my seedling/clone armoire under 1 CFL. My veg tent is jammed and under lit. I do still have my dog cag veg space but only cfls. I wanted to wait for the new perfect sun Goliath which is supposed to be ready at the end of the month then I would have an extra led plus cfls.

Maybe I should have asked if it is ok to leave em in the small pots for a couple more weeks.??

Ok. I'll get em in the #1's soon. Gonna need some more light. May just get the same hid I already have AND the Goliath, DOH!

re: Another Brix In The Wall - Sweet Pink Stink & Girl Scout

I went ahead and got another 600w MH/HPS dimable light, came with a set of adjustable hangars and a timer for about 150 bones, came in a day! All hooked up, starting at 50% and will increase to 75% in a couple days.

My clones are 14 days old. I am going to give em another 2-3 days before I move em up to #1's. I think I will get 4 or 5 out of 7 based. How they look today.

My first attempt at super cropping. How do they look?

Hey Ween were just dropping by to check things out our friend. I'm sure we will have tons of questions as well when we get our kit soil growing. So many cool people here that help out, it's awesome!!! Love the ladies ween, looking great.

Going to drop this here for bud. :passitleft:

Blessed buds to you

re: Another Brix In The Wall - Sweet Pink Stink & Girl Scout

Those are some of the finest looking clones I've seen in awhile! :bravo:

... wait ... :hmmmm: ... was that first pic the clones or the moms?

re: Another Brix In The Wall - Sweet Pink Stink & Girl Scout

Your supercropping looks good. There is varation in your 'kinks' but they all look healthy from here. I find it amazing how fast the branches bounce back and pull themselves upright. If they come back too tall for your tastes, you might just have to supercrop again over the weekend :)

I do my second supercrops at a slightly different location rather than rebend right at the kink.

Ha, not the clones, the first pic is the carnival mother. The 3rd pic shows some clones taken a while ago and here are my latest clones.

Whassup Ween??
Yea bruh. You doin the damn thing I see.
Keep it green. Stage out

re: Another Brix In The Wall - Sweet Pink Stink & Girl Scout

Went to transplant the clones into #1's and only got 2 of 7 with roots, DOH! One carnival and one white widowXbig bud.

I need to take more clones but am out of cloning gel. Can I use "roots" from the kit in its place or does anyone have any other suggestions? I can pick up some cloning gel, just figured I'd ask.

re: Another Brix In The Wall - Sweet Pink Stink & Girl Scout

So is there by chance a chart for per gallon mixing of kit nutes? I don't have 6 plants, I have 3 budding (not kit soil but Duggan suggested GE plus tea) and in my veg tent I have 4 in #10's of kit soil and they are also due for GE drench when they start to wilt.

The instructions call to mix 1/2 to 1 1/2 ounces per 6 plants plus 2.5 ml of tea so for my 3 budding plants, I would simply divide by 2 so would do 1/2 ounce of GE and 1.25 ml of tea divided evenly between the 3. Assuming they would take 2 gallons of water each I will add about 5ml of GE and about .4ml of tea to each 2 gallons of water.

Does this sound right?

re: Another Brix In The Wall - Sweet Pink Stink & Girl Scout

Think gallons of soil.

6 pots, each 7 gallons = 42 gallons of soil.
4 pots, each 10 gallons = 40 gallons of soil.

It's almost the same. Use the same mix, and each of your #10s gets 1/4 of the total, for instance.

:Namaste:

[Edit] And I've never used cloning gel. I have some cheapo powder, but sometimes I don't bother. I haven't noticed that it makes a big difference. Medium, RH, lighting, etc, are more significant. I've started to drop a pinch of Roots into the water I'm rooting cuts in, but I don't have any real evidence that it helps.
