Another Brix In The Wall: Sweet Pink Stink & Coked Out Girl Scout

re: Another Brix In The Wall - Sweet Pink Stink & Girl Scout

I struggle with humidity being low during the winter. You can always do it the cheap way with a damp washcloth laid over a bowl of warm water. Once your plants have a few more sets of leaves the humidity will rise.
You can also use a clear water bottle, cut it in half maybe poke some holes in it. Then place it right over your plants until the growth picks up.

When i retire, i would like to be able to travel around offering my help to growers...i think of it often , but know it's just a pipe dream.:) Ween , i wish i was there to fix you up electrically, proper, check things out for ya. With the heat issue, yes , that's a wee bit too cold . Have you looked for a dual element heater with a built in T Stat? often they come with two switches to turn on and off both the elements . I have mine with just one of them on , and the Stat set fairly low , just to get the chill out for them. You have to remember though , with your exhaust fan running , it will take longer to heat up the area. With mine , the exhaust goes right into my shop , so that goes a few degrees up as well.:) With both elements on , and the T Stat turned up to max.....it would draw a full circuit at 1500 watts (two 750W elements), a little over 13 amps at 120Volts. I could not afford that...our hydro rates are high here....bahhhh!
Anyhow, have an awesome night ween and friends.:Namaste:

Cooooold....and dry.
thanks Doc! That's what I thought so I'm gonna try to remedy that situation. The heat is the hard part for me but I'll figure it out.

Hi MsSinful! Thanks for the ideas! I will try the damp washcloth over a warm bowl of water in the meantime until I get another humidifier.

That would be an awesome retirement gig for you Duggan! You'd have to line up a few jobs to make the trips worth it. There must be some money in helping growers get set up, traveling grow seminars. Pipe dreams are good to have.

On the dual element heater, are you talking about those oil filled heaters? I had one, not dual element and it also tripped the breakers but my girlfriend has one at her mothers with 2 elements so maybe I will get my hands on that one and see if it does the trick.

I use about 1.5 gal per day bringing humidity in a 4x6' from 40+ to 60+. A damp washcloth is better than nothing, but often not enough. Humifiers are often found cheap at GoodWill type thrift stores.

I saw a 400W heater for $70 at the hardware store, but most small heaters are 750W and/or 1500W. For $70, since I could run it from basement to basement, it was cheaper to install a new 20 amp circuit than spend $70 on a low amperage heater.

I resent the expense of running one heater per environment, but nothing makes your environmentals easier than thermostatically controller heaters and RH controller humidifiers. Even then it takes me about a week to get things to settle down after a change.

For environmental controls, thrift stores and auctions are your friends. Since I go to auctions anyway, I have $4 spares :)

No , not those oil filled ones...just a little electric one with two 750 W elements that you can choose to only have one of them on .That's the ticket as it will provide enough heat to take the 'chil' out of the air but not enough to draw a lot of power, OK! Look at mine on my thread...it works great and I only have one element 'on' and the Tstat turned way down , so it's not always on! Cheers bud. have an awesome day Ween and friends!:)

+57 and buds are filling in nice, starting to lean a little. She is about 30" below the Goliath, wondering if/when I should bring her closer and how close....? LED?

For a first grow with this light, I might go with "If it aint broke don't fix it!"
HOWEVER
One LED retailer suggested 18" away. PerfectSun doesn't give a recommendation.
I just looked at another forum where a grower had his tall plant at 12" and smaller plants a foot lower. The Tall haze came out pretty good.
If it were me, I'd try 18" as soon as they hit flower and try to keep them 12" away after the stretch --or do more research :)

Thanks Rad! Someone, I think LEDRF, suggested the current height and to move them closer towards the end which will help them pack on the weight. I am thinking there is about 2 weeks left, maybe a few days more and that I should move them to 24" away soon, like maybe tonight.....?

I love reading brix journals. Such a joy to see all the brix vets come out and help!

Looking good there Ween, keep up the good work.

Keep em green and sticky :peace:

Thanks HT! The support given to newbie brixxers is amazing!

I went ahead and raised her up to about 24" below the Goliath and so far she seems to be taking the move well. Buds continue to swell. I suspect this will be my best yield yet, guessing between 5-6 zips but anything over 4 will be a winner.

My seedlings are very slowly coming around. I have hope for them.

re: Another Brix In The Wall - Sweet Pink Stink & Girl Scout

Looking good over here Ween. How's your temps and Rh? You'll definitely get over 4 zips. My first grow was a much smaller plant in coco and I pulled 4oz. Can't wait to get where you are with my girl.
