Amy Gardner's First Journal - Outdoor - Critical Cure & Chaos In The Forest

fair enough. I can see why it could be detrimental in a smaller pot, depending on what is in your cover crop... The guy i was thinking about uses 200gallons bags and grows trees... Always said cover crop was beneficial... Cant remember his reasonings.... Google "jay plantspeaker instagram"... Use to follow him before i grew tired of the "insta-drama" and got rid of it
Oh yeah...there is a big difference between 7 gallons and 200!

LOS growers use cover crops even in small pots (7gal+ - my pot is closer to 10). I don’t know if chickweed is one of them, it came up on it’s own and I left it. I have occasionally trimmed it back and left the trimmings as some green matter for the microherd. I don’t know the reasoning behind the covercrops Shed - but it has something to do with supporting a lively and varied micro community in the soil life and the notion of competition being not as relevant.
So mine wasn’t deliberate, it just happened and I liked the way it looked and up until the washout that I wasn’t able to replenish in time, the plant grew amazingly happily, thrived actually. And it’s bounced back well since I’ve been able to treat it right, without removing the chickweed so I’m not too fussed to have one less thing to do!

So, I’m not saying I did it right, but I am saying that in an LOS, a cover crop is a beneficial thing. Maybe @bobrown14 will drop in and share some more accurate wisdom with us on cover crops in LOS.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Seems the neuro-immune condition (ME) puts me in a higher risk category for shingles. I barely noticed the other symptoms - all the fatigue and flu-like stuff - that can accompany shingles cause I feel like that all the time anyway! I had been feeling worse, but just thought I was more tired and depleted from all the gardening ;) I’ve had heaps of extra pain, but I get that all the time too, so hadn’t registered something was up, until the rash appeared.
Bed rest is my normal routine these days so I’m doing that mostly and thankfully only have one plant remaining to tend and harvest!

About the topicals and the shingles, I plan to try it and I’ll let you know. My herbalist said in email that she uses hypericum oil infusion for the shingles rash and when I suggested I might try some of my own ‘special’ infusion first she thought it a good idea and is looking forward to the results! As am I. If it binds directly to the CB2 receptors in the nerves (which is what I think it does), it should kill the pain nicely! And be good for the skin as well!

G, (@Lady G2HM) I don’t know why the title isn’t there? I wasn’t sure how soon it’s meant to appear, so hasn’t hassled them about it. Although seeing as my prize haul seems to be limited to the CKS prize (I have 10 Early Miss seeds coming my way) and it’s ‘all about the title’ (plus a delay on all the 420merch due to the recent office move...) it would be good to have it! Others have asked me too in last day or so, so I popped the question to them just now, promoted by your post.

I find that vaping for neuropathic pain is great but doesn’t last very long so I have to vape fairly heavily all day - not a disaster, but the internal. 2:1/CBD:THC oil, plus a topical is, I hope, going to be more lasting.

:Namaste:

Just lookin' out for yah, that title goes up the same or next day. You're sooo patient. Glad you're gettin' seeds, there were a few things I didn't get either, but you'll love the merch box coming to you. Finally another female with a t-shirt. We can do chest bumps now...hahahahaha:rofl:

I wonder if it's you, me, and sweetsue whom are the only females with t-shirts? There's gotta be more and should be in due time. Here's to chick super grow powers!

So what's next on the growdar, indoor or continue with outdoor?
Missed this before... next is some down time! Ha! And I’ll be slowly pottering along on getting my little DIY SweetSue inspired Tiny Closet upgraded for a single plant indoor grow over winter. I am building my own light and need to upgrade the box a bit. In a couple of weeks my helper is coming to start work on that with me. In the old days (2yrs ago) I would’ve just done it all myself. These days I pay someone to do the actual tools work- I just direct! Like with the Pods ;)

We can do chest bumps now...hahahahaha:rofl:
Highlarious G!

Sure, but you grow your trees upside down so it doesn't count.
Even more highlarious !

And yes - the drip line (I always forget that that’s what it’s called) that’s about where it is. My lovely other does most of the other gardening. I have input into the design... ;)

:Namaste:

*No point RUSSIAN past the root zone...hahahaha funny

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

So - in all this talk about shingles and cover crops ... what about the plant people!!! Hasn’t it bounced back nicely!? :slide:
Nice picture......!!!!

Hi Amy, sorry to hear about the shingles. I don't have 1st hand experience with shingles but a patient of mine does and my pain lotion works for her. THC is good for nerve pain. I'm no expert on shingles but I think it is the nerve endings that scream. I do have 1st hand experience with 2nd degree burns which is damaged nerve endings and the lotion made me pain free 5 minutes after application. I was in total agony for hours before the wife said, "hey, why don't you try the lotion?" I said because you're not supposed to put greasy stuff on a burn. It got to the point I couldn't take it anymore and just tried it. Wow what a god send. I stayed pain free until healed and had absolutely no scarring. My Doctor was really impressed when I showed her how I healed and that I didn't want any pain meds or their burn cream. I'm slowly convincing her of the healing powers of cannabis. Everytime I see her now she has more questions for me than I do for her lol.
