LOS growers use cover crops even in small pots (7gal+ - my pot is closer to 10). I don’t know if chickweed is one of them, it came up on it’s own and I left it. I have occasionally trimmed it back and left the trimmings as some green matter for the microherd. I don’t know the reasoning behind the covercrops Shed - but it has something to do with supporting a lively and varied micro community in the soil life and the notion of competition being not as relevant.
So mine wasn’t deliberate, it just happened and I liked the way it looked and up until the washout that I wasn’t able to replenish in time, the plant grew amazingly happily, thrived actually. And it’s bounced back well since I’ve been able to treat it right, without removing the chickweed so I’m not too fussed to have one less thing to do!
So, I’m not saying I did it right, but I am saying that in an LOS, a cover crop is a beneficial thing. Maybe
@bobrown14 will drop in and share some more accurate wisdom with us on cover crops in LOS.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Seems the neuro-immune condition (ME) puts me in a higher risk category for shingles. I barely noticed the other symptoms - all the fatigue and flu-like stuff - that can accompany shingles cause I feel like that all the time anyway! I had been feeling worse, but just thought I was more tired and depleted from all the gardening
I’ve had heaps of extra pain, but I get that all the time too, so hadn’t registered something was up, until the rash appeared.
Bed rest is my normal routine these days so I’m doing that mostly and thankfully only have one plant remaining to tend and harvest!
About the topicals and the shingles, I plan to try it and I’ll let you know. My herbalist said in email that she uses hypericum oil infusion for the shingles rash and when I suggested I might try some of my own ‘special’ infusion first she thought it a good idea and is looking forward to the results! As am I. If it binds directly to the CB2 receptors in the nerves (which is what I think it does), it should kill the pain nicely! And be good for the skin as well!
G, (
@Lady G2HM) I don’t know why the title isn’t there? I wasn’t sure how soon it’s meant to appear, so hasn’t hassled them about it. Although seeing as my prize haul seems to be limited to the CKS prize (I have 10 Early Miss seeds coming my way) and it’s ‘all about the title’ (plus a delay on all the 420merch due to the recent office move...) it would be good to have it! Others have asked me too in last day or so, so I popped the question to them just now, promoted by your post.
I find that vaping for neuropathic pain is great but doesn’t last very long so I have to vape fairly heavily all day - not a disaster, but the internal. 2:1/CBD:THC oil, plus a topical is, I hope, going to be more lasting.
