Amy Gardner’s High Brix Dreams

Photo dump. Early Miss loved the first night outside. I moved it into the full sun in the early morning and the response was good - a couple of
hours later

I moved it back in the shade

I won’t have to move it much the next few days as it to be overcast. It’s rained a bit today actually and while it doesn’t quite need a stench yet, I’m thinking I will do it anyway if it rains solidly tomorrow - I’ll drench it in the rain!

Now - for the sake of science I dug out the taproot of the DDA that was dying (slowly - I had to end the pain!)

Thought I’d dug down deep enough but heard and felt a little snap ... the tap root gest long, fast!

So in these you can see where there’s some kind of trauma just below the soil line. There was a piece of perlite stuchbto it right at that point, but surely that wouldn’t cause what happened? :hmmmm: Anyway... check it out!

Here’s how long it was. Halfway through day 3 - remembering that it lay it’s head over at the end of day one. I think you can see that the root development was fine for a bit and then it was hampered by something along with the seedling above ground, which makes sense. The taproot still got long, just lost its girth. I wonder if it would have been very much longer had it stayed healthy ... it was really trying so hard to live on!

G’night all :Namaste:

I agree I think it may be damping off that caused that poor DDa to cut its life short! Poor little one! Hey Amy hope all is well !

Got nothing to do with sunlight my friend...

Not sure what part of hardening off plants is misinformation Grizz. It's a real thing for plants of all types when moving from inside to out.
For sure! I use an old screen from a window to shade any plants moved from inside to outside. That way they get the full duration of light, but less intensity. Usually takes 3-4 days. Hardening off is a real thing.:passitleft:

Start two plants in a green house, bring one outfourth node, then watch... Hardening off from the Sun :rofl: lmfao but whatever works regardless of it reasoning i guess

wasn't enjoying a joke, lol.. seedling that fell over is due to dampening off.
Ok - it came off like you were laughing at person who had already said it looked like dampening off. But really you were just laughing at my dying seedling :Namaste:

I agree I think it may be damping off that caused that poor DDa to cut its life short! Poor little one! Hey Amy hope all is well !

That’s the consensus it seems.m :thumb: The thing I’ve learnt is that fungus gnats can cause this dampening off phenomenon. Kill em! Killem All!

I’ll tell you what I have done - is export the li’l fookers to our veggie enclosure :eek:
Oh well, it’s not anything I have the means to control anyway and there’s heaps of predators out there too. Nature has courses

There was all sorts of pests in that garden last year and most things, includIng my cannabis, were pretty much unaffected. The broccoli meanwhile, was overrun with aphids - fall guy i guess. I never saw a single aphid on my ganja all that time. :D

Dampening off..
I think the evolution of cannabis included the Sun

Damn I should say nothing..
That's the post...
I'm laughing at the suggestion of hardening off from the Sun, not at a dead seedling...

I don't think anyone is talking about plants started in a greenhouse. Hardening plants is for plants started indoors that you want to move outside. Like Amy did, I do, Dopy does, and the 5,200,000 results on Google indicate (not that I've read them all ;)).

So you don't think that plant started in the greenhouse and moved isn't going to harden off?? Hmmm....

Of course the greenhouse plants will harden off... I think what hes trying to say is you seem to think plants dont need to be harden off in general, this is by the way you worded your posts and replies.
All plants, when moved from a house, greenhouse, or even a shady area of the yard... they will all harden off as long as the plant is genetically predisposed to handle direct sunlight.
Anyway, hope everyone is having a good day! Still raining here... fun times.

Check out this excellent ziplock that the BTi powder came in.

I mean, you’d want to make sure you weren’t using it for long term storage I guess because who knows when it would start to break down, but it’s made from corn starches and can go into the compost. :D

I’m going to have to read up a little about these things :)

Happy days my friends! The gnatses will be dead! :Namaste:
