Alafornia's 1st Time Multistrain Medical Grow

Northern Lights:

Got a few of the flower tent with a wide angle lens. Also one of the veg tent.

OG Kush CBD and the White Russians are showing a little cal mag issue that I attribute to 1. lower than optimal temps despite my best efforts and 2. not pHing water the last couple of times. Lesson learned and working on the temps. On colder nights it seems I'll have to run the kerosene heater all night - I'm thinking any time it gets to the low twenties or below. They have been recovering since yesterday.

I watered tonight with 2 Mr Clean buckets phed to 7. In the veg tent the seedlings got a small spray and the NL clone was wilted until I watered.

I did put the new Purple Orange CBD seed in soil after soaking since last night. I hope this one sprouts. The other was the first seed that I didn't personally kill that didn't sprout. Last grow was 7/8, but I killed the first OG Kush CBD by digging for it to "help" it and almost killed Westley, leading to the need for Nikita. This time it just didn't take. That's 12/14 and if this one sprouts it will be 13/15 (13/14 excluding the one I killed). I count it this way: I'll be 86.7% successful and the method will be 92.9% successful if POCBD sprouts.

My method is to plop the seed in water in a 1/2 to 3/4 full pint size mason jar with the lid on. I place it on a seedling warmer pad. I've done this with or without a towel covering it. You definitely want to cover it if you think a tap root might show to keep it out of the light. This time a few were showing tap roots within 24 hours. I haven't gone over 24 hours soaking. I then put a dimple in soil down to the distal pinky finger joint in the middle of a dixie/solo cup and place a little mycorrhizae in the hole then drop the seed in and gently cover with soil. The first time I just used plain potting soil. This time I filled about 1/3 or so with my super soil and topped off with plain potting soil. I water the soil well and let any excess drain out of the bottom (because of course we cut drainage holes) then cover with a clear solo cup so I don't have to worry about rushing to spritz the top soil to keep it moist. I didn't do this the first time but I now put the soil into clear dixie/solo cups then place those inside regular opaque cups so the light doesn't reach the roots but so I can pull the clear cups out to see the roots. That helps when deciding on when to transplant.

On clones I do the soil in cups the same way except I poke a much deeper hole since I want to put that stem pretty far in there (about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way down). I do sprinkle in mycorrhizae into the hole. When I cut the clone I soak it in plain water for a few minutes then dip generously in Clonex gel before placing into the soil and gently filling in the soil. Since you already have a stem above "ground" you can pack the soil a little tighter than for a seed because you want it to stay in place. My clones have gone about 8/11 or 8/12 with this method and last time 4/4 with clones taken from flower that showed good roots by day 15 (which really surprised me). I tried another method of putting clonex gel and mycorrhizae in water and letting the cutting soak in that before doing the rest the same but every one of those was lost.

So taking inventory:

In the flower tent are the seven from the first round.

In the veg tent I have clones of every plant in the flower tent, including two of Blueberry. I also have five seedlings and one seed under the soil.

That puts me at 7+8+5=20 plus one seed. Not a big deal since I am caregiver to three medical patients.

I feel like I can slow down just a little after the next grow as then I'll just be trying to replenish instead of getting things going. I'll have some mothers of the favorites around to take from.

Thanks again to everyone that has helped me on this journey. You guys should pat yourselves on the back for helping a newbie do so well and learn so much from pretty much nothing.

That was a great read Al! None of this would possibly (excluding our help) if it weren’t for you to educate your self properly, and give you big enough balls to put this all into a plan! I think you need to pay your self with a pat on the back, sir! :bravo:

your plants are looking great! You should be getting a great haul off of your flowering plants to get you started!:thumb:

I just wanted to add, from the pictures you posted on the last page. They look like their cheering on, like the cheerleaders on the side of the football field!:cheer:

Thanks, BLS. I have worked my hindparts off.

I came home tonight and feel asleep pretty early before getting back up to check on everything. Seems to be a theme lately. I hate that they changed the time change to later in the year. I'll have an update below and some pics of OGK CBD.

OG Kush CBD is still a little yellow. I think I have the problems with temp and pH sorted out? The White Russians look a lot better while BB, OS, MH1, and NL all look great. Meanwhile OG Kush CBD looks like she is having k+ issues and maybe a little cal-mag issues. Got a few pics and just gonna post them here to see what you guys think,

All of these are near the top near the base of the flowers. Most look fine an dandy except these larger fan leaves. I don't see any pest and all the others look fine. Got some of the backside of the leaves.

Well, here goes nothing:

Nice pictures Al. I say K boost for sure. A bloom finisher if you have one. Our girls are within cooey of each other and I’m definitely seeing those changes in my garden too. We can feed against the onset of senescence, but they’re going to look autumnal and gorgeous before they’re finished.
FWIW better gardening has my current lot looking much better than their predecessors at the same stage.
In my garden I’d have to be really observant to notice those leaves you’ve posted. In your garden they jump out at you because your garden is so damn good!
Let’s see what an actual gardener has to say, eh? ...

Thanks, Double D.

"Within cooey" is a new one on me. Had to look it up. Haha! I like it.

Senescence is pretty much unstoppable, eh? That might explain it, though. I hope an actual farmer comes along. :)

I have Doc Buds High Brix Root Drench/Tea, which does have some k+ and phos.

We're getting close, huh? If I timed it right then taking off the week on the 4th was a good move.

nice clear pictures, they are definitely helpful. With the yellowing, I wouldn’t worry too much about that.. it’s common for a plant to pull nutrients it’s not using in older fan leaves and moves them to the colas, we here it really matters.. but the spots are a lil concerning.. it does kind of look like bug spots... but can’t tell 100% exactly. I will take a better look when I get home to see if I can be of any assistance.

Thanks. I don't think it's bugs, but what do I know? :)

Nice flowers how many weeks into flower? She appears to be almost done if im correct.

Thanks, @scrogster . Today is Day 53 of 12/12. Technically flower probably began a week later, give or take. The stated flower times range from 45-63 days, so we are really close. I'm seeing cloudy trichs but no amber yet. Some are still clear. Planning on getting some better trichome pics tonight.

My plan tonight is to add in Doc Buds High Brix Root Tea and pH the water to the 6.5-6.6 range. I believe the recent cold combined with the more alkaline waterings are the cause of the trouble. Also seeing some signs on OS. I'll get better pics tonight along with some Trichome pics. I think a light watering a day early with the supplement pHed to the right range may set things right.

Tonight's soundtrack is Lynyrd Skynyrd: Simple Man, Free Bird, That Smell, and, of course, Sweet Home Alabama.

While the mess with the youngest boy continues:

Finally, some good news: The older boy finally said he would use the medicine that I grow. He had resisted because he is pretty much paranoid about everything (as in, worried about lead in paint and all kinds of other things). I had to explain that paint spots in the shed are not flakes but fell there in drops when someone painted the walls. Also had to explain that when I had previously sprayed pesticide around the garage that it was mostly outside and all had been allowed to dry before even putting the tent together. He apparently thought I sprayed in the tent. Nope.

So...he is now willing to use this medicine both orally and topically. Yay!!!

Got some more pics of OG Kush CBD. Other plants will come later.
