Alafornia's 1st Time Multistrain Medical Grow

Are you getting excited Al? Your nearing the end of your first journey with these beautiful plants! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Hope you and the wife are doing well!
hope everything has calmed down a little in Alafornia-Land!!

It has calmed down. Thank you for the well wishes. We are trying to get the school situation sorted as his behaviors caused him to lose transportation due to safety concerns. Other than that and his stubbornness we are doing fine.

I am excited on one hand and still hopeful that what I've grown can make more of a difference. I am excited that I have so far conquered the learning curve of growing with a lot of help. On the other hand my enthusiasm has been tempered by recent events. I am actively trying to keep my spirits up. I am to the point of saying "Fuck it" and trying some for myself at the front end of my vacation since it would take 3-4 days to leave my system.

Stay tuned...I have two sets of pics coming - one set is everyone except NL. The other set is....yes, that's right! Northern Lights!

Tried to find some interesting angles and buds.

Northern Lights is a favorite of ours and I think a few of you as well.

Yep. Truly spectacular  :yummy: I foresee a POTM contender

So hey, you asked...
considering a 2x2x4 ft tent for the job
I use mine for drying whenever I can. I have some old garden wire/fencing cut to size and it gives me many hanging sites. I’ve actually thought i could make it double tier - but usually I don’t harvest a huge amount at once. Your situation might be different ;) :laughtwo:

Here’s a couple of pics - it’s a bit wider in one direction and i kind of bend it up. It’s partly held there by its own flex, and I tie it at the corners as well :) This is in a 3x3’

:Namaste:

Wow! That is some high praise! Thank you, Amy.

I think a 3x3 might be better suited to my purposes. You have inspired me with the fencing, but I might use trellis netting instead and put in several layers in a trapezoid shape but with the front open to provide access at the door. In a 72" tall tent spaced 1 ft apart vertically I could fit one at the top and four or five layers below that or more layers if a bit tighter on spacing. That would come very close to allowing me to use nearly all the available space in theory.

Your plants are looking impressive Al! To think this is your first grow, is absurd! You’ve done your homework, and are growing some fantastic medication for your family.

that’s unfortunate about transportation, but There’s ways around that... not that it makes your life easier at all, but there are ways around that.

I’m sorry about the most recent events, it can never just be easy in Alaforina land can it?

THC is detectable for up to 90 days in hair, anywhere between 3 days to a month or longer in urine (depending on how often the person uses), up to 48 hours in saliva, and up to 36 hours in blood. You aim that perfectly! And nobody will know!!:passitleft:

They’re expensive but a Volcano would do you good!:thumb: Volcano review.

hope you all have a great weekend!!:circle-of-love:

The transportation piece is key. Still working with the school on an IEP since that's a change in placement. Right now we're in limbo. At least the bad outbursts have stopped at home. I am concerned about the plan for school with him already withdrawing (socially) and being forced now to withdraw further. We're going to switch his medications to closer to what they were when he was doing better which means adding the one that caused weight gain in a smaller dose and taking away the one that replaced it. It can never be easy here.

Thanks for the complements. I read up on this in my spare time for about 7-8 months total before planting. It was difficult for a newbie to cut through the BS found in many places and decide on how I wanted to go about it. I was happy when I found super soil because I didn't have to worry about hydro stuff and nutes and such - I could plant in "the earth" and water it and be pretty much done after making the environment good. I kept finding myself on the 420 Mag forum with my questions being answered expertly when I googled them, and with respect to whomever actually asked the question since I hadn't joined yet. The plethora of expert information and the respectful nature of this forum is why I joined and still it's exceeded my expectations with the help and encouragement I've received. Without that I would have crashed and burned with this grow a long time ago. Growing cannabis is only easy after you've done your homework and gotten a little experience and even then life throws curveballs. I've learned so much on the first round I can apply to the second and I'm certain I'll learn more on that round.

3-4 days for someone like me who has never used (for urine, which is my only concern). Haven't decided yet.

Yep the Volcano is great but as you say super duper spendy! I spent many months researching dry-herb vapes before I bought one and I’d recommend to anyone thinking about a desktop vape to check out Arizer vapes. I’ve had a Solo (handheld/portable)for 2 years and i still love it. They have a couple of desktop models which are really top notch, very affordable, and get reviewed comparatively to the Volcano and other ‘high-end’ vapes. If i was looking for a desktop vape I’d be getting their Extreme Q. Sorry for the rave... Backlip’s mentioning the Volcano sent my brain off on a tangent ;)

If I decide to vape I'll likely get some vg and pg and throw it in an ecig after decarb and infusion, but I can see the appeal of those for long term use.

Took a few measurements tonight.

I am changing the time to 11 am to 11 pm. It will just work better. Lights will be on til midnight and back on at 11.

Purple Orange CBD did not sprout. I’m dropping another seed in water tonight.

Bama won. Roll Tide. Tua will be out 1-2 weeks. Ugh.

Weird dreams. In one I was caught up in the machinations of a storefront/door. It went up, folded to the side to fit into nook, and part of it came back folding down to cover the front. I was caught behind it and thought "This might be it if I don't get out somehow". I couldn't quite reach the edge in time so I was trying to climb/squeeze through a "window" (really just a small opening) before it finished closing. All kinds of weird dreams. Yesterday's soundtrack included Land of Confusion by Genesis. These are the lyrics before the break:

I must've dreamed a thousand dreams
Been haunted by a million screams
But I can hear the marching feet
They're moving into the street
Now did you read the news today
They say the danger's gone away
But I can see the fire's still alight
There burning into the night
There's too many men, too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go round
Can't you see this is a land of confusion?
Well this is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in
Ooh, Superman where are you now
When everything's gone wrong somehow?
The men of steel, the men of power
Are losing control by the hour
This is the time, this is the place
So we look for the future
But there's not much love to go round
Tell me why, this is a land of confusion
This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in

And that is why I medicate. If my brain doesn’t settle at night, Mary Jane knocks it out. I might have to start cheering on the Tide with you Al. Michigan sucks, and TCU sucks this year. I’m tired of yelling at the dang tv.

I won't lie and say I'm sorry about Michigan but I have no ill will toward TCU. :) We will welcome you to the dark side. We have cookies! Now infused with cannabis. :D

Hopefully we both get a good night's rest tonight.

Hopefully should work it’s self out al! Sounds impossible because of the struggle that been happening.

Which ever dose you use to help make his day and your guy’s day more manageable, I’d say jump on it. As long as the weight gain isn’t overly too much. Let’s try and keep you and tangled sane.

You’ve done right by studying and learning as long as you did before jumping in feet first. Many people do the opposite, your proof that people need to learn more before jumping in head first. Your doing awesome Al! You’ve made, and found your self a good home here, and your making a great name for your self. nothing to feel ashamed about here.

do you actually get pee tested regularly? I ask because I really don’t know what it’s like to be the field your in. It’s possible for me to get piss tested, but only when an incident has occurred.

I’m not trying to be that school yard bully who pure pressures you to smoke marijuana your first time, but it has great, great benefits to everything that your going through. If you see in your mind you have an opportunity to try it, please consider it.:circle-of-love:

We're trying. The tapering of meds was something he wanted to try so we did. Didn't work, obviously. The weight gain was significant - 70 pounds +/-. It just turns out this is a case of "pick your poison". Right now I'm keeping geodon and have added back in zyprexa (the weight gain pill). He's also getting the tincture/oil capsules I made. Things have calmed down a lot.The school thing was, I think, him trying to hard to be badass. Intellectually he is about 19. Emotionally he is about 6. It's a strange combination and makes for some weird decisions and obvious cognitive dissonance when observing his actions.

I've been tested once, almost as an afterthought right when I started. Certainly, if someone thought I was impaired I'd be tested. I'd never ever go to work in that state, but people are strange. I don't need any more problems so I haven't tried it yet. With a break coming up there is a potential opportunity. And don't worry - I made it to my late teens before trying alcohol and this far without trying anything else. I'll do it when I'm ready and not before. The only question is when.

No shame here. I'm pretty damned proud of the plants and the job I've done raising kids. I am so far from perfect that I cry about it at times and think about what I could have done differently, but I'm always good to my kids and even in my failings I've given it my best shot. Same with this project. I've screwed up royally a few times. The plants let me know. I tried to understand what I did wrong, learn from it, and move forward. That's life. That's growing plants. That's raising kids. That's everything we ever do.

Quick story I made have already told:

A couple of weeks ago at church a lady that's worked with our son tells Tangled "I don't think (my son's name) has autism." I didn't hear statement in real time (good thing as I was already in a foul mood). I did hear Tangled explaining that several experts have confirmed the diagnosis. She handled that lady with such grace and discipline, which I would not have done that day. But it did make me think that all the many years of hard work had paid off if some moron doesn't even think he has autism. He was first diagnosed at 2-1/2 years and multiple therapies started immediately. At that point he used a few words and no sentences. He didn't even say "drink". He pointed and grunted. We used cards and sign language and finally got that boy talking. He didn't talk but in the meantime he was an escape artist with moving a chair across the room and climbing on it to reach the chain lock so he could get outside. It was problem solving that created quite the problem for us. Haha! He was about eight when he began to get Theory of Mind. That usually begins about age 4-5. That's the teenager. The older boy didn't begin getting metaphors until about nine years old. Very concrete thinking but got him to begin to understand that kind of colorful language. She might not think he has autism either if she met him. I'm proud as hell someone thinks that. After thinking on it that day I thought the perfect response would be "Thank you! We worked very hard for years to fool you like that." and walking away without another word. The more it makes someone think "WTF?!" the better because I want her to question her overconfidence and her oversharing. Good thing she didn't catch me that day, though. :D My reaction would not have been the perfect response. :D

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. I'm glad to be here. It's good to have a place I can say what's really on my mind without much censorship of myself since most times in most places I don't share my thoughts quite this much.

great story, I don’t think I remember reading that story or not.

Awwww shucks.

Thanks, BLS.

Had to tie up some loose colas tonight, mainly on OS, but also NL and Westley.
