AKGramma's Perpetual Grow

And I can't find a link to my settings. it's all changed. :-( I have to go to alerts, then scroll down to preferences. That is not a logical place to put a link to one's profile and settings! Never mind. Just click on my name. DOH!

nope. the two or three threads I get notifications from are spotty at best. And now, I dont see the option on the Following list to watch with emails anymore. With about 20 journals I'm following, this site is not very user friendly. :-(

OK thanks - I’l report back. You’re not the only one. I expect that now the pageload and speed issues are getting sorted nicely that the email notifications will get some more direct attention.

Nice one :thumb:

Click your user name - top row.

TY, Oldbear! I have applied the tutorial to my watched list (2 pages long) and will wait to see if I get any notifications.

13 hours and nothing has come into my inbox. I DO have ALERTS full on, so the best I can hope for is a few notifications concerning my own posts. But it doesn't pick up those on my Watched list. The only other option is to go to WHAT'S NEW and look for threads I'm interested in there, from all the new 420 posts.

Have you checked your email address in settings to make sure that didnt get corrupted? Checked your spam folder?

I turned on a bunch with different methods. All were working fine. I turned them all off again though. Between alerts and the highlighted changed threads in 'watched threads' they were just a duplicate and somewhat annoying to me.

Oh, I know whats up. You need to go into your email inbox, and click the button in each of your subscribed threads.
Otherwise it wont send anything to your email inbox. I have had to do this a few times recently.
You will end up opening all of the threads in new tabs. I recommend holding the control button and clicking.
You will stay in the tab with the email itself.

My apologies if I just made an ass of myself.

My inbox link only opens recent conversations. When I select show all, I get 4 pages of 20 one-on-one conversations. These are not my watched threads, but just those I posted to. The rest does not happen here. I dont understand beyound the second sentence. I DID, however, go to the TAB 420 Forums>watched threads> select all> and chose activate email for both pages of watched threads I have.

But I still only get one notification each from 5 out of 40 subscribed threads. And that is just ONE, not EACH post. I have to visit the journal and read the many posts that were NOT emailed to me.

This is why I'm using the Watched Threads tool. Those threads/forums that have unread posts are in bold font and those that have no new posts are grayed.

What I'm getting emailed to me is far less than what has new posts according to the Watched Threads list.

OK, enough talk about non-existent emails!

The Jock Horror x DPs in flower are just barely showing trics, and they are well beyond stated harvest date. So I fed them Earth Juice Bloom and molasses to coax more trics (LOL) and beef up the buds.

Just switched the grandson's White Widows to 12/12. They are so ready, there are white hairs all over the place!

Morning AK
Hope things down your way are going well. We finally are getting a break from the snow the last couple days and the temps are creeping up a bit. This daylight savings stuff sure makes little sense imho anyways, more hassle than it’s worth in my book.

Miss J an I are down to 3 plants left in the flower room now, and once I get the urge to try and figure out the pic posting again I’ll try an get them up, just going to wait a bit an see if they are done fugging things around......I mean making it better

Blessed Buds our friend and be well :passitleft:

I've read the descriptions. Sounds like it really stinks and will send your mind to the moon! It ONLY for daytime use. I suppose I wont tincture it, then, for night meds.

It's 50% Sativa, so it will be a B**** to keep under control indoors. But,I have months before I'll have any room for even the seedlings. Hoping for June.

If my current mainlining effort is successful with my White Widows, I'll mainline the ATF to keep it tamed.

Frustration with the email problems, I am losing passion for this hobby. Without inspiration from the community, there is no reason to continue posting on 420. NOTHING I try is solving my email issue. My settings are all correct.

I simply do not have the time to go to each forum individually and catch up on a dozen unread posts. It was much easier via email, where I could quickly scan which posts I wanted to reply to.

Teddy, please move this forum to completed or unfinished Journals. I'm done with this mess!

What a drag, AK. I have all my email notifications turned off and I strive to get no email from 420- just alerts on the 420 website. Those seem to sort of work most of the time, though it a seems like if I ignore a thread through a few alerts it will stop alerting me.
Generally the way I find my watched threads is by wandering around and looking through the New Posts. Things are so slow here these days there's not many pages to dig through.

I know. It is a sad decision I have had to make. :(

The alerts, like you said, don't alert you to every post or even every watched thread. I may stay a little longer and check my watched threads or What's New lists, which is a time-wasting way to communicate with your fellow growers. if I can mentally substitute those for the convenience of email notification (Teach an old Bi*** new tricks) MAYBE, I'll become more active later on this year.

But until my grandson's crop is harvested, my own grow has to stay in veg, with nothing happening except a little progress on the two White Widows being mainlined. Perhaps a good result will inspire me to start up another Journal. We'll see.

I have to accept the loss of the emails, and relegate what little extra time I have from other interests, to visit a thread now and then. But that is no way to carry on a conversation. Too easy to forget where you left off, or remember WHOM you were talking to, before leaving the site.

Thanks for dropping by. Good to "hear" from you, WC!

I haven't been out visiting much lately. Kind of determined not to end up having to manage 1000 very active subscriptions like I used to. Also lately I have been in some sort of hell-coma in bed with a crazy flu. Sleeping a tortured 22 hours a day for almost a week! Ugh. I'm glad that's passing. Today was the first day I had the strength to walk around for an hour and start cleaning up my cabin, before falling asleep again. Lol. Lets hope for your sake this one stays over here in Canada.
At some point in the future maybe we will get broadband internet here. So far every attempt has failed. But if it ever happens, I'll be able to use the computer for 420- which would be nice. I know you're not loving it at the moment- but aside from your email issues- to me it's superior to this mobile app-view thing we have now for the phones.
One good way of following conversations in subbed threads was by seeing who last posted. Then I'd jump in based on that. Now that it doesn't show that anymore, I tend to not open up those threads as much, and then I seem to stop getting alerts. Makes it easy to just drift away....
Hopefully the major issues get sorted. I know they're constantly working on trying to improve various aspects of the site. They're also, for some reason, constantly way understaffed.

It's burnout. Another group I am deeply involved in went to a new program 9 months ago and we are STILL teaching the old timers how to use it. The Millennials catch right on. We burned out three people on the IT team. I'm no IT, but I spent a horrendous amount of time in data entry, populating the new site. Being on the other end, trying to figure out this new site, I understand what my users are feeling!
