AKGramma's Perpetual Grow

It seems to me that there’s a number of different spots where email notifications can be activated or deactivated and maybe they’re cancelling each other out here n there. AK, under the alerts ‘pull down’, in preferences, there are sub-options for including email alerts. Do those need to be on as well? I’m just guessing... and maybe you have them on already... I just get bugged by this kind of stuff and have OCD ‘needs’ to get it fixed!!
(And it may seem I’m popping up out of the blue the last couple of days - but I lurk here a lot! Don’t always engage but enjoy following along. It’s the new site troubleshooting has brought me out a lot!!)

:Namaste;
Nope that’s not it! I just tested by turning on emails for the new forums & gallery thread, only using the ‘manage watched threads’ section. The same way you describe doing it (check the box, choose activate emails at the bottom of the page). And it’s working - the emails land instantly so far. I’ll stop clogging up your journal with tech obsessiveness now :nomo: I hope you get it sorted. You could always open a specific support request and the site crew will help you directly (ie not in a thread where heaps of other stuff is going in as well).

:Namaste:

Please pardon the intrusion. :thanks:

Since many of you stay in the grow room with blinders on, we have to spread the word somehow.

The mobile apps have been temporarily disbled, you can now access our 420% mobile friendly website via all smartphones through a browser like Google Chrome.

Well, I solved the missing GALLERY mystery! I had to change my zoom level with CNTL+ and it showed up! Something so simple..... I expected the site would adjust to the zoom in or out, but guess not!

Yesterday I was informed that a family member needed me to babysit his grow, some of which is approaching Harvest. So I have activated a spare closet with built-in drawers and headroom of 48". My short veggies will go there, and I will be harvesting the Jock Horror autos over the next few days, since they are 2 weeks past the time frame stated on the sites.

I won't start anything new until he takes his grow back, and by that time, it will all probably be harvested. I have room in the spare closet for the 4 AK47 x DP's which are being grown for seed, three White widows (a mother and her two clones) and the last two AK 48's.

I have a tendency to order strains with the same general ancestry, so no more orders. My stash of seeds will last the rest of MY life, for sure. :rollit:

Picture time!!!!!

Here are the wet weights of two Jock Horror Auto buds. The buds measured around 1/2 inch, with a few 1" colas, which will dry down to individual florets.

At a total of 110.67 grams, I expect the dry weight to be around 28 grams (1 oz) for the two plants.

Plant #2 seemed a little early to me, but I needed the room. All the JH Autos sprouted within 3 days of each other, but some were slower, and two were faster. All have sativa-like florets, paired at each node, rather than bunched together into big colas.

I assume that the Indica-heavy plants have the packed colas. Mine are all hybrids with a deep ancestry, heavy on the Sativa side.

Just two more JH Autos in flower. I harvested the central upper stem of one whose pistols shriveled up. And I thinned out the leaves crowding the buds in both. With the large unit shut down, maybe my electric bill will go down.

In veg are 4 AK47xDP (from seed), 3 White widows, and 2 AK 48's. These are under CFLs only because of the limited head space. Your don't want LEDs too close. My first couple grows were in this very closet, under CFLs, and I got an adequate yield from them. No big colas, tho. I don't have that skill figured out yet, but then, I have no need for a huge stash of buds in jars.

With the family using less of my grown, I'm downsizing as each strain is harvested. No sense at all spending $200 a month on a grow that no one is using. What this will mean for the future of the perpetual grow remains to be seen.

The loss of my contacts by email with this new site has greatly dampened my enthusiasm. Even if I DO manage to activate the emails of my watched threads, I only get a few from one or two of them. I have had to keep going into the list of watched threads, selecting all, and activating emails. It doesn't seem to stick.

Yes, I know the admins are working on quite a few of the quirks because of the loss of the original developer. So I can't blame my decreasing enthusiasm for growing on just the lack of communication among members, although before the switch, it was the community interaction that kept me interested, when the family stopped using my crop.

I miss my friends..... :(

I made the effort to visit each forum/thread I want to receive emails from, selected unwatch, then watch with email notification. If this doesn't stick, I don't know what will. :reading420magazine:

Hope it works! Report back to the feedback/bug report thread either way, so they know.

I know others have had success with it this morning (or afternoon/evening - depending where you are!

Your friends are still around AK. So far anyway. I just been too busy to come by your journal.
The forum sure has changed though, shrunk way down and a lot of great people have left or gone quiet. I'm going to stick it out a bit longer and see how it goes. Still meaning to wrap up my journal as well when I get time.
Hang in there!

The flowers on my last two Jock Horror Autos turned amber overnight, but there are almost no trics on them! Since I have enough to process for now, I can let them go for another week or two, and hope they mature. Otherwise, I'll have to grind them into herbs.

Yep I'm here too. Where ever "here" is. I think I'm finally getting the hang of things here gramma. Congrats on the harvest there! Looks like some frosty smoke :thumb:.

Sure has been snowing a lot the past couple days here. My 3 foot fence in the yard is fully engulfed haha!

I have faith that the emails and stuff will start to come through more often now. I've noticed today I'm already getting more, and some other issues are clearing up also.

The sun has been turned back on, I'm looking forward to brighter longer days. Hope you have a great one!

I noticed that, WC. We've lost Sypherz, Village Idiot, A number of people from here in Alaska, all have all dropped off the radar. Other forums have become too technical for me to follow. I'm a basic gardener type of person. Anything more complicated or more expensive, I can't do it.

I'll stay on through 2018, and I'll decide if I, too, move on. If I grow at all, it will only be one or two plants at a time, just enough to keep me in herbs and tinctures.

Peoples come and go everywhere AK.... All the years I been here,, I seen alot. Still never hurts to a journal going. To me, it's better than writing info down or on labels... GL and Keepem Green

I had to terminate my struggling AK48's. When I checked on them this morning, they were covered with mite webs. Added to their poor structure and small leaves they totally wilted after I sprayed them down in the shower. The Borg won this battle.

I have no more patience to nurse struggling plants along, in the hope of some kind of inconsequential yield. The leaves were so bad, I couldn't even dry and use them for herbs.

So the grow is getting smaller by attrition. No more coddling weak plants with thin stems and those that seem to attract hoards of mites. The ONLY strain that has thick sturdy stems in my veg unit is the White Widow, and the three I inherited are clones many generations down. If I can keep these three healthy and the 4 AK47xDPs going long enough to breed them, then I will be able to sprout the Alaska Thunderf**k seeds I acquired. Can't be an Alaskan without having tried ATF!
