Afghani #1 - Blue City Diesel - Sugar Plum & Blockhead

Looking FABULOUS :bravo: Your girls are beautiful! I'm waiting on some Afghani seeds, so I love watching this grow, and am looking forward to your harvest and smoke report. I'm in the beginning of some Blue Mystic plants and I'm enjoying watching the characteristics of your Blue City Diesel grow. Keep up the good job!!

Thanks a ton man! Very much appreciated. If you want specific pics let me know.

Today is the first day of plain tap water only for BCD and Afghani. It is 11 days until the alleged harvest date and I haven't done more than a 3 or 4 day flush with previous grows. Enjoy the pics of 3 of the girls before they start yellowing! In order of appearance- Afghani, BCD, Sugar Plum:

2 days left in the first 8 weeks of flower. After 8 days of flush (excluding Sugar Plum) there is no sign of yellowing or deficiency. The buds are now so heavy I had to anchor them to bamboo stakes to prevent damage to the stems.

Afghani looked done a couple days ago but is now showing new white hairs. Maybe new flowers will slow down as flush sets in. Anyone know what to expect? It would blow my mind to have a question answered so lay it on me. This grow journal remains dedicated to the quiet people who find it useful.

Blue City Diesel has exploded with new bud growth and is definitely not going to be done for a week or two at least.

Blockhead is still a cranky bitch but is still stacking buds on its little frame.

Sugar Plum looks fantastic and is really starting to fill in. Probably at least a month left for SP and I'm looking forward to using the whole 3x3 space for it.

We are now at day 61 since the flip to 12/12 and I wanted to give you guys an update.

The Afghani has a few scattered white hairs and a only handful of amber trichomes on the sugar leaves, maybe 2% total amber. The trichomes are otherwise cloudy and beginning to swell, with another small percentage being shaped like candy canes with a fat mushroomy top. Tomorrow it will have been in flush for 3 full weeks and it is showing no real signs of yellowing. I could harvest right now but I want the narcotic, sedative effect I had from a local shop's Afghani pre roll joint so patience is my goal:

Blue City Diesel is now showing new white hairs on the lower portions of the plant as well as the tops of the colas. I initiated flush at the same time as the Afghani and Blockhead (8/31) but fertilized tonight and about a week ago since it doesn't look at all close to finished. No amber trichomes on the plant but they look mostly cloudy. It has put on significant weight in the past 2 weeks and I am almost certain it is beginning to purple underneath those shiny trichomes:

Blockhead has an odd budding growth pattern that makes its calyxes look like they're full of seeds before white pistils explode from within. This is the most pissed off plant I have ever grown but I refuse to give up on it. The colas have all fallen down completely horizontal despite my efforts to anchor them to a set of taped chop sticks. The little plant is too small for bamboo stakes so it will have to deal. Most of the fan leaves have yellowed completely and it has also been in flush for 3 weeks tomorrow. It looks like a sad screen of green attempt but smells decent:

Sugar Plum finally doesn't remind me of the iron-heavy smell of blood and is beginning to resemble the SP I know and love from an earlier grow. It is, in true sativa fashion, waaaay less developed than any of its tent mates. I have axed a few of the crappy looking tops to simplify things and am down to 12 tops of the almost exact same size. There is about 15" of prime bud real estate on each top so I'm pretty excited to see how it finishes. The leaves at the top of the canopy are weirdly exhibiting symptoms of excessive heat (curling upward) but the average high in a 24 hour cycle has been 82F. It still looks fine, just odd to see that. I am excited to get a plant or two out of the tent to stretch this one out and maximize light exposure:

Greetings!

I chopped the Afghani, Blue City Diesel and the Blockhead on 10/4. That is 3 weeks later than projected and I did not get more than about 5% amber trichomes on the Afghani and zero amber on the BCD.

The BCD developed bud rot in one of the colas but it was thankfully isolated to that spot. No idea how that happened with my indoor grow with low humidity and excellent airflow but oh well! The plant threw out some nanners and that was the end of the line.

The BCD developed decent purple tones and smells amazing. I have sampled some and it is as described in Leafly. The Afghani also purpled a bit which you can see in the pictures and the buds are classic indica. The Afghani high is very relaxing and has some narcotic properties so I am excited to see how it cures.

The Blockhead hermied after its lifetime of stress and seeded some of the BCD but not too much. Now that the grow tent has more space I tied down all of the Sugar Plum colas to maximize light exposure while it does its sativa thing and takes forever. I will get you all a full yield and smoke report once it's all finished, probably a month from now or so.

Drive by... Just was wondering where you got the Sugar Plum from? I've dealt with Stoney Girls herbs for afew years. It's a good strong finisher for the Portland area. I just cut down a Pitt Bull from them. Got to be careful with them tho, I've gotten mites from them in the past. So if your getting cuts from Mike's home,,, just be careful. I lost three of their plants this year. I didn't spray them like I usually do and they all got Hemp Mites and got thrown out. Good looking buddage, Keepem Green

I was back reading abit. It takes awhile for peoples to respond here. You have to do alittle networking on others threads to get peoples to come around yours. I bumped into your grow doing a search on the Blue City. I have afew of them going myself. You can see the DJ Short influence with the dark purple stems.I also saw you post about the Cripit. That's my personal favorite from them. Your right that they are full of shit come flowering times, but like I said they are one of the few strains that finish on time before the rains. The Marion Berry finishes mid-Sept outdoors and turns pretty purple with a nice smell and taste. You have to add a week on their flowering time. I've grown just about everyone they have over the last 10 years or so. The do have afew strains that really put on some heavy trichome production for great hash making. Hope she smokes as well as she looks.... Keepem Green

As you could read I was a little frustrated at times but you're right and it's all good. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I haven't done any cuttings from Stoney Girl and grew the Sugar Plum from seed. Their seed prices are hard to stomach but it really is a nice strain. I am curious how the Cripit will be once I finally get around to sprouting a few seeds. How would you describe the effects?
