Afghani #1 - Blue City Diesel - Sugar Plum & Blockhead

Your sugar plum looks awesome dude, beautiful colas man. I hope I can manage some nice even topping like that when I try it one some of my girls. All your plants look great dude.

Thanks a lot guys. The Sugar Plum leaves that I left attached are looking super happy and their color is darkening already. Definitely hard to remove that much growth but it was going nuts. The BCD looks amazing though. Thank you for the feedback!

Happy Wednesday! The Blockhead's color is normalizing as the soil dries out and it's becoming more and more obvious I was over watering this particular plant. I'm betting it takes off shortly after it dries out fully.

The Sugar Plum was unfazed by the buzz cut and is back to business as usual.

BCD is making me look better at growing than I am. What an easy strain to grow and manage.

The Afghani has basically 4 main tops as it's currently trained. The new leaves start out really thin and twisted but turn into monsters!

I removed the lower growth tips on the Blockhead so it can focus more on vertical growth for a while instead of bushing out.

The BCD continues to be super sensitive to soil in any state of dryness. The wilt is pretty impressive after it looked perfect 8 hours ago.

BCD is about an inch taller than both the SP and Afghani.

Blockhead is still not dry and hasn't been watered in about a week. Color on the new growth looks better than a few days ago but it's surprising that it's taking so long to dry out.

BCD was in full wilt mode in short order once again.

It won't always be daily updates but they're in the prime of their veg careers so why not? Except the Blockhead, of course. Still a ton of moisture in its soil but the color continues to improve. I am more shocked each day by how much I was over watering that plant. It is the definitely where the fungus gnats came from and I probably should have axed it early on. Could be a new favorite for all I know, I just hope she gets moving once it dries out and the roots expand!

Blockhead, Afghani, Sugar Plum, Blue City heights in that order:

Lower leaf on the Afghani. If anyone else has grown this strain I'd love to hear what your leaves looked like.

I fat thumbed that last message and hit send too soon. Here's the height on Blockhead:
420-magazine-mobile1647853241.jpg

And here's an overall update. The Blockhead has not been watered in almost two weeks and the pot still has some weight to it. The new growth is looking much better as it recovers from nutrient lockout. Definitely a learning experience, especially since I thought I was past making the mistake of overwatering. I'm going to let it get to the point of wilting before I water it again to allow roots to spread and make sure there isn't any decay going on.

Finally training the 16 sugar plum tops again. Man what a pain in the ass that is compared to 8 tops! Input/questions/criticism appreciated as always.

Once the Blue City Diesel hits 20" I think it's going to be time to go 12/12. I've never grown an indica strain before and 3 of the 4 plants this grow are indica or indica dominant hybrid. Can anyone advise on these strains specifically? The Sugar Plum doubles in size during flower.

A little post-training overview pic for your enjoyment. The BCD is now a hair over 18.5 inches tall so I'm guessing 12/12 happens after the weekend. Have a safe one everybody.

Tiny snails (I think) have popped up all over the Afghani. I looked at a couple under magnification and there is a spiral to their body. Has anyone seen this before? I have no idea.

Re: Afghani #1 - Blue City Diesel - Sugar Plum & Blockhead

Any idea on the baby snails? Google told me nothing.

I checked the girls after a day and a half and the Blue City Diesel is exactly 20 inches (51cm). The Sugar Plum is at 18in (45cm)and the Afghani is now 19in (48cm). The Blockhead is bringing up the rear at just over 12in (31cm). I said the 12/12 flip would happen as soon as BCD reached this height so here's the plan:

I just clicked the light off and will leave them in the dark until I return tomorrow, which will be a period of around 26 hours. I did this during my last grow and have no idea if it helps or not, but it certainly hasn't hurt. The light will be on at night, from 7pm-7am, to make heat less of a concern.

I will keep using the metal halide bulb for the first 2 weeks of 12/12 since some people claim it helps prevent excessive stretching. The HPS bulb will still be used for the majority of flowering. I'm also going to start feeding bloom nutrients every other watering.

The Blockhead is going to be a pain in my ass but as far as I know it could be my next favorite strain. It will have to be elevated through the conclusion of this grow but that shouldn't be too challenging. Wish me luck.

Welcome to the first day of flower! I clicked the light back on after 28hrs of darkness and took this picture as the MH bulb warmed up. So effing green.

Each plant grew nearly an inch during the dark period and the new shoots are spectacularly bright in person. The Blockhead has still not been watered but is looking better than it ever has. Here is an overview of the plants with the Blockhead sitting on a milk crate. The single plant pictures (in order) are Blockhead, Afghani, Sugar Plum, Blue City Diesel:

I'm going to use the MH bulb until around 7/31 or 8/1 to allegedly help with stretching. Enjoy the normal color spectrum while you can . .

Honestly I'm glad I didn't wait any longer to flip the switch since it's only a 6ft tall tent. I'm confident none of the plants will stretch as much as the SP and that should only be about 40" tall at the end based on previous plants.

The timer is set for lights on between 7pm and 7am to manage heat, and so far the canopy is right at 82F/28C when the lights first click on. That's probably my home's warmest time of the day so the temperature generally drops to around 74F/23C by the time I wake up and check on them. The nighttime cool temp during the dark period was 68F/20C which should be pretty consistent during the flowering period.

A 14 degree swing in day and night temps is a smaller difference than I'm used to so I'm excited to see how it pans out.

The first pictures from this angle through one of the side doors. I am stoked about the canopy but can't technically call it a sea of green I guess.

A little day 4 eye candy for you guys. I'll be honest, the plants look phenomenal. Yesterday was the first time I fed bloom nutrients and they're looking happy as a clam so far. No narration this time, you guys can probably discern which plant is which at this point.

Hey I'm doing a legal rec grow in Oregon, too. I have 4 Blue City Diesels that I bought as clones on June 9th. This is my 3rd grow, I phased these into my grow room a few days ago and have been looking for info on them. I'm glad to see yours is doing so well, interesting to see how fast they get thirsty.
Let me ask- Are you using 12" pots? About how often do you give it water? What types nutrients are you using and what schedule? Do you PH or keep track of PPM? What's the max temp your plants get?

Looking good, glad I found your grow!
